Where do you paint?

I was painting the basecoat on my carnosaur today, and I started to wonder were everyone else paints their minis?

I personally paint them in my room with music playing. I have tried painting at a gw before, but I couldn't get anything done with someone asking me what I was working on every two seconds, or worse, bumping into my arm and causing me to make a mistake Slap face

What's odd, is that my friend is the exact opposite. He enjoys painting at gw, but doesn't like painting at his house.

RE: Where do you paint?

I paint in a horrific interface between this universe and the warp. It is impossible to navigate without a rare gene and few return from my room alive (mostly they trip on the mess and disappear under the piles of stuff and clothing)

RE: Where do you paint?

My paints and supplies are all in a relatively mobile container (because I always have to ferry them off to college with me). So, as a result, I tend to paint wherever I have room to put down some old newspapers. Typically I prefer a quiet environment though. It's harder to keep a steady hand with tons of background noise.

RE: Where do you paint?

All my GW needs are located safely in my room!
I'll usually throw on some music, or lately, one of the black library audio dramas to listen to while I work.

My only problems come from my cuddly little kittens, Stitch & Loki breaking down the door! (Stitch will want a continuous belly rub while presenting me with her pair of socks, while Loki will want to play fetch with her little soccerball while pouncing on me!)
I probably shouldn't have given them those names come to think of it...

Cheers!

When in deadly danger,
when beset by doubt,
run in little circles,
wave your hands and shout!

RE: Where do you paint?

I try and paint in my room but my 3000 unfinished models and various projects take up far to much space and I never have peace and quiet for long even if I do have awesome music to paint to.

My Local GW does not let you game very much so I find when you can only paint its easier to get stuff done, even if you get knocked by others now and then.

RE: Where do you paint?

That's one setback of painting at my house, to many distractions. Whether they be another model that I want to paint, TV, family, or my bed calling me to sleep.

RE: Where do you paint?

I have set up a painting table in our computer room at home but all the models take up so much space so it's now more of a wargaming room than a computer room.

RE: Where do you paint?

On the rare occasions I paint, I paint in my dad's study, putting paper's down and watching stuff online on the home PC. I can't concentrate on things without background noise, it's like with revision for me.

Have a small area on my computer desk.

I like to paint while watching/listening to movies on the PC.

RE: Where do you paint?

I usually paint in my room while listening to loud Industrial music,or while talking to a friend who's painting as well.I can't work to well in the presence of a TV screen...I keep glancing up,only to be transfixed by the HYPNO-TOAD!!eek

RE: Where do you paint?

I paint on the dining table with an A3 cutting matt under where I'm working. I've got the mega paint set so I put one of the foam inserts on either side of the board. a couple of daylight lamps, various tools and the airbrush. It turns into a little nest. I sometimes put some music on, I never bother with the TV.

RE: Where do you paint?

I usually just paint on whatever free surface I have in my room, but I've been staying with some family who live right down the street from a big GW store. So I go down there to paint now smile

RE: Where do you paint?

I usually paint in my roon with either music or a dvd playing in the background. If not, I'll be doing it on my gaming table in the next room or at my friend's house which is somewhat of a man cave.

RE: Where do you paint?

I've got the Mega Paint Set that GW sold, so all the paints that aren't on my painting station stay in that one neatly organized. As for all the models, they're scattered around the apartment. Only usually hidden away when we've got guests coming over or the gf's decided that I need to clean them up for one reason or another tongue

Most of my painting is done at home. Occasionally go to a mate's place to paint and game, but those tend to be more gaming and "Oooh, look at all these new units I've managed to paint"-convos than painting grin

RE: Where do you paint?

I don't paint as much as I used to (though I intend to get back into it pretty soon, after I'm mysteriously given the EXACT models that I wanted for Christmas. Funny how these things happen...), but when I do I pain in my room, at my desk, on the lid of my closed laptop, whilst listening to Radio 4. I'm middle aged WAY ahead of my time.

Pro tip for you: Don't paint on top of the lid of your laptop if you like it to look shiny, pretty and clean.
