Nicest thing your GW/Gamestore has done for you

I know a lot of people rage at GW for various reasons but lately having a store open in my area has really changed my mind, so far the manager has given me for free

-Metal terminater model
-Terminater spares, purity seals, powerfists ect
-2 Space marines
-5 Jump packs
-Pot of liche purple

All in all pretty great for free Vampire3 He also helped arrange a large fantasy game today for the end of the store campaign, which I can happily report I won!

So returning to the title whats the nicest thing your store has done for you?

RE: Nicest thing your GW/Gamestore has done for you

Members of my gaming club (not a store but relevant nonetheless) gave me one of their leaving players IG collection (he went to bootcamp) on my second day at the club.
I recieved to bolster my small but growing force:
A baneblade.
A hellhound missing its turret
2 Leman Russes
around 2 sets of last chancers
a few officers
Creed and Kell
10 metal karskin stormtroopers
4 mortars
3 heavy bolters
a box full of spare guard bits
a pack of unassembled forge world death corps troops
around maybe... 40? or more? plastic cadian guardsmen
2 or 3 plastic cadian guardsmen with some nice gs work on em.

Repainting/Repairing this force and combining it with my existing force has been a nice challenge. I was stunned by this, and ended up giving my dads necron battleforce (he doesnt use it anymore and never fully assembled all of it, as he now collects marines) to a member of the club, and plan to contribute our plastic aquila lander wreck from the battle of macragge box to them for their terrain collection once painted.

Wow - you two are bloody lucky! The only tings I have got is from winning competitions. Can't recall just been given something for the hell of it.

RE: Nicest thing your GW/Gamestore has done for you

OUr local store of which my wife works. Has given us
20 ork boyz.
A forgeworld Ork looted tank
various bits and bases.

But honestly the best thing he does is when people are wanting to sell there warhammer armies or other minitures he calls us and lets us know. It has neted us alot of older models, and some really good deals.

He also gave my wife a glass case to use there for her minitures she sales. But of course I did help them move for a week for free too that might of had something to do with it.

If your planning spirit hosts we have a monthly challenge in February that I would love to see what you would do for them.

My local store isn't officially a GW, but it's a pretty nice place regardless. It's called Legions, and you can become a member to recieve 10% off on all purchases. (And I, of course, am a member).

You wouldn't think it much, but 10% off of EVERYTHING is actually a good bit of money.

RE: Nicest thing your GW/Gamestore has done for you

Another player at my gaming shop gave me about a 1,500 point Tyranid army off the cuff. It consisted of about 50 Genestealers, a Broodlord, a Zoanthrope and a Carnifex - pretty sweet.

Other than that my gaming store has given me fun times and memories!
...
Barring prizes, of course.

RE: Nicest thing your GW/Gamestore has done for you

as a store owner of a little store on Chile, I gave to my customers 10% of discount on everything, regular painting contests free of charge but with nice prizes, brushes and/or paints free for purchases that are above 30 gbp, terrain free for larger purchases and regular sales with 20% off.
In top of that, I had got GW trophies for the tournaments the gaming associations runs.
And of course free models with painting class.

Sadly the store now closed due the inoperancy of the latin america distribuitor (no new restock since december, store closed on june) sad

Ouch, harsh. The best I've seen from a GW was also when it closed, the Richmond London store had so much stuff discounted. I got my Zombie Dragon for something like £5, plus a tonne of other stuff, more than I needed. It was just a shame that the Warriors of Chaos Troll army was only launched scant months later, they had enough Chaos Trolls in the sales that I could (and would!) have made an entire Troll army for about £30!

The store I used to play with in Indianapolis had a great GW rep. They had monthly tournaments for the players. Fun times won about 80 dollars worth of stuff.

The nicest thing a GW/Gamestore could do for me is be anywhere remotely near where I live . I think the closest one is in Galway which is about an hour away from me .

I was once given about 30 Cadians for my daemonhunters army, by a member of staff from GW. He left and it was a sad day for me. A really decent guy.

Whilst playing Necromunda our GW manager said he had some bit's for it. He brought out a box full of mini's. Not sure if we were supposed to but we helped ourselve's to a couple of extra gang's. I remember Ratskin's and Spyrer's.

RE: Nicest thing your GW/Gamestore has done for you

Aside from being offered a few free bits to mod some of my models, managers have offered to help paint my army and the tabletop I bought. That's quite generous but I enjoy having a fermented beverage when I get right into working on my GW stuff and I heard it's frowned upon to be at GW & pull out a barley pop.Cheers
I know someone that seems to get a nice collectible or model every few months for free from the local GW but he does spend a ton of cash there.

I sorted their Lord of the Rings bits box for an hour to help get ready for War of the Ring release day, and they paid me in... all the loose plastic lotr elves, which about doubled the size of my army.

Last Xmas at the boxing day giveaway event, I jumped in to help out writing out giffle tickets to make life easier on the guy behind the counter for the first hour rush. At the end of the day the manager gave me a complete Chapter Masters boxed set.

I'm handing out Ass kickings and Lollypops, and i'm all outta Lollypops.

Gave me Mat Ward's address so I can burn his ****ing house down next week

In a dark, dark town, in a dark, dark street. In the dark, dark street there was a dark, dark house. And in the dark, dark house there were dark, dark stairs. Down the dark, dark stairs there was a dark, dark cellar and in the dark, dark cellar three skeletons lived.

There was a Big skeleton.... There was a Little skeleton ....And there was a Dog skeleton *woof*

There would have been more but they nerfed Invocation of Nehek.
