Looks pretty good; What did you use for that Vampire on the Dragon's back?

I really like the base for the dragon you've got, although I have a thing for snow-type themes. I also see you have yours green as well? I saw.. was it Teeth? Pointyteeth I think? Has a Terrorgheist of the same color, but different torn-wing flaps.

Seems good though.

RE: Gabriells Vampire stuffz!

Hey!

Snowbase is no more im afraid. stuff didnt stick. remade the base like the ghouls. The Vampire is Lelith. Dark eldar special character. Dont know if I like her on the dragon though, would be handy to have a char you can just take of when needed.

Almost done with a Banshee. I'll try to fix a pic today. besides that Ive got half a Terrorgheist done, but I figured I'd do some cores, so theres a box of Direwolves thats nippin infront wink

More to come!

RE: Gabriells Vampire stuffz!

I'm torn on the idea of armor on Ethereal creatures; Like for instance the Host holding the new Coven Throne?

I think it's silly to draw a line that everything about them is ghostly, but paint the Metal items as though they are not? Why not cloth then? Why not other articles? Why is metal not 'Ghostly'?

It's a hard line for me to accept, and I'm currently trying to grapple with which way to take it. Because painting them a solid 'Ethereal' look is almost like painting a model just one colour, which is kinda lame also.

Your banshee looks nice though, I just have issues with where and why the line is drawn with Ethereal paint jobs.

I guess you could fluff up any number of reasons, but it still seems silly to me xP

RE: Gabriells Vampire stuffz!

I dont know. I like the look of it. You could argue the same with the Black Knight kit. how could a bone and barded horse march through solid stuff.

In the end, all I care about is how it looks. I can imagine the metal just looking metal. How would cloth go through a wall, for that matter wink

RE: Gabriells Vampire stuffz!

Good news! I have been issued a Challenge!

in my shop, my love for Krell and the story around him and Nagash is well known. My store regulars challenged, stating I would not be able to make a cool model for Nagash and make him Game viable aswell! Well Challenge accepted indeed...

First up was rule wise. I do enjoy using minis I spend alot of time on. Problems ofcourse are that he tends te be abit big in scale (the old model is the size of an Avatar) and there are no suitable candidates in the book on that base size.

the second problem was how to make him. His background and artwork seem to hint at a Nehekhara style model. and as stated, hes pretty imposing.

The solution, or so I hope to confirm with you guys, came when I looked at the Coven Throne. The rules seem just right (Future scrying kind of thing. Leadership thing to attack him (Cuz hes SCARY!) and a 4+ ward) but then I'd need to put him on a chariot base! thats a tad big!

So what I figured was, what if I used the Spirit host pulling the Coven Throne without the whole throne on it, but a nagash model floating above it? Almost like he is summoning a host of Spirits in midflight. Being awesome and such! I'd use the basis of an Ushapti to get the right style and size, and sculpt Nagash around it!

Then I can use him as my Vampire lord (lvl 4, Master of the Black Arts, Lore master Vampires and the Black Periapt) and have his faithfull old boy Krell marching to war along side him grin

Tell me what you think! any ideas? Please share them! maybe you have good ideas I can include in the project! I still need something to replace the Ushapti's head for instance. Im considering sculpting wink

RE: Gabriells Vampire stuffz!

Lets see:

Banshee:

Hair(Highlights) - Macr red -> Devlan mud -> 2/3 of the hairs Macrite -> 1/3 Blood red -> Tip Blazing orange

Skin - Full coat Astronomican -> 50/50 Turquois/Spacewolf -> then Spacewolf layering (about 1paint/10water) and a layer or... 8? final white layers about 3 with sharp edge as final highlight

armour - Boltgun -> Devlan -> Boltgun highlight -> Mithril highlight

Vargeist:

Hair(Highlights): - Macr red -> Devlan mud -> 2/3 of the hairs Macrite -> 1/3 Blood red -> Tip Blazing orange

Skin : Full coat Calthan -> Devlan wash -> 3 layers calthan -> 3 layers Snake bite -> Spots on the skin are scorch -> Bestial highlight

and with layer I mean thinned again like the banshee skin

Wings -> Charedon granite -> Highlight Charedon1/1Denheb stone (1 Layer)

Thats it give or take a colour or 2

I don't have the book off hand, but wouldn't Nagash be more of a Master Necro than vampire? I guess I've never delved into the fluff of him much, but I always thought he was like, the first undead, a crazed mortal who obtained immortality or some such. Not a vampire?

As for the model, I was going to suggest just using a mount to represent his larger size, and then you said about the Coven. Which seems pretty practical. Are you planning on mounting him on the platform? Or just having him in a cool action pose like, floating/flying forward? Maybe if he had like, Ethereal chains linked to the host, as though he was 'Reining' them in like a huntsmaster with a TON of hounds? Might be a cool idea. The abilities seem to fit though, for a god-awful powerful demigod lich Ghost

Could you use the older, Nagash head for a replacement? Seems like Nagash always had really ornate/decorative robes on. Like something I'd expect some WoW Raid Priest to have on or something xP Might be worth it to skip the Ushabti if you plan on actually sculpting that much eek

I'll let you know if I think of anything awesome though Gravestone.GIF

RE: Gabriells Vampire stuffz!

I love your Nagash idea. I don't have the Throne yet, so i'm wondering what size the base is. Just snowballing here, but i had considered the Necromancer LotR model when thinking about modelling Nagash. My concern is that anything much smaller than that model will look out of place atop the Spirits from the Throne. Doubley so if the whole thing sits on a Terrorgheist sized base. Pardon my nitpicking please. This is a conversion i've thought about off and on for some time. I'd love to see how your's ends up. Let us all in on the goods soon!

RE: Gabriells Vampire stuffz!

I think an ushapti would actually fit pretty wel. the throne is chariot sized, not Terrorgheist.

And I considered using a Necromancer, but he just feels to flimsy magic wise. Master of the Black arts and Lore master seems like a nessecity for a master wizard, and I think T5 isnt to high. I can easily imagine Nagash draining victims with magic aswell to represent the Hunger rule.

I like the chain idea! and also considered Sauron the Necromancer, however, since he is metal I fear he will be to top heavy sad

RE: Gabriells Vampire stuffz!

Finally, an idea how to use Nagash in this game. Haven't seen him since I saw the figure in an Independent Dealer in Hanko 10+ years ago.

But the idea of using the rules of a magevampire on a coven throne, converted on the spirits = AWESOME! Just love the idea. Do it by all means and give us pics.
