TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
The Fool has lead the assembled vampires on what seemed like a merry dance through the dark tunnels. More than once it had been suggested that they were lost, but it seemed Beleeara had proved them wrong.
Even though still miles away from the centre of the wretched fortress, the pulse of power was palpable. There could only being one being who could generate that much necromantic energy, the Dark Lord himself.
As they came out of one of the dank tunnels they found themselves in what seemed to be a cave. At one end it was barred with an iron portcullis, no doubt placed there to hold back the tides of skaven that regularly assaulted the pit. Other than that the room was empty, but still a sense of foreboding settled on the council. To attempt to infiltrate Nagashizzar, with limited magic or items, was a feat that many would consider insane.
Could they manage it without being discovered or killed.........or worse?
Disciple of Nagash, the perverted master,
The more you struggle, the more he goes faster.
Give him breast, and give him bust,
The more you give the more he thrusts.
And as you all shall soon see, there is nothing that he will not conceive
Whether dark or whether weird, its guaranteed to make you real
But in the end we all see, he is the forum master and perverted seed.

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
Leaping into the air and clapping his heels, the fool danced around laughing merrily.
"The fun Beleeara, we're close to the fun!", the Fool said beaming.
"Good, good", Beleeara said nodding absent mindedly in the guise of a fanatical acolyte of Nagash.
He inspected the portcullis, before speaking over his shoulder.
"Todd, the explosives if you would be so kind."

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
Draithon shuffled closer to Beleera, his dark robes inscribed with many of Nagash's symbols flowing about him.
"Would you not try something a little more subtle?"
"For example, if we smashed those two stones,or perhaps the ones next to them" pointing at two bricks on the top corners of the gate,"then the chains would be exposed, and they would not be hard to cut..."
"An explosion would be a big giveaway, and the skaven would follow us through the tunnels. That would not be fun."
He gazed at Todd, as if challenging him.

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
"The gate is most likely guarded by some kind of magical ward, and although the most prudent course of action under normal circumstances may be to use magic, any magic use would alert Nagash. If we break the stones as you suggest we will have to do so quietly and cautiously to be as discrete as possible, overall slowing us down and perhaps to no avail if, as is most likely the case, there are guards of some sort beyond this portal. Speed is of the essence, and whatever defenders lie beyond will be momentarily stunned by the explosion. I should be able to conjure the illusion of a skaven raiding party of sorts without tapping significantly into the winds of magic."

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
Graveclaw growled and shoved his way to the front of the groupâ€ÂToo loud†he growled.
Bracing himself Graveclaw seized the iron bars in his massively clawed hands. Grunting he began to pull, causing the gate to groan under the unyielding pressure that the Vampire was putting it through. The muscles in the strogies broad back knotted and bulged. Suddenly the gate gave way and as the old Iron bars bent to the sides giving room for a human sized person to climb through.

Beleeara sighed before wrapping himself in an illusion of invisibility, preparing himself to unify with the minds of any sentries they came across and slipped through the gate.
OOC: I presume that we wait for an update from DoN before advancing any further.

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
As Graveclaw pulled the massive gate appart, a mechanical sound reverberated through the cavern. The gate began to open of its own accord. The assembled undead tensed for a fight as the gate continued to grind open.
A figure stood in the doorway. He was apparently a very short person, but any further details where obscured by the darkness of the passageway beyond. The figure stood stone still as it saw the assembled undead lords on the other side of the gate.
A bright flash of drawn steel shown out as the figure drew a sword.
"So I'm had, but I'll not go to Nagash alive! Take me if you dare guard dogs!"

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
Draithon looked at Graveclaw, and then at the iron bars on the floor. He shrugged
-"I guess that works to"
He turned to the short figure in the doorway, almost spitting his words.
-"And you might be? I have no wish to fight unnecessarily, but if you are are our enemy..."
He drew a sword almost the length of the intruder, with a thin void running along the center until it widened into a pair of fangs at the end.
-"Then you will not stand against us, my companions and I are some of the most skilled blademasters in the old world, and beyond. That said, if you are our ally, as your words indicate, then you shall live. I must ask my companions whether we shall let you join our group."
OOC:Make the changes, and all will be better, perhaps the reason your heading the wrong way is that you are lost in the tunnels?

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
"Well, weather I am an ally or an enemy depends on what YOU are doing down here. I am guessing your no pets of Nagash or I would probably be dead by now."
The figure sheathed its sword and stepped forword out of the darkness. He was a very pale, very thin lad of about 14 or 15, but somewhat tall for that age with brown eyes and brown hair at shoulder length. He was also, clearly a vampire.
"My name is Count Erick Von Strauss II"
he bowed slightly.
"And you have caught me in the unfortunate act of stealing, which is something I would never do under normal circumstance, but the items in question originally belonged to me and are very dear. Unfortunately, the Skaven tunnels are quite extensive. I would not suggest going the way I came.
Now, what in the name of Sigmar are you doing down here?"

Also sheathing his sword, Draithon turned to Erik.
"In basic terms, our mission is to rescue a mutual friend, and cause some... structural damage.I shall reveal no more unless my fellow creatures of the night agree."

Simon moved forward to look closer at Erik. "That name seems familiar" he said "Theres a von Strauss family ruling a tiny kingdom in the Border Princes. A small contemptable place called Wallachia I believe. I hope you're not connected to them because by now Wallachia will have been conquered by my forces."

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
As the Council interrogated the unknown vampire they passed through the open gate into the tunnel beyond. There was no sense of alarm, no sound of troops so it seemed their entry had gone unnoticed.
The passageway stretched to the left and right until it was lost in the inky darkness. Both ways seemed to stay level, but from one direction a foul wind blew, smelling strongly of decay and rotting flesh. Which way would the Council go?
OOC: When I wrote the first post, I did think Graveclaw would force it open.

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
The Fool was singing to himself softly, obviously enjoying himself. He laughed when Geralt prodded him
"Beleeara told me not talk to strangers", he said before skipping in the direction of the foul wind humming to himself.
"Beleeara we have to hurry or we'll miss the fun!" , the Fool said loudly in a wheedling tone.
Sighing to himself walked after the Fool.

Von Strauss seemed unconcerned.
"I think you may find that...how did you put it so delicately? Small contemptable place? Far harder to control than it may appear."
He turned his back on the Von Carstein, a palpable dislike of the man emanating from him.
He watched as the Fool went into the foul smelling tunnel.
"Hehe, if in doubt, always fallow your nose..."

RE: TVC - Chapter 28 - Sneaking Mission
V'azrin muttered under his breath in an ancient language as he followed the other vampires.
The necrarch followed slowly spitting angrily as he did so.
For a moment he stopped and started after the fool and shook his head slightly before following after him.
Three great men a king, a priest and a rich man stand in a room, all that's between them is a common sellsword. Each great man bids the sellsword to kill the other two. Who lives? Who dies? Power resides where men believe it resides, its a trick...a shadow on the wall. And a very small man can cast a very large shadow.

"Wonderful, now let us be off. Watch your backs, I have no intention of being cornered in these morbid tunnels. And I agree with the fool, Nagash enjoys killing slaves wantonly, smells just like him."
Draithon spun on his heel and set off in the direction of the corpses, slowing his pace so that the others could keep up.

Momus shrugged and followed Draithorn into the darkness, muttering under his breath "I never did like the smell of rot".
