First use of new book (Mega-battle)

Vital Statistics:

1. 12,000 points on each side! (3k/person)
2. High Elves, Wood Elves, Dwarves, and Goblins vs. Vampire Counts (x2), Skaven, and Warriors of Chaos
3. The game board (4'x18') had 5 objectives and each side scored a point at the end of every game turn for each one they held.
4. Magic was like Storm of Magic as far as dice were concerned (4D6 power and dispel take the 2 highest). This seemed to work well for both sides and was not overpowered.
5. Result: Win for "good" by 2 points.

My List:
Basically a strong flying flanking force of Vamp Lord on Zombie Dragon, 2 Terrorgheists, 10 Fell bats, 6 Vargheists, 1 Varghulf, and 40 wolves; and a smallish line of ghouls, skeletons, and zombies bolstered by a corpse cart and necromancer.

It started out well enough with screaming death from the Terrorgheists but eventually I lost my general and everything went poof (the necromancer had already died). I've learned that a Terrorgheist is not that great on its own in combat, even against Wood Elf archers (!). Also, Bat Swarms paired with anything are amazing! I had 2 of them with a horde of ghouls which turned out to be obscene (sure, against WEs, but still!)

But several things did sway the advantage in my "paired-off" opponents favor:

1. His WE prince (LD10) on a dragon prevented the TGs from doing real damage.
2. I was facing a deficits of 540 points.
3. I was unable to cast magic due to a HE dispeller on their side (+5).
4. My rolling was pretty rough (no really!). E.g. 24 Vargheist attacks wound 3 times; 10 Bat Swarm attacks (vs. WE cav) wound twice, etc. A Terrorgheist unable to appreciably beat WE archers in combat [did I mention that? Slap face].

I think if it were a straight up fight, I would have toasted him; mega-battles are a different kettle of fish for sure!

Things were looking good:

His general on the run and I overran into the Treeman (the soon-to-be killer of my general):
