okay a few years ago when i first started playing i decided to try playing with an ethereal. so on turn one i he was next to my unit of fire warriors an my friend went first with his chaos. he shot at my etherial (who was not in a unit, wow that was a bad idea(oh and please remember that i was a nub at this time )) and you can guess what happened. he died, and i started to roll my Ld first my fire warriors, they failed instantly ran off the bored. then my next unit of FW, they ran off the table. then my battle suits. they ran of the table. then my fire warriors the passed so i was left with one unit of 12 fire warriors vs his entire army. i learnt the hard way have them in units

Hello I'm new to the forum,been playing with Vampire Counts for a year and a half it is my first and favorite army in Warhammer.I would like greet everyone on this forum(pardon my spelling for English is not my native language)
Twas a dreadfull defeat as well as several others that i have suffered witch are the very reason of joining your community.
2500pts 8th edition
Anyway my opponent was newbie at the time who was not very familiar with his Wood Elf army or the basic rules.A friend(our clubmaster) made a new List me to try out.This was the time when 8th edition first came out and we would soon lern how different it really is.
I had a little bit grave guard,black knights...
but most importantly i had a large ("Death Star" i think is what it called,correct me if I'm wrong) skeleton unit 41 skelies armed with spears full command acompanied by my Vamp lord(general),Wight King BSB(Drakenhof banner) and a necromancer with a dispel scroll.
Wood elf gets to go first and in the magic phase decides to cast the spell "Dwellers below"(21+,24",DirectDamage) on my big skely unit...throws six dice at it and what ya know gets IF!Now every model in my unit has to take a strength test...i decide to roll for my general first...I roll a 6(dead)... next is my BSB for him i get a 5(dead)...and the necromancer fails his test no problem having a strength score of 3(dead)...18 of my skelies fail as well..my army starts to crumble and its still turn one!!
So let's summarize the lvl4 Spellweaver who costs a little over 250pts has killed
my General,BsB,necro and 18 skeletons witch are:450+225+95+18*9= 932 pts in ONE TURN!(1132 if you add the 200 vp)in
Nothing bad happened to the Spellweaver on his miscast and my army crumbled and was swiftly destroyed by TURN 4.
Life magic has won the day and it was almost unimportant what kinda units/troops my opponent had because of that one spell "Dwellers below" that killed my strongest and vital things(super powerful vamp caster lord,Drakenhof bsb..)
or 40% of my army if you like.Since then all my list were made with that spell in mind..but that's for tactics discusion i presume.

yeah dwellers is a bitch (pardon my lang) the amount of times i have lost a unit to that spell is crazy. and that was my 1st army (Lizardmen) thank god i play mainly people that don't (or cant) take it.
but i cant remember an you use DS against IF?

Sadly almost all the armies that i face take life magic(even demons!!),so i get nuked a lot.You cant use a dispel scroll to dispel Irresistible Force.
