3500 points Vampires (6th edition, need help!)

Hi there! grin Me and my friend decided to play a 6th edition game on the next weekend. We decided to have a pretty big game size because we play 6th edition rarely, so 3500 points sounded good for both of us. He wanted to take Mortals of Chaos and I decided to take my Vampires.

But now I need help... I've never played a game in th edition! neutral I started playing on the moment when 7th edition came out, but I have no experience of 6th edition nor 6th edition Vampires (I still have the army book). I can play 6th edition as I've read the big read book, but I need some tactical advice.

So, my list is here. I have two high level casters (another with Lvl 3 and five spells and another Lvl 4), three Lvl 2 wizards with a couple of pound spells and finally +1 PD and DD. And three Dispel Scrolls. smile Cores are filled by four big units of Skeletons debloyed 4-wide, some Ghoul units to eat his bait units and some dogs and small Ghoul units for baiting his frenzy models, capturing table quarters and so on.

The BSB goes with the Black Knights (6-wide unit). The Knights can even kill something. Grave Guards are there for smashing something, they go either 7-wide with halberds or 4-wide with shields (depends on a moment).

The Black Coach tries to flank charge things and Banshees try to scream the Knights away (the Chaos Knights are core in this army book eek).

Both lords go with the biggest Skelly unit, the rest of the wizards split between the units. My target is to get lots of combat resolution with ranks, outnumber, banners, flank charges (either with hitty things or raised Skeletons) and then auto break my opponent. The hard things are supposed to be baited (or screamed cheesygrin) away and then flank charged.

What do you think? Do I have done something very wrong?

And last but not least... If this is on wrong forum idea then please accept my apologize and move this on the correct place. smile I tried to send this list on the 6th edition forum area, but somehow the forum denied it. neutral

But yes, comments are welcome! smile

You concidered zombies ? If i remember right they were better in the 6ed than in 7 or 8 with similar cost.

Also, if i remember right there might be a banner that causes -1 to hit your unit and an area 6" item "cursed book" that caused opponent to hit with -2. Makes up a good combination. I think cursed book was 25pts so, worth trading to a dispel scroll.

Knights hitting your lord with 6's, his characters 6's or 5's. And hitting with 5's to skeletons is nasty thing with outnumbering fear surprised

Even zombies manage to do something with -1 to hit area.

Thank you for your comments. smile

I checked the book and I didn't find anything about -1 to hit banner... Maybe you have remembered wrong? I started to think about the Cursed Book... It costs 50 points, but the effect is great especially when I'm fighting against Chaos.

Should I drop the Wight Lord's Gem of Blood and replace it by the Cursed Book? My Knights would be in better save and multiple combats with my Knights and Skellies would be more fun... Vampire3 Or should I just give it to a Necromancer and play him with my Skeletons? Or maybe a Necromancer on a steed with my Knights? grin

I changed the list a bit... We talked about our lists yesterday and my opponent said he has only Knights of Khorne. They are ItP so my Banshee Scream doesn't work against them. I dropped the Banshees and took an another Necromancer. Comments?
