The CF's Terrorgheist!

So, they had a painting contest at my FLGS, and I had just gotten my hands on the Terrorgheist kit.
The rest is history.
Also, why is the no "Show us your Terrorgheists / Zombie Dragons" thread? There should be ^^
Anyways:

RE: The CF's Terrorgheist!

Love the model but I feel the blood is to over bearing and vivid for its state of decomposition.
It boasts to much of stark a contrast between some of the bones like in the wings and parts of the torso against those of thread etc, were as at this stage of rotting most the blood would of already drained aware and there would in fact be fairly little, though in the mouth itself I can condone it.
maybe in other areas if it was not to such an excess and darken so as to appear as dried blood.

RE: The CF's Terrorgheist!

A dilemma. I personally love the blood and the contrast it gives with the black-white theme, however, it is indeed unrealistic. A matter of personal taste I believe, but I really like it as it is.

I love the setting, snow and all! Where did you get those trees? Agreed with the blood, although it's still a really nice job. I too used blood on my base and found it to be overpowering so I washed it over to reduce the contrast and received high praise smile

RE: The CF's Terrorgheist!

I like the scheme, personally. Black, white, and red are the most striking color combo you can do, and the white bones and the snowy base (well done job with the base, by the way!) pop very cool with the dark body/wings, and the blood brings it all home. Nice looking beastie.

Wow, thanks all!
As for the trees, what do you mean "where did you get them?", Eggspr? They're standard issue GW (Citadel) trees from the Citadel wood kit ^^
And Kassill, you're not the only one wink That's too what I see.

Yeah I assumed that too! All the blood is a victim not his own.

Overall, awesome looking piece! I think the blood fits it very well, the snow provides a fantastic contrast, very cool model overall.

I like your model. I think the setting with the snow and trees gives it a very life-like feel. The blood all over it is very strong but it does give the idea that it is merely splattered with the blood of it's victims. Very good.Ghost

Thats something I wanted to ask but I always forget, the bone on your model, is it straight skull white?

I agree as well. The blood is one of the coolest parts on the model, IMHO.

Perhaps if there were some bloody victims hanging from the trees, or on the snowy ground, surrounded in a pool of hot, bubbling, glistening lifeblood....

Sorry got carried away. But you know what I mean, I hope. Lovely model! Thumbs Up

Duke Danse: The entire model is primed black. Bones are followed up by Bleached Bone, then Skull White. Simple as that ^^

RE: The CF's Terrorgheist!

I love the subtle coloring on the flesh of the wings. The strong contrast between the stark white bones and the blood is simply amazing! I too see it as he literally bathed in the blood of his victims. And the twisted trees and snow is just beautiful with the dragon.

I'd score it 10/10!

Wow that's horrific (in a good way)! I think your all-or-nothing approach to the blood has paid off nicely here; my own terrorgheist is looking tame in comparison.

Ouch! I wouldn't want to meet that on a dark night!
To be honest I wouldn't want to meet that at all...

If you don't mind me asking how did you do the blood?

All in all it looks veeery nice and contrasts perfectly with the snowy base.

RE: The CF's Terrorgheist!

Wow, it seems that everytime I pass by here, I got some new comments of praise. Thanks everyone! This really gets my spirits up to try and improve my skills even more, especially now that I haven't had any models to paint lately.
@Monkey's_Uncle: For blood, I got my little magical pot of paint: Tamiya Clear Red. It's slightly transparent, but still red, and coagulates (like real blood). By first splattering the colour at the areas I get a nice blood effect, then for a second layer I mix it with Badab Black to get a darker red, splattering on the areas of the other blood.
