This shall be the thread for my skaven army, Clan Skritch. Hopefully the first photo update will come tomorrow.

The clan is (so far) made up of -

2 x Skaven Warlord (1 x metal Games Day limited edition figure, 1 x IoB)
1 x Exalted Vermin Lord (Forge World)
1 x Banelords Banner-rat (Quick-Blade)
5 x Skaven Wolf Rats
40 x IoB Clanrats
2 x Rat Ogres (with 1 x Packmaster)

For now, here's the background -

Clan Skritch

Clan Skritch is a now-powerful Warlord Clan, now based in the dwarven hold of Karak Ki-Rign. This ancient dwarf hold, built at the height of dwarven power, is located in the Apuccini Mountains, between Tilea and the Border Princes. When Clan Skritch first came to the region, they were a sorry excuse of a clan, with few slaves and even fewer warriors.

They settled on the outermost fringes of Fester Spike, paying homage to the warlord there and being heavily tithed. However, they were led by Fitch Warp-Eye, who was treacherously sneaky even by SKaven standards, and he managed to hide away and build up quite a stash of warp-tokens, as well as hijacking caravans of warpstone and framing rival clans. With this newfound wealth, he bribed other clan leaders and hired the service of some war beasts and even an Eshin assassin. With these resources in place, Warlord Krik Rot-Spike was assassinated and the various chieftain's vied for his position, back-stabbing and throat-slitting in the process. Through various alliances and counter-alliances, Fitch allowed his enemies to destroy themselves whilst securing his own power base, which was growing, as was his clans wealth.

Having finally established himself as the undisputed ruler of Fester Spike, he set about exhausting the warpstone ore that lay undiscovered beneath the mountain, so that he could bankroll a major campaign against the dwarves of Karak Ki-Rign.

This he managed, after purchasing the help of Clans Moulder and Skyre, and a long war of attrition that burned through most of Fester Spike's wealth and most of it's fighting power, as well.Be that as it may, however, Karak Ki-Rign was Fitch's, and he established a new power base there, keeping most of his fighting strength there and essentially forming a new clan. A skaven-slave uprising removed the rest of his influence over Fester Spike, but by that time there was little warpstone left and no real wealth there.

In the new hold and warrens that was being excavated, there was plenty of warpstone to be found and dwarven devices worth a lot to agents from Skyre. That is how Skritch became a real power in the Border Princes, Black Mountains and Alpuccini Mountains, with smaller warrens based throughout them and many minor clans in their thrall.

In recent years, the Skaven of Clan Skritch have come across a swathe of land in the foothills of the Alpuccini Mountain and in the Karnos Forest. To the humans, it is known as the du Coudray Suggero, and is ruled over by a family of vampires who bear the name du Coudray. They have often come into conflict with this family, whilst trying to take their workers for slaves and their artefacts for Grey Seer Mitchet, who has attached himself to the clan to ensure they are serving the will of the Council of Thirteen ... And himself.

Honestly, I don't know what convinced me to start Skaven. It might have been just pouring over the GW site, and loving the minis, or the fact that my brother got some off his mate YEARS ago and gave them to me, and I decided to do something with them. They're not in the list above, 'cause I'm not sure what's there yet. And most of it needs stripping and re-painting.

Lovely rattishness! Thats some nice fluff you got going on there. I can't wait to see your progress. I enjoyed watching your Undead army progress last year.

Ahha, you mean me just building up what I had and then never painting it? =\ Still have all of that to do ... May have to revive that thread. But I'll do some ratty photos in a minute. Need to pin the Exalted Vermin Lord to his base first.

Here's some skulls I got from Amazon - I plan to make a scenery piece ... i did plan on making something like Mount Rushmore, but it might be a bit ambitious for now

Of course, Fitch Warp-Eye is no match For Nithek Deathclaw. Clan Skritch better not cross the might of Clan Deathclaw!

When you say Mount Rushmore what did you have in mind, Human Skulls or Skaven Skulls? Couldn't you get a rat skull and cast it? I think that would be the only thing that is going to match the epicness of your army!

In art class when I was back in high school, for one project one girl created a canvas depicting two dragons. One of the dragons partially came out of the canvas, and used a foxes skull that she found. She didn't cast it.

Also, Malochai, I noticed those shields are all put together... you building a bonebreaker or war litter?

I'm gonna use a war litter to start with - I'm using a website called BitzBox which has individual parts from Games Workshop boxes and resells them, so I don't need to buy an entire box just for two of them I'll wait until I have a larger force before having a Bonebreaker.

@ Abyssal, I hadn't considered that ... Could be pretty awesome!

The vermin lord model is soooo nice! The only problem I have is that the joins for the arms and horns are kind of ... Crappy ...

EDIT: u_m, I have to say they are pretty high quality models as well. FW is producing some cracking stuff, and they are up there at the top.

Oh, sorry to double post, and whilst I know it's not Skritch-related, I just had to post this - I've finally got Kingdom Death models on order!

The new Lion Knight 2nd and the Encore edition of the Flower Knight. I'm soooo glad I managed to get a hold of the Flower Knight, I've been after it for aaaages

I've had mixed feelings about that Vermin Lord for some time now and I still think it's left side looks absolutely brilliant, but it's ruined by the fat right side.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing more Skaven here on CN.

Honestly, it does look weird, but I think that adds to the quintessential Skaven-ness of it ...
