Dark Hordes - a necromancer/horde army list

Some friends and I have been working on this project for a little while. It's a magic-heavy necromancer-based undead list, including cult of nagash (non-undead) and some new undead constructs. We're fans of the 5th edition undead and are attempting to recreate a similar feeling in the 7th ed. environment.

It's a WIP and we are trying to balance it out and expand it. We'd love to get some feedback from fellow night fiends. If anyone's interested, the current list can be found here: http://www.thezombiesquig.co.uk/dark_hor...hizzar.php

We've also tried to fit in some of the old characters (Nagash, Kemmler, etc.), but we're still juggling the points costs a bit. The main motivation is the inclusion of insane necromancers who love dabbling in depraved experiments with other people's flesh and herding massive hordes of corpses into battle.

That is really interesting. I need to spend more time looking at in indepth before I offer feedback.

In return I would suggest you look at the link in my sig for CN's user project - The Legion of Nagash.

Disciple of Nagash, the perverted master,
The more you struggle, the more he goes faster.
Give him breast, and give him bust,
The more you give the more he thrusts.
And as you all shall soon see, there is nothing that he will not conceive
Whether dark or whether weird, its guaranteed to make you real
But in the end we all see, he is the forum master and perverted seed.

That list actually looks pretty awesome ZombieSquig, full of "flavour" and "character" if you know what I mean. Not to mention the fact that I actually tend more towards liking necromancers than I do vampires, although I like them both to a degree. Also, I notice you included liches! That was enough, in itself, to catch my eye! grin The Hate-spewer rule for the Deathcult Inciter is also clever.

The only obvious issue that I can see is that Kemmler's actually not a liche, he's still alive, technically speaking. So in the sentence "Kemmler is a liche of substantial power" you might consider swapping out liche for necromancer.

Also, would you consider adding Arkhan the Black to the list? He'd fit very nicely, I think. smile

Thanks for the comments. For now we're just gathering feedback and playtesting. Arkhan is definitely something we want to add at some point, but we want to balance the list as much as we can first.

RE: Dark Hordes - a necromancer/horde army list

Just to let you guys know, we've updated this project for 8th edition rules.

It's been a while since I updated this thread and the army has evolved a lot since then. We implemented some of the changes we wanted to see for VC in 8th, such as cheaper zombies and a buff spell for undead units.

The focus is on liches and necromancers. It also has Necrarch vampires which are still loyal to Nagash. (We considered ditching vampires altogether, but we love the Necrarchs too much!) We've also focused on flesh mutations and botched experiments, some of which are available as items in the 'Fleshworks' section. Units of zombies can be merged together using magic into larger constructs, making the army more dynamic and unique.

Disease is another theme of the army, brewed by vile alchemists to spread death among the living. Fetid carriers are infected zombies herded into battle and blightspreader catapults lob bucketfulls of diseased cadavers into the enemy's lines.

We've also made a few more general changes, for example the army doesn't start crumbling until all lords are killed, not just the general. We feel that makes the army more viable in massive games (and we've had a couple of them already!).

Detailed changelist: http://www.thezombiesquig.co.uk/dark_hor...2.php#1.25
