So, finals are fast approaching at my college, which means that winter break is just around the corner! I will finally manage to get back to a place where people actually play Warhammer Fantasy and not just 40k. As such, it seems that I am destined for a rematch against my nemesis and his verminous horde (Skaven). I'm getting tired of losing to this guy. I've beaten the Skaven before, but I've yet to win a battle against this particular player. But perhaps his luck is about to change. After all, I have the whole of Carpe Noctem on my side!

But anyway, the point of the list is to be magic heavy with lots of horde infantry. The two Ghoul hordes should be a match for his Clanrats, and the Grave Guard will annihilate. Blood Knights should chew their way through virtually anything the Skaven have to offer, and my Kastellan's Balefire Spike should pop a few flaming wounds onto any Hellpit Abominations that may come his way. The Skaven shouldn't have an answer for this particular Mannfred Setup. Even if he takes Thanquol + Boneripper, I just don't see him overcoming the +6 to cast and dispel. And those D6 +2 Warpstone Tokens can say hello to 2 free PD per Magic Phase.

One more thing: I may have underpaid on Mannfred. I don't have the particular point value for the Book of Ashur in front of me, but it's possible I'm 5 points short. If someone can clarify this, it would be awesome. It just means I'll have to nix the Balefire Spike or maybe sacrifice a Grave Guard trooper.

As always, any comments or suggestions are more than welcome. Just don't bring up the "Artefacts of Death" argument.

I see your point. It would be much more useful if he could use the darned thing after the first round of combat. I'll probably just get rid of the Kastellan completely and use the leftover points for more Ghouls.

Wait you can't use your balefire spike in combat other than the turn you charged. I thought that the I have to use this one rule superceded the can't use a lance in non charging combat turns rule. Has it been faq'd by anychance, I know it isn't in the vamp counts faq. Could somebody please clerify.

On another note seeing as you don't have the hatred banner on your blood knights, you might think about giving the kastellan the asf sword for 25 pts, to get re-rolls against a good amount of opponents, and a chance to strike before enemy hero's.

Hmm, good point about the ASF sword, but I really don't have the points for it. The plan is to use VDM to get those lovely re-rolls anyway.

And yes, the lance is only usable the turn you charge. I just said "first turn of combat" because I can't imagine a situation where I would be stupid enough to let my Blood Knights take a charge. So effectively, the first turn of combat is the turn that they charged. Which is why I'm getting rid of the spike. Just not worth it.
