Chariot Ward Saves

Hey all,

I had a quick question regarding the coven throne, and chariots in general.

I was under the impression that the ward save that the Coven Throne has cannot be used by the vampire, but when talking to some people at the local shop, one mentioned that the Empire "pope," as he called it (and I have no idea who he is referring to), has a 4++ that is conferred by his chariot.

Now, I am asking for some clarification, does the Vampire or Vampire Lord benefit from the Chariot's Ward Save? I am looking at the section in the BRB (Pg 86 and beyond), and I am going to assume that no, he does not get the benefit of the 4++ from the throne, but am I mistaken?

I don't think you are mistaken. As far as I'm aware, the coven throne would not confer it's 4+ ward save to the rider. Kinda sucks eh?

You are right, ward save do not transfer from chariot to character, or vice versa. The War Altar (or Pope Mobile) have a special rule that grant a ward to both the chariot and the Priest on top, so it's the exception rather than the norm :p

They do not transfer, as a corpse car don't grant regeneration on the Necro upside it.
But some "mounts" has special rules, as the mentioned war altar, or lizardmen stegadon (wich grants 2+ armor save to the priest in it)

RE: Chariot Ward Saves

similar question about chariot saves but the armour save.

In regards to the armour save from the likes of a Corpse Cart and the like....does that carry over to the rider? Like say a Master Necromancer in the case of a corpse cart as a mount, just it says that the necromancer replaces the corpsemaster. I dont have access to the rule book at the moment is the only reason why i ask.

I'm pretty sure the BRB states that a Chariot is the same as a barded steed? So they give +2 to what ever their save is? I'll check really quick.

Ok, for normal chariots it doesn't do anything (But then again, there is no one to hit, as a normal chariot is counted as a single 'model' for wounds/hits). But when a character is mounted on a chariot, they gain +1 to their AS. Not the +2 I thought they got, but still decent I suppose.

BRB, pag 105 " ... a charcter riding a chariot is considered both a character and chariot unit type. Otherwise, they follow ALL RULES about MONSTROUS MOUNTS (save the monstrous reactions one)"

So by rules, a chariot mounted character is the same as a dragon mounted one. +1 bonus to AS and random shooting hits (including warmachines)

Keep in mind that template attacks (like cannons) hit both the rider and the mount, these aren't randomized (BRB 105). But shots from a ballista would be randomized.

Yes that is. A cannon will gladly put a str 10/D6 wounds both in your cart and your Necro, and the poor caster doesn´t even have a chance with his 6+ armor for being mounted...Gravestone.GIF

(Really, i would mean EXCLUDING warmachines. Sorry for bad english spelling :redfacesmile
