ETC-report!

Well, I'm going to start my report of the ETC now:

All the lists are on the warhammer forum in the ETC Whfb section.

We left the Friday at 13 o'clock, but due to some problems we only arrived at 2 am in the hotel.

The first day we arrived at the event and in the first round we were immediately paired against Germany! I had a random pairing and I was paired against the other VC player.

Due to him having a funbus and me having the 2 units of GG, I knew I had a chance to pull this one into my favour.

He immediately went agressive and sent his funbus on a flank, which I anticipated by bulking the ghoul unit he threatened to a 40 or so and putting the GG on their side behind a defended obstacle. The rest of our armies had a Mexican stand-off.
He went into the ghouls with his funbus in the 2nd round, but there were of course still some left and in the next turn he had a countercharge with vanhel's (he had blocked with this fellbats). I wounded 8! times, but he saved 6... . He racked up pts by targeting the ghouls and I crumbled a bit. Tough luck, but I could keep the GG at a normal number with the rasing. I had good fortune when my wraiths charged his fell bats and overran 11 inch ( I needed 9)into his ghoul unit with supporting helm-vampire, which I killed in turn 3.
The 4th turn saw him fluffing all his attacks with the funbus on only the 7 GG-strong unit and in counter they killing-blowed his wight king BsB.
On the other flank, the stalemate was broken with his goul-horde charging the other GG unit (with flaming attacks), but due to my helm it was a draw, and then I countercharged with my ghouls in his flank.

At this time, the battle ended, due to the fact that time was up. A shame, because the battle was going my way now, due to some good luck and he fluffing 1 turn of combat with his funbus, but we both had a good time and a tactical battle.

In the end I had his helm-vampire, the wight king BsB,a necromancer, fell bats and dire wolves and he had of me one unit of ghouls and 50 percent of the depleted GG unit, resulting in a 11-9 win for me.

I was dissapointed though that I was the only one in my team to end the battle in my favour so the team lost 60-100...

RE: ETC-report!

Hello everybody!

I'm finally going to continue my report of the ETC-weekend I participatedredface

After the solid defeat of our team, we got Latvia as next opponent. I was thrown as one of the first and got to choose daemons/warriors. As the WoC player didn't have any magical weapons and a couple of flaws in his list (3 ogresneutral?), the choice was easy.

He got first turn and apart from him blowing up his hellcanonsmile and me scrolling his infernal gateway, nothing much happened. He did advance everything at full force though.
I decided to bulk out the ghoul unit on my left to about 40-50 and on the right the wraiths threatened a large block (40) of marauders. The 2 GG units held the center and the varghulf lurked in the back. The ghoul unit on the right went in support of the wraiths to finish the marauders off.

In his 2nd turn he rolled an 11 for the infernal gateway on my most expensive GG unitMad2. This was really annoying, because I had the battle fully under control and the infernal gateway was the only thing he had to give me some concern.

In the next turns my wraiths on the right side of the table continued to mince the marauders and the big block of ghouls on the left made a vanhel's charge into the other marauders, who they utterly minced (WS 7, re-rolls and poison!). I rolled well on the winds of magic, so I could vanhel's them again in combat and I diverted his central block of warriors with a raise dead. The varghulf moved into position to start threatening his L4 and the wraiths went through the marauders on the right with help from the ghouls.

Finally, I got to pincer his warrior block in the last turns due to both ghoul units doing their job. Unfortunately, when I flanked his unit of 6 trolls, with the ghouls on the right, he saved 6 of the 8 wound inflicted and then rolled '12' on the eye of the gods table. Because of that, I only managed to break them in the final turn. The varghulf hunted the L4 down thx to vanhel's, which made the trolls less stubbornPerv.

The last feat of the battle was me charging the last standing block of his warriors with my still 45-strong block of ghouls. Again I got vanhel's and WS 7, making him test on a Ld of 5 (with BsB), and of course he made itrolleyes, robbing me of a 20-0. I had the game fully under control, but some setbacks only gave me a 17-3 win. I lost a unit of GG and the wraiths, which he magicked down...

But all-in-all a good turn for us, as the team won 100-60!

Up to the next!

RE: ETC-report!

Good report, congrats on the win - this sounds like another one of those games in which luck has an all-to-important roll on the battle.

Before responding indignantly, please consider the above post to be laden with the following smiley: cheesygrin
