Fantastic army, it really is great. The caster lord is my favourite, closely followed by the pumpkin Varghulf. Very creative and well painted Thumbs Up

IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN!

Sorry, that's what first comes to mind when I see your Varghulf. Although, I don't think he'll be bringing candy to all the little boys and girls. But on the whole, great army. How on earth did you make those banners? The raised designs are fantastic!

I love them! I really can't put a "favorite" on any of them as I love them all. How did you paint them so smoothly? Any special techniques?

These are amazing. I'd really like to know what all went in to some of these conversions.

Fantastic work, I like what you did with Harry the Hammer's base! Nice conversions all the way through. Just one question: Where did you get that cute dryad model from? (Not Drycha, the one on the right)

RE: Abomination`s abominations

Thank you very much indeed.

I´ll just answer your questions from top to bottom:

1. The Banners. They are from the Game Zone Corpse Cart
[Image: 07-40%20Vampire%20Harvester%20Chariot%20-%20GZ%201.jpg]

2. painting techniques: hm........ well .... I simply used a lot of washes. One important aspect is to put on 2 layers of primer. first the chaos black spray, and then a second layer with skull white, while the black is still wet. Try not to make the white layer too thick, so that you still have a greyish-black tone in the niches.
The first layer of black is important, since the white spray tends to turn out too thick to be used to cover the Miniature fully. So, use the black to cover it completely.
The white applies a pre-shading, and since the colours mix a bit, both loose some of their intensity, making them smoother and easier to paint on.

Bones: denebh stone, bleached bone, gryphonne sepia, devlan mud in the deeper parts.

Banshee-white: ivoy (by vallejo model colour), a mixture of leviathan purple and baal red / hairs: asurmen blue ) followed by a thin layer of ivory for highlights.

Black: Chaos black highlighted with dark sea blue ( by vallejo model colour ). This colour is simply amazing. absolutely versatile. try it out for shading, etc. ( and the best colour to highlight black with )

Red: Mechrite red, Marcharius solar orange, fiery orange on the fringes, finishing thick layer of baal red to soften out the highlights and improve the red.

rusty iron ( skeletons etc.) : Scorched brown as primer. dabs of mechrite red, dabs of mech red-sol orange, dabs of sol orange, finished by a few dabs of Boltgun Metal mixed with tin bitz.

3. Banshee: This was made by Reaper miniatures. It actually is a dryad and had a stupid dagger in its left hand, so i modelled a branch to replace it.

4. varghulf: the mound of bones is the base of Harry the hammer, the small pumkinhead and the small skeleton with the candle are haemuncucli by GW and the Pumpkinhead itself is a scarecrow by reaper called "gauntfield"
I didn`t like the legs, so i cut them off and remodelled the cape.

5.Vampire: a conversion of Konrad von Carstein by GW. I really liked the cape of bats, but hardly anything else, so i cut it all of. the hands and swords are from the Dark Elf corsairs.[Image: m1182219_99060207171_VCKonradVonCarstein...45x319.jpg]

So, have to go find some food now, I hope this proves to be helpful.

The horror... the horror...

Beautiful. My favourites are the caster lord and the varghulf. The varghulf in particular is very nicely posed, great idea for the base. Good job siR!

Your work has a very nice, understated quality.I look forward to seeing more in the future.
My only criticism is that I think your skellies need a little more dark wash on their ribs...for seperation.

RE: Abomination`s abominations

Very nice indeed.

I might have to steal the banshee idea (I dont have any banshee's yet to go with my 6 or so wraiths). Innocent

That varghulf is truely unique.

Keep up the good work! Thumbs Up

Excellent looking army! I really like the Varghulf conversion as an Abyssal Terror as well. I also really like your Wight Kings, simple but effective and menacing! Thanks for posting!
