I've got one simple question. Doas the banner of the eternal flame grant magical attacks?

My friend is convinced it does. It gives flamming attacks for sur but what about magical?

It is a magic banner so might be magical attaks. Since a magical weapon gives magical attacks. But a banner? I can't find any discription that it would give magical attacks.

So pls Help! The freaking banner kills my regen and my ethereal unit...

Nope you do not get magical attacks from it.

I think in 7th flaming attacks were automatically magical or something? But in 8th they are not.

No. There's a difference between flaming and magical. If you want proof of that look at the difference between the Banner of the Eternal Flame (8th BRB) and the Hellfire Banner (VC 7th, not sure if this made it to 8th, I haven't got my VC ab handy)

BRB, pag 175- Banner of Eternal Flame (5 slaves): Grants unit flaming attacks (but not magical)

Banner of Hellfire: grants units flaming AND magical attacks. sadly, this banner has been lost with the new book. (and was exclusive of VC)

Also, if he still doesn't believe you, have him look at Flaming Sword of Rhuin (lore of fire)..."...unit also counts as having both magical attacks and the Flaming attacks special rule."

If that still doesn't convince him, then nothing will.

There's also the example of Bretonnian peasant archers with the Fire upgrade. Just because they light their arrows on fire does nto make it magtical.

Your friend is likely confused as the Flaming attack comes from a magical source, and thus counts it as magical. However, just because it comes from a magical source does not make it magical.

-It does no such thing. Refer him to GW's FAQ which states that "All attacks made by spells and magic items are considered to be magical attacks, as are all attacks that are specifically noted as being magical attacks."(p.6)

Of course, if his banner bearer wants to stab your unit w/the banner, than maybe....
