I hope you like them, they were a blast to paint. I am a quite lazy painter but also a bit of a perfectionist, which of course isn't the best of combinations...

Excellent work on the entire army, good job! The grave guard look especially nice (including their delicious banner of course). The only colour scheme I don't really like is the chipped armour on the Blood Knights, I didn't like GW's take on that much either though, the painting itself is great! 8)

Love your army! a lovely paint job and great fiery colour scheme! i also like your Daughter doing a zombie pose! I think he will make a great VC player! As everyone says, awesome banenr, I also like the clothes of the grave guard. I love the blood knights and their banner as well! grin The grave guard great weapons in my opinion could be more dirtied up but thats just because I like my dead things to look all rusty and old. Zombie1
keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more!

RE: Army of Lady Ilithra

Thanks all for he feedback!

@Pil: Yeah I had some issues with the chipping myself, I should have done it with say boltgun metal instead of mithril silver for a more subtle look maybe ( and I should have been more patient with it...).

Looking good! I hadn't noticed the Blood Knights banner yet but as merenwen said it's also lovely! The skeleton banner seems to have received a bit less attention but I can imagine because, well, they're skeletons 8)

Thanks for your comments!

@nikostratus: As I am a lazy painter, the gold is just 2 layers of shining gold basecoat with a devlan mud wash. I then highlighted the edges with a mithril silver/shining gold mix (50:50). easy and fast! next paint project is another 10 grave guards and then anoher varghulf

Very Impressive, would love to know how you did the gold on the grave guard helmets as looking to do a similar colour scheme myself, when I get round to it. Also a lazy painter and perfectionist, but don't seem to get the result that you have with my paint jobs :-(

Really likin' what I see here!
That Grave Guard banner is absoluteness gorgeous!

If you don't mind me asking, how do you do the vampires skin?
I'n terrible at painting Skin (9 years and counting as a Lizardmen player will do that to you) and mine always comes out as really, really rotten (would look great for ghouls and zombies) or too human.

Looking forward to seeing the planned new editions!

RE: Army of Lady Ilithra

I´m very greatful for all your kind words! thank you!

@Monkey's_Uncle: The skin on the avatars of war vampire (the one pointing with the sword) is a mix of dheneb stone, astronomican grey and a pinch of elf flesh (possibly totally redundant...). I think I then washed it with a mix of ogryn flesh and leviatan purple, followed by a highlight with dheneb stone and another highlight with bleached bone. I then washed the eyes with a bit watered down leviatan purple.

The other two vamps are pure dheneb stone basecoat followed by an ogryn flesh wash. I then highlighted with dheneb stone and another highlight with bleached bone. Finally I washed the eyes and some oif the deepest recesses with watered down leviatan purple.

I'm not 100 percent happy with the other two but too lazy to paint them in the same manner that I painted the AoW model.
Hope it helps!

Just tried that method and it works a treat!
Thanks for sharing it with me.

It's the first time I've managed to get skin tone that doesn't either look too dead, or too alive.

Cheers for the tips and I'm looking forward to seeing any other stuff you paint.

Awesome. appart from the banner I had to actually get up (yes, it made me do THAT!) and look if you had stolen my prized GG. I have exactly the same colour scheme and use more or less same paints and techniques (from what I can see) on my GG. Espacially love the baby/zombie, might have to steal that idea, then id never loose mwhahahahahaha!!!!!!!

RE: Army of Lady Ilithra

Hi everyone!

Its time for a small and loooooong overdue update on my army:

my second varg:

New wraits and banshee:
These guys took about an afternoon to paint, I just drybrushed like there was no tomorrow! The banshee is painted using the excellent etheral painting guide from the invocation issue 6. I haven't quite mastered the etheral painting yet, but for a lazy guy like me, it's good enough.

Next up will be 2 bases of spirit hosts (for the "winds of undeath") and the painfully detailed zombiedragon... One of the best sculpts I've seen, but man.... painting the guts in the ribcage will be a challenge to say the least.
