2000 points Vampire goodness for a tournament

Hello all! smile There's a tournament coming soon, and I decided to take my Vampire Counts for the tournament as my Goblins aren't painted yet and I can't take a horde of Bulls because of the restrictions. And I need some motivation to paint my Ghouls fast. cheesygrin

So, something about the tournament. It's 2000 points, three games. The first scenario is Battle for the Pass with a 200 VP worthy objective in the center. In addition, there's a some kind of roll which can destroy a spell for one magic phase or so. Then the another scenario is a regular Battleline, but the deployment zone is 18" (all good to me Konrad ) and an extra 100 VP is grant if the enemy general is killed. The last scenario is Blood & Glory, but the breaking point gives 400 extra VP instead of an instant victory. Also, in this scenario a some kind of roll is made at the start of the turn, it can give +1 to cast or Frenzy and such small bonuses.

There is only a couple of restrictions. A unit can only cost max 450 points and special characters and Power Scroll are banned. Sounds decent at least to me. The scenarios are okay, only the last one might turn a bit too exciting - if my Wight King dies, he gives and extra 400 VPs for the opponent... Otherwise the scenarios are just good for my army. Thumbs Up

Then about the epic tactics... Well, the Lord is a very good caster who tries to keep my Ghoul units BIG and dance them around with VDM. +5 or +6 to cast is awesome! grin Helm of Commandment is a no-brainer of course and the Charmed Shield is there for miscasts/other exciting.

The support Vampire is there just because of the Ghoulkin. Dispel Scroll is good too, and as I had a couple of points to spare, why not to take the Ironcurse Icon?

The Wight King is a very good choice, with great weapon even he can kill something (if buffed correctly wink ). The main thing about him is the battle standard of course.

Then the core choices... Two hordes of Ghouls which are going to be bumped into even bigger units! These units are capable of destroying some things (of course with the buffs, again!). Champions are there for an ability to challenge something eeevil. The smallest Ghoul unit is the bunker.

Finally, 7 Wraiths finish my army. They are good against anything which doesn't have magical attacks.

The Vampires go into the bunker of course, and the Wight King with the another horde. The main idea is to deploy the hordes and the Wraiths in the middle, with the bunker behind them. If I face something that isn't dangerous enough to threat my Vampires I can take the bunker into horde too. The Ghouls move very fast into combat, and Summon Undead Horde and VDM (and the HoC) should buff them enough. The bunker avoids tough combats of course.

I'm going to take my camera into the tournament, so you're going to get a battle report too! smile So, what do you think about the list? I don't have anything which could destroy the war machines, but I don't have anything which could give points easily neither! I don't fear war machines too much as my units are intended to go into the close combat (and Wraiths can't be hurt by catapults rolleyes ), and I have the Ironcurse Icon after all so I have nothing to worry about. cheesygrin

I would split the wraith unit, just to get more drops in. one unit of 3 and a unit of 4. unless you have a plan you like to do with 7 of them. and also with the ghoulkin movement just be sure your wraiths are still in that 12'' radiace so they can get up the field quick. other than that looks very solid for a 2000 point tourny. GOOD LUCK!
