Your Wight King.

I have always been a fan of Sword of Kings with Nightshroud.

But how is Tricksters Shard, Dragon Helm and Sword of Kings on a steed with Barding compared to the first?

With Nightshroud you are sure to be able to get 3 attacks before your challenger does.

With the other combo you are required to survive 4-5 attacks coming your way before you are to hit back, but there is a huge chance for your enemy character to fail hes wardsave if you are able to get a killing blow.

I dunno, anyone can think of a scenarios where Nightshroud really is the item to go for?

My idea would be to have another character next to the one in challenge with trickster shard. Two Wight kings: One with Nightshroud and Sword of Kings, and the other with Trickester shard next to the one in challenge.
(Just dont know how I will afford it in my army atm, or how models in challenge move to accept them. I think there is a chance your enemy model could move away from your other wight with Trickster's Shard.

What do you think? Is this a tactic that would work every time, or only if your enemy does a mistake?

(I need a rule update about how challenges works)

The rules does say that the models are moved into base contact with each other - room permitting I'd say that your opponent would indeed be free to move outside the reach of your second Wight King, and thus avoid the effects of his Pendant. I can't say if this has been FAQd somewhere though...

Anyway, the Pendant and the Nightshroud do serve two different roles for together with the Sword of Kings - the first enhances the potential effect of your Killing Blows while the other all but guarantees that you'll actually get the chance to land one (or two, heheh). I'd prefer the Nightshroud for most situations though, since it will give you the opportunity of stopping Assassins and the like right in their tracks.

A setup I like for my own Wight King involves The Flayed Hauberk and the Dawnstone paired with a Great Weapon. He usually carries the Battle Standard as well. He works well as a line-holder in a unit of Skeletons, adding precious punching power while being quite hard to shift. smile

RE: Your Wight King.

I use my wight king as my lord's personal body guard. I actually have the nightshroud on the lord, that way if anybody wants to attack him regardless of challenges they have to survive both the lord and the wight king's attacks (and sometimes a blood knight)

Both are in a unit of 5 blood knights with flag of blood keep.

Vampire Lord
Ogre Blade, Nightshroud, Crown of the Damned
Red Fury, Infinite Hatred, Dreadknight
-400-
Wight King (Blood Knights)
Sword of Kings, Dragon Helm, Obsidian Trinket, Barded Skeletal Steed

RE: Your Wight King.

I run a pair of Wight Kings,

1st one is the BSB/ unit support with BSB, Drakenhoff, Great weapon and sits in a unit of GW Graveguard.

The other I'm looking at Barded steed, Sword of Kings, Dragonhelm, Other Tricksters Shard as an anti-character missile, in a 5 man Black Knight unit (probably ranked 3x2)
