Cuzzy´s children of Chaos, back from the dead!

Hi everyone,

I got a lot of usefull tips here and I thought I´d show you some of my latest work.
My first army was a beastmen army and I´m redoing them now. Stripping the paint of my old models so I can have a fresh start.
It´s not much yet but there´s more where they came from.

My standard bearer for the gor unit
(I´m not so good on the freehand but I thought it looked nice)

One of the two Chaos Spawns
[Image: ChaosSpawn1.jpg] [Image: ChaosSpawn2.jpg]

I made these a while back (still looks funny)
[Image: ChaosCustomspawn1.jpg] [Image: ChaosCustomspawn2.jpg]

Pictures are not the best and they look much better in person.
I am proud at how my work is getting better. wink

So what do you guys think about ´em smile

I like the eyes in the spawn; it's very well done.

RE: Cuzzy´s children of Chaos

The eyes in the spawn are awesome, saying that the spawn in general looks really nicely painted cuz, i love the transitions from the skin to the extremities look nice and poisoned also gives some link to the army scheme!

And the banner looks fine like count said it fits with the beastmen feel. They just wouldn't have immaculate banners they probably wipe their arses with them!

RE: Cuzzy´s children of Chaos

Here´s a small update.
finished some marauder horsemen that I started a while ago
(I have some warriors of chaos minis wich are painted red but I´m not making an entire khorne army, they will probably not be in the actual war herd but I thought I´d share them with you in this thread)

And this musician for my gor unit.
(I experimented a little whith greenstuff making a mutated arm and filling the gaps between arms and body)

[Image: Gormusician3.jpg] [Image: Gormusician2.jpg]

and last but not least this chaos warrior I had lying around got a decent paintjob.

Oppinions any?

Painting does not go so fast because I don´t have much time besides the weekend.
I might be able to finish that seccond spawn by tomorrow so stay tuned people!

Looks pretty good mate, I have found when painting red giving a purple wash, then painting the raised areas same as base color and then highlighting very effective.

Nice musculature on the musician.
I don't think the marauders are out of place...Korn has a habit of turning up in the unlikeliest of places wink.

As promised here's the seccond chaos spawn

Not that happy with the collour on the beak. Should I stay with green or should I apply a different collour?

RE: Cuzzy´s children of Chaos

I think that you should do the beak a bone tone and then drybrush orange then maybe wash brown. It should give it a corroded natural beak look..which is extra horrifying IMHO.You don't want any confusion on the enemies part...that's definately BEAK! Scared
Maybe bloody the tip....leftovers from previous beaKing

RE: Cuzzy´s children of Chaos

I honestly wouldnt do the bone like that, if you want just easy to do bone then bleached bone, devlun mud wash, dry brush bleach bone and then a very light dry brush of skull white.

if you want to something a bit more complicated then I start with snakebite leather and just blend up to skullwhite.

RE: Cuzzy´s children of Chaos

hmmmm i think your forgetting its a spawn its rather daemonic it can be any colour i like the fact its abit different and green.
Saying that if you look at real birds beaks the longer they are the darker they usually are (bar birds like the Toucan etc) so maybe go for dark greys and blacks? with the odd hint of colour, orange and yellow would work.
Or black/greys on the top and a yellow colour on the bottom (bubonic brown would be an excellent colour or desert yellow)

Just my 2 cents though.

RE: Cuzzy´s children of Chaos

Thanks guys.
I like the idea of that darker top and yellow bottom, or vice versa.
I don´t want it to be a collour explosion so I will pick a collour close to what I have already used.

RE: Cuzzy´s children of Chaos

Well...no one is surprised by a beak being orange or yellow...does it look out of place on a duck? ...
I guess I'm just a beak fundamentalist.Ever since I saw the Terror Bird on 'Mega-Beasts' I've just had a soft spot for a good beak murdering.
Color is also a cue as to what something is...that green thing hanging off it's face takes a minute to process.
The eyes are hard to distinguish as well.Glints of white might help.
