How have you found warhammer gamers ?

Inspired by a thread on warseer with the same idea .
The only way I've discovered gamers is by letting out the occasional "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD" .
What weird ways have you uncovered a warhammer gamer in public ?

There is a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot .

If your planning spirit hosts we have a monthly challenge in February that I would love to see what you would do for them.

RE: How have you found warhammer gamers ?

A teenager who actually burst into tears when my IG mech force annihilated loads of his army on the first turn, then an assassin that I had taken proceeded to mop up the rest.

Other gamers speaking of another player (can't remember his name now, he used to be referred to by an initial like J something) like he was a god or something. He was a damn good player but the reverence they used to treat him with when he walked in the ship......confused Looking back now it was made all the sadder by the fact that he was a scruffy, unkept overweight person who obviously was not working due to the amount of time he spent in the club.

Disciple of Nagash, the perverted master,
The more you struggle, the more he goes faster.
Give him breast, and give him bust,
The more you give the more he thrusts.
And as you all shall soon see, there is nothing that he will not conceive
Whether dark or whether weird, its guaranteed to make you real
But in the end we all see, he is the forum master and perverted seed.

RE: How have you found warhammer gamers ?

I have the Helsinki Grand Tournament 2009 T-shirt and nobody understands what the T-shirt is all about.

- "Is it a kinda football or bowling contest?"
- "Nope. It's a miniature game tourney".
[Short silence]
- "What the heck is miniature game tourney!?"

And when I'm talking, many times my speak catches small mentions about Warhammer... For example, when something is lost I say it's gone in Warp. lol

RE: How have you found warhammer gamers ?

I do sometimes use warhammer cliches like "red ones go faster" but no-one ever seems to catch them. An old housemate once started going on about the old Warhammer game Dark Omen as well, and even bought it from an exchange store, but rsold it before I got a chance to play it, curse him Gravestone.GIF

I've run into groups of people talking about tactics or Warhammer background in public places. Those sillies, they blew their cover. cheesygrin

Before responding indignantly, please consider the above post to be laden with the following smiley: cheesygrin

RE: How have you found warhammer gamers ?

I've found a reasonable ammount standing in the gaming hall at GWHQ. But outside of there and being in college I keep things close to my chest (such is the lacking self-confidence of a teenager).

Get out of my sig *shakes fist*. A note for Darvy, I'm sure he'll find this, you've had Beethoven isn't epic in your sig for a few weeks now.

You is sooooo dead.

RE: How have you found warhammer gamers ?

I see loads of secret gamer's when I am at work. The type who hide their army book's or codex's in Playboy lol. I also use the code phrase's, like other's on here, and await their response. Although I once made a huge error in judgement. I saw a guy with the mark of Khorne tatooed on his forearm, started a conversation with him about how Warhammer was going to change and was he looking forward to it. He then uttered the immortal word's, "What are you talkin bout mate?" When I pointed out his tatoo he said "Oh, I saw some guy with it on his top so got it. Thought it looked cool."

RE: How have you found warhammer gamers ?

I ran around at school searching for the lunch ladies screaming "Blood for the Blood God!!!!" with a friend because the coffee was out. (We'd been awake for 3 days without sleep because of a deadline)
Luckily one of the lunch ladies had a husband who plays Warhammer, so she wasn't all that surprised and promptly gave us coffee.

Besides that there's always the option of starting about Dawn of War and seeing if they know about the miniature game.

Cheers, Wolfie

RE: How have you found warhammer gamers ?

I walk around with my Games Day 2008 T Shirt, was made back when I was a 40K Ork player.

The caption reads - "My Nobz arder den yourze!"

Typically I get a bunch of confused and rather worried looks however you can usually tell who really gets it and thats when you know they are a wargamer.

However being the chairman of a wargaming group I meet players as they walk into the building, I then meet others at local tournaments or gaming expos.

That caption could seriously be taking out of context just ask DoN himself I think he'll understand what I mean.

Now to keep my post on topic I really haven't found many people who will admit it the only people I have found I knew were discussing how to pronounce Tzeentch.
