O and G - Expanding my army

Hi everyone,

I've had my O&G army for about 2 years now, but having moved cities I have stopped playing for a long time. I haven't played 8th yet, but have been keeping a close eye on it. I'm making and order from the War store and am looking to expand my list.

I currently have:
60 Night Goblins
75 Orcs
10 Boar Boyz
1 Goblin Chariot
20 Black Orcs
6 Trolls
10 Spider Riders
10 Wolf Riders
3 Fanatics
1 Giant
1 Rock Lobba
2 Spear Chukka
1 Doom Diver
1 Orc on a Wyvern
Various Heroes.

I know there is a new book being released next year, and I don't plan to play much this year as I'm still extremely busy. But I am making an order from the War Store and thought it might be a good time to get some more minis.

What do people suggest? Wait for the new book? Wait until it becomes clearer in 8th what is effective? In 7th, I wanted to get a pair of boar chariots, more orcs (maybe 20-40 more), 2 more spear chukkas, 9 squig hoppers, and perhaps 3 more fanatics (maybe; not a huge fan of them). Doesn't look like Chariots are that great anymore, and squig hoppers are definitely out, but Warmachines are even better. Perhaps another rock lobba?

The other concern I have is that choices in 7th edition O&G book may not be effective in the new one, such as the switching from Skeletons to Ghouls in 7th ed vampires. So I want to stick to 'core' choices, things that will likely be there in 8th, and will likely remain effective. Orcs and goblins will always be there, same with Black Orcs. I'm guessing Lobbas, Chukkas, Trolls and Giants will still be there as well, at various pt alterations and effectiveness.

So what can anyone on here suggest?

There are some that only employ words for the purpose of disguising their thoughts.
Give me coffee or give me death. Preferably coffee. Starbucks coffee, the Bold line, Whole Milk and 3 Sweeteners. Now!

RE: O and G - Expanding my army

I think you've pin-pointed the highlights of the O&G army in the 8th edition on your own already, really. Infantry and war machines have been boosted a great deal, so investing in some more of those can only do you good I reckon. I'd buff those Black Orcs up to 30 models, for those times when you want your unit a bit larger and stronger.

I wouldn't necessarily discount Chariots and the like alltogether though - you'll need something to deal actual damage to your opponent once you've engaged them with your large and steadfast blocks of infantry, and Chariots can dish out a good amount of damage over a small frontage. And a Chariot doesn't even cost you 100 points. Lots of room for redundancy there. I wouldn't say no to a few of those myself. If only, if only.. cry
