This thread is for voting on the one of the Core options for the Legion of Nagash - Favoured Ones

Please note: This is not to vote whether they fit in with the theme etc. That is what the discussion in the threads is for.

It is to check and ensure we have created fair rules that are not unbalancing, or there is not something grossly wrong that has been over looked.

Favoured Ones - 7 pts./model

On the slopes of Nagahsizzar reside a a foul breed of humans. They swore themselves to Nagash long ago, and their ritual sacrafices to him long ago turned into macabre feasts of flesh and blood. Despite their cannabalism driving these foul ghouls insane, they still retain a low cunning and intelligence enough to use weapons. When Nagashs legions march to war, they follow in its wake, prowling along the flanks of his armies, hunting down their next meal.

Favoured One....... M 4 / WS 3 / BS 3 / S 3 / T 4 / W 1 / I 3 / A 2 / Ld 7
Greater Fiend....... M 4 / WS 3 / BS 3 / S 3 / T 4 / W 1 / I 3 / A 3 / Ld 7

Unit Strength: 5-20

Equipment
-Claws
-Throwing Spears

Options:
-Any unit may upgrade one Favoured One to a Greater Fiend for +7pts.

Special Rules
Nagashi
Skirmishers
Poisoned Attacks (also applies to thrown weapons)

The Dark Feast
The feasting of flesh is an honour to the Dark Lord, and none would deny the Favoured Ones their chance to show their devotion. In battle any they killed are devoured where they fall, an act that not even Dreadlords of Nagash would dare interfere with.
The Favoured Ones cannot pursue or overun. In addition no characters may join any units of Favoured Ones.

I'd say they should be a bit cheaper; from what I've seen you lose a lot of raising ability in the Legion, and Undead infantry pay a lot for the ability to be re-raised. Throwing spears, even poisoned, isn't worth that much, so I'd peg them at 7pts apiece.

I agree with Kaladas. They are overpriced now. They are Alive and hence not ItP which evens out the benefit of Skirmish, however with the lack of IoN spam in the LoN these guys should be at the same price if not cheaper than VC Ghouls. 7-8 points I'd say.

I'd also throw a vote for cutting them back by one point or so. Other than that they look just fine to me.

VC Ghouls are undercosted in the opinion of a lot of people...

I would be okay with 8 points... but 7 is probably too low.

Oh, I didn't notice they were Alive.

In that case, I'd advocate 7 points. Free Company are 6 AFAIK, and while these guys lose bow capability, they gain throwing spears and Poison.

The thing is VC Ghouls exist in a different context...the Legion of Nagash does not have the Ghoulkin move, nor does it have IoN spam or the Summon Ghouls vampiric power. The argument that because VC Ghouls are undercosted, Nagashi ghouls should be at least the same price now is an invalid one for the reasons listed above IMO.

I'd say 7 pts as well. Sure they are T4 and have 2A, but they don't negate rank bonus, are alive, and can't pursue or overrun.
Or, how about an option of 9pts but they have scout rule? (Like huntsmen of the empire)

I think we should stay away from scouts, so I think a reduction to 7pts with everything considered would be ok.
