I dunno, TMC died so very fast. I think the whole idea is sort of flawed. Having a role-play set around an entire planet makes it very hard for characters to interact, and the myriad of diverse races in Warhammer 40,000 makes it hard for people to create compatible characters (why is the Tau Pathfinder allying with the Chaos Champion!?), because everyone wants to play their own character. What makes TVC so endearing is the relations of all of the characters and the inherent malleability of the term 'Vampire.'
I think if this were to work it would have to be something very specific; like players roleplaying an Imperial Guard Squad or a Fire Warrior team. Otherwise it would be weird.

I have thought about what made TVC fail, it was those points, and the fact that we where playing over an entire planet. That and we had no real over-arcing plot at all. It was just ''kill each other'' essentially.

If we are going to do this, we would have to mark down a list of factions avalible and then decide on a basic plot idea. Sounds good? I invite help here. I think we can do this if we make a solid plot and basic groundset first.

I am quite happy to be in charge if needed. However if someone else wants to take the lead then that's fine too. I do think having a lower powered RP might be a bit fun, as being all uber powerful vampires in the TVC can get a bit OP at times!

I'm interested. To be quite honest TVC is kinda losing it's luster, I can't seem to muster up a post! I'm working on that as we speak.

But, a Regular Joe RP sounds like a good plan to keep me interested. I'm in, though I don't know much about IG fluff other than most of em are conscripts of some sort.

Alright, here is what I am thinking of.

It takes place on a highly industrialized planet. Think Halo 2. There are three factions. One is Imperial, the other two are xenos. I want to keep it at three since anything more than that will make the RP too clunky and complex.

Most action will be centered around platoons and squads. It will take place at the start of an invasion of a planet. Most of the action will come from a grunt's perspective.

My theory so far, is to have essentially the Imperium and Tau locked in a ‘’cold war’’ type of deal. (Kind of like For the Emperor) and have a third faction invade the planet looking for something.

Thus a three way war breaks out.

In the midst of the war, our roleplay characters learn of the artifact (From somebody an Inquisitor?) and search for it. It can be daemonic weapon, a piece of a dark age of technology, etc, etc.

Eventually one faction gains the weapon and triumphs over the other factions.

For this one I am thinking Impeirum and Tau mainly, with orks or chaos as a possible third faction. Eldar might make an appearance.

For the Imperial faction, I will start off saying this will be making this mostly Guard, Space Marines and Sisters will appear, but in a much more limited way. I don't want marines to dominate this RP.

For the Guard team I suggest we be Stormtroopers, or Gaunt's ghost style commandos. Since the average squad or platoon won't last long. We can also have Tau characters. (DoN if you want to roleplay Snake this is your chance)

First of all, we don't know if orks are going to be in this. second of all, if you are playing the ork leader than chances are you won't get much roleplay time if this is going to be Squad-leval.

That seems like it would be really complicated to run. Having players on both sides I don't think would work very well, especially if they are working all RP to thwart each other (think an entire roleplay of Lesa v. Vekarin, ugh).
I like the idea of playing a single group of troops that are tightly knit, maybe just came together so we can get some good RPing going etc.
Perhaps an Inquisitor's retinue or a Guard squad joined together from the remnants of other platoons?

So we should all be one one side? Then I suggest Imperial, since we would be easily able to roleplay humans for most of us.

If we are going ot be on one side then I suggest some of us play as Guardsmen, some of us as Inquisitorial staff, and some as Deathwatch marines, all seeking to recover the plot device.

There is no need for that Ghouly, we are simply doing what most people agree upon. If people want to do that, then by George, we are doing that.

I want to reduce the clunkyness and complexity as much as we can. As well as give us soemthign to unify behind. Like the Vampires.
