When the VC takes care of all your spell casting needs, whats the point of a necro? Is it to have the necros keep your army alive while the VC uses other magic lores?

They are cheap, expendable casters. If you dont have room for extra vampires in your list, you often take a necro or two to just spam IoN/Van Hels.
Also, necromancers can choose their spells, enabling you to guarantee you get van hels (your vamps might not roll that spell)
Thirdly, they make decent scroll caddies. A necro with a feedback scroll can cause some real headaches for your opponent.

And of course necro can spamming necromantic spells like invocation or vanhell...

So i always have 1 or 2 necro in army...
And of course is a bit cheaper from regular wampire.

ah, so you guys use them to cast and the VC to just fight then? I only ask, because i had one game where i did take two Necros with a VC and the VC did all the spell casting (he also happend to land VDM, however given the opponent it wasnt helping much....) and was also doing the fighting...

I guess im just struggling to really justify them, given my VC can caste all the spells (given upgrades) as many times as a Necro and do it better with a higher level.
