Hello, there's a team tournament coming at the start of this February. Me and my two friends decided to build a team and go playing there.

The point sizes are 2000, 1600 and 1200. Some of the games are played with all armies together and some of them separately. One of my friend decided to take his good ol' Warriors of Chaos as the 2000 points army. An another friend wanted to take Beastmen to the 1200 so I decided to take my Vampires in 1600.

After thinking a bit I wanted to go with a very competitive list, that's why I have a big unit of Ghouls, The Drakenhof Banner and some Wraiths!

What do you think about this list?

Hi! It it was me playin would reduce the wraiths to 4 strong and choose a lord instead of your current hero level vampire.
A caster lord with either vampire, death or shadow with a few bits like ward save, MotBA, HoC, Perhaps FL or DA. Just works very nice in the magic phase. You can have a lord costing 400 which is enough I think.

If you go for the hero level and keep the 8 wraiths I would pick death on him as the shadow spells are a little hard for a lvl 1 to manage I think.

The tournament seems like a lot of fun.

I might also give the GG the banner of the burrows instead of the hellfire banner.

Just being a pedant here... but does it bother anyone else that it gets referred to as the Banner of the Burrows instead of the Banner of the Barrows? You get the corpses of long-dead warriors from barrows. From burrows you just get bunny rabbits.

@ Ghurt: I don't want to stick too many points on characters and a big unit of Wraiths is waay cooler than a small one, so I'll keep this character/Wraith build. But the Lore of my Vampire can be changed into Death, those sniping spells might be useful in games of this size.

@ Arthander: I first thought about the Banner of the Barrows, but after that I imagined myself facing an another Drakenhof Banner or Ogres. I'm still thinking about it though.

I think it looks very good.I'd lose the FL and replace it w/ Motba.Lore of vamps would help this list more than Shadow.You only have 3 combat units,so raising dead to protect flanks or delay would really come in handy.VH's speaks for itself and your going to need to take the initiative in order to win b/c you will definately be outnumbered(# of units) and outdeployed. WoUndeath for the same reason as raise dead.A sudden ethereal road block could paralyse the enemy.While your big units murder the unsupported remainder.I'd just run him w/raise dead.

I'd want 5 more skellies in that bunker too..You could easily lose your general to saturated missile fire...mainly from elves.I say drop it totally,replace the helm w/BoA and run him in the ghouls for the 4+ regen/2++ vs.fire/2+ ignore first hit..should keep him alive.Spamming on 2 dice you should't miscast.You could even give him warrior bane for the magical attacks.
I'm just trying to poke holes though,looks like fun.

I´d go with the lord level caster aswell, why? Well, because I think most armies can and will deploy level 4 casters of their own. This means that they will not only dominate the magic phase but will shut yours down aswell. In that case you need to throw big piles of dice in order to get anything through and risk miscast. Not very good seeing as the vamp is your general. Personally I´d drop the regen banner at these points and go for a VL + necro for magical supremecy or VL + cheapish WK BSB.

The wraiths are cool, but you dont have anywhere near the means to protect them vs enemy magic. If you drop 3-4 wraiths, you can have both the VL AND the wraiths. Something I belive makes this list more competative.

Well, I decided to try a Vampire Lord, and now I have a bit different build. Master of the Black Arts for extra power dice, extra level and Dark Acolyte to turn him into lvl 4 caster, Helm for support and The Book of Arkhan for being sure I get the Vanhel's Dance. Is the book necessary by the way? I roll the spells with 4 dice, and a roll of 2 gives me the spell, and so gives if I roll any doubles... Should I just drop the book and give the Lord a 5+ ward and the Charmed Shield?

I'm not sure what I should to do with my Lord, I mean where to place him. If I but him in Grave Guards I cannot give them Ws7 so they'd need the Banner of Barrows... If I stick him in my Ghouls he'd be pretty easy to kill. The final choice is to take him into my Skeletons. But he wouldn't be too safe there.

Should I just drop the book and give him the 5+ ward and Charmed Shield or just a Flayed Hauberg? Then I could send him go with my Ghouls, and I could replace the Skeletons into Zombies with a banner (for Blood and Gory scenario). What do you think?

You won't need the book on a lvl 4.I was just suggesting it for your hero lvl general build,to insure you got both raise dead and VH's.Flayed hauberk and the DB gem in the ghouls will make him super tough,4+ regen 2+/2++
Zombies for the banner wouls be good too,they will definately be totally ignored,considering your other units
I was big fan of the 8 wraith's BTW,I think it made your list a beast.

I was too, but unfortunately I can't get everything because of this darn small army size. I'll change the Book into Flayed Hauberg and Dragonbane Gem and one more Ghoul, and the Skeletons into Zombies as my Lord doesn't need a bunker anymore.
