custom characters

me and my mates are creating custom character with fair points limits and using them in a campaign and I was wondering if there are any useful perks that would help in a vampire counts army most of the chars that we create are along the line of 400-450 points (yeah pricey) and i have thought of a few

Aleksia the master necromancer 425

M__WS__BS__S__T__I__A__W__LD
5___3___0___2__5__5__2__4___10

vampire, undead
LEVEL 4

(this spell replaces invocation of nhek) incantation of nhek 7+
causes 2d6 wounds to regenerated and 3d6 if cast on zombies

staff of nhek +2 to casting when used on spells that raise the dead e.g. summon undead horde

robe of undeath. light armour. the wearer is immune to wounds caused by combat resolution -2 to hit via shooting

there is another but i do not have it on me right now Thumbs Down so i will post tomorrow or later.

wheres the mayonnaise?!?!

...where indeed...

RE: custom characters

Vladimir Drakenhoff

M__WS__BS__S__T___A___I____W__LD
6___7___0__5___5__4(5)__7____4___10

armour of Drakenhoff. heavy armour. regen 3+

crown of Drakenhoff . the unit he is in may use his WS even in combat

halberd of mindless fury. +1 attack. halberd

cloak of shifting darkness. -1 to hit. if he gets higher than his opponents I on 2d6 he may leave combat (place the model 1" form the back of his unit. may not use if he is in a challenge)

vengeful. for every wound hit on Vladimir he gains +1 attack to a max of 5. if he gains more than 4 attacks he is at -1 to hit for that turn

is he dead? if Vladimir is killed but his unit is still alive he may be raised to life in that next magic phase but it must be targeted on him and I takes an entire spell to rise him (is if you were casting on an independent vampire) if he is raised he gains infinite hatred against the model that slew him if it was a unit he does not gain this benefit (his attacker lost in the crowd)

bones of steel. killing blow causes 2 wounds instead of instant death (saves may not be taken against these wounds)

i found him... and i see he may be a bit under priced but with the right unit you can kill him quite quickly if you were to have a flaming attack or killing blow.

wheres the mayonnaise?!?!

...where indeed...

RE: custom characters

I did the same for my campaign, but the only thing that you need to be wary of is the lack of standardization and balance of custom characters. My system was to use the base stat-line of a Hero/Lord in the army, deck them out with magic items in accordance to the BRB and the Army Book, (with renames, of course) and then whatever custom rules that you want to create will have their point values be mutually decided by all players of the campaign. Of course, this is meant for a more streamlined, balance system of play, as opposed to a more free-flow sort of creation.

If they give you lined paper, write the other way.

RE: custom characters

but if we build them with the items out of the BRB and VC rulebook it ill take a fair chunk of the creativity out of it? because you can build a char like that at any time but by building this you are being original and it made quite a bit fairer in the fact that me and my mates work out he point together to stop them making a char that has a 1+ AS and a 2+ ward with killing blow and fly with an immunity to magic for 105p. (this did not really happen but you get my point)

wheres the mayonnaise?!?!

RE: custom characters

For the Robe of Undeath, why not just say the bearer is no longer subject to the Unstable rule? Leaves less room for misunderstandings. But nice to see more VC creativity!

And I believe this belongs in the Necrarch's Workshop, as it involves custom rule-brewing. I'll just go check.

EDIT: Yes, I was correct.

Thread moved to Necrarch's Workshop.
