Digging Up My Old Vampire Counts

Twelve years ago I started playing warhammer. A large necrodrake model that I had bought on impulse at Gen Con steered me toward the Vampire Counts. I evetually built up 5000 points or so, mostly painted, and played them quite a bit for many years.

Over the last few years, though, I started other projects. I have just recently finished 3.5K Ogre Pirate and Empire Marienburg armies, and with the new release of the VC, it's now time to dig up--pun intended--my old VC models and blow the dust off of them. I'll post lots of pictures as I go of the models in their current state and any retouching I do, as well as any new models I add in.

Here is a teaser pic:

This is a werewolf (counts as Varghulf) that I did after the clawed fiend came out for 40K.

RE: Digging Up My Old Vampire Counts

The werewolf looks great.

I plan to dig up some more of my figures too. I just hope I dont chop off any zombie's heads with the shovels tip.

So with your recent digging up of your models I wanted to let you now about the monthly challenge we do each month where we convert a model of the old world into the undead. This month is a necromancer made out of the empire wizard kit. If you wish to know more please check out this link.

Hadn't left the hobby; I'd just been working on other armies. Having just finished Empire and Ogres, I'm ready to go back to my old VC.

First up will be 25 zombies and a Sartosan Pirate. I'm working on finishing my undead pirates contingent.

Here are a few more. First, an ethereal vampire and an old wolf-form vamp (sadly, no longer an option).

RE: Digging Up My Old Vampire Counts

Here are a few more units for the undead pirates portion of the army, based on the old story of Mannfred von Carstein assaulting Marienburg with a navy of Imperial barges and their former crews.

Spirit Hosts--the four in the back middle double as a banshee and three wraiths.

Skeleton Crew

The Ghouls

Sartosan Pirate, Mordheim Vampire, Sartosan Prince, and Necromancer

Once I finish my 25 zombies, the pirate crew will be done and I can get to work on their ship.

This will be their ship, the MegaBloks Flying Dutchmen. Note the captain on the foredeck for scale.

What character! I love how this army feels really unique. While every piece has a distinctive feel you've really managed to pull off a sense of cohesion!

That ship is the bomb. I can tell this is going to be a characterful army (my favorite kind) Thumbs Up Please keep them coming.

Thanks, all. The ship comes that color. I plan to prime and paint it and add a few bits and bobs as well. The zombies are almost done!

Finally, 3 vargheists and a flying strigoi ghoul king:

This last group specializes in assaulting walls in siege battles, but have many other uses. :-)

Thanks! It was to "gutsy" not to use, plus makes a nice filler model.

Next up is the ghost ship, except I've been hijacked at the moment by some dwarf pirates.
