Hello fellow Undeads!
I've been in the hobby for several years and the army I started with during 6th edition was VC. After some time my attention shifted to Empire and High elves so the vampires have been stuffed in a box for what seems like an eternity. With the return of "The Greatest of all" I've decided that it's now or never if I ever want to go back to my Undead origin. I've therefore decided to start a plogg with the purpose of bringing my VC up to date and bringing in the TK element that Undead Legion can provide. I may also post some stuff on warseer but since this is the place for the True Masters of Death I naturally turned to this forum first and foremost ;).

My VC army is approximately 5000 pts excluding characters which I know, having gazed around this forum, is not near big enough to be sufficient! I'm the kind of hobbyist who strives to have as much variation in my collection as possible, preferably at least one of each unit available from the book.

For those of you who want to help me, but don't want to go through the short novel this turned out to be, I've included a short list of what I need advice on converting at the end of the post. :)

On the Vampire Counts:
As of now there are some things that are missing from my VC collection:

Coven Throne

Corpse cart

Fell bats

Bat swarm

Vargheists

Mortis Engine

These units are pretty straight forward and I may try making the Coven/Engine from the same box as I've seen others done on this forum. I think the GW Bat Swarm unit is horrible but I've found a cheap alternate manufacturer that can provide for these instead. Same thoughts goes for the Fell Bat unit (terrible GW, shame on you) so these will be Gargoyles made from some unused Bloodletters. I reckon I'll want 6-8 of these with wings and some other additions like tails. I'm also thinking of using the pillars from the Arcane Sanctuary box as unit fillers in other units. The Gargoyles can then be placed on top of the pillars when they're not in use and then be removed when summoned. What do you guys think?

The Vargheists are another unit that almost make me rile from just looking at them. Instead I'm going to try and make "general aristocratic vampires from their Counts court" either mounted or simply using different methods of flying. Any ideas on this? Am I taking this to far?

Tomb Kings in Undead Legion:
I don't own a single TK unit and as long as Ebay don't throw a cheap collection in my face within a couple of weeks then I'll probably never come to own one either. This however is a great opportunity to do some converting, plenty of which I've seen on this forum and perfect for inspiration! :)
Here I'm going to take a step back from my usual “must have every single unit and alternative in the book” madness and instead go with those that seems most fun/interesting. Therefore I've broken down the TK list into compartments of interest.

On the Tomb King characters:
The TK characters must be included in my future army since they're so different from VC. The way I see it, the TK characters are more about supporting-combos with units while the VC are more offensive and individual killing machines. Adding these will therefor greatly contribute to a diversity in how I play my Undead Legions from game to game. So I'm making a VC version of:

Tomb King/Prince

Tomb Herald

Necrotect

These characters will be converted or scratch built models representing the role and tactics from the TK book but having the look and feel of a VC army. It's also important to me that they don't just be simple versions of their VC counterparts. The Weight King already fill one role with my undead and I would therefor prefer to do something different than just "it's a weight king but with tomb king rules". VC and TK characters also have different magic items so it's more fun to difference them from each other and makes it easier for my opponent to keep track of the different characters. :)

A few days ago when I sat in the library (why is it that when I should really really be studying, I end up thinking about Warhammer instead?) I got the idea of a Ghoul character spinning.
The "Ghoul race" depicted in the VC book emphases Toughness, low or no armor but with deadly effects to their attacks such as poison. Why shouldn't a special kind of Ghoul, or one of the Strigany, be able to have evolved into just a little more of a civilized fellow? It would still be a cannibal and lowest in rank compared to vampires. This kind of "Ghoul Captain" could be wearing it's lords livery, bearing adorned armor and carry deadly magical weapons. I can imagine such a creature, being nearly civilized in manner, to dine with their Vampire general as lesser officers and eating the leftovers from a blood sucked victim while receiving orders about the next attack. They'd be lowest in command but still fiercely loyal and protective of their master. The thought got my head spinning with ideas for fluff, conversions and magic item combos.

One could use the body of a bloodletter, slightly bigger but still similar to my current Ghouls, and change the head and weapon (maybe put on some armor and clothing) to represent the role of a Tomb King or Tomb Prince.
A regular Ghoul model could act as a bit smaller, but still not so degenerated Ghoul, sergeant or standard bearer with the rules for Tomb Herald and in itself second in command to it's Ghoul Captain. I could give the Crypt Ghoul a similar treatment like the bloodletter but with a more raised, defensive posture, brandishing a standard and sticking it's palm forward in a “Halt who goes there” fashion.
The reason I think this could work fluff wise is that while “Strigoi Ghoul King Vampires” receive resentment by being degenerates and Crypt Horrors being mutated monsters from blood (only considered by some Vampires) these Ghouls are an evolutionary step on their own. Still the lowest in the Vampires eye but very useful to get shit done and with no repulsive connection to the sacred blood these “Ghoul Captains” instead become very useful underlings.
What do you guys think of this? Is it complete nonsense or worth a try? It would only require a sacrifice of some bitz and a couple of Crypt Ghouls/Bloodletter on my part so there's not that big of an investment in case of failure.

The Necrotect is a huge enigma to me. Undead warrior priest? Dead Skaven engineer? I seem to have no idea how to pull it off.

On the TK constructs:
In the book Warhammer End Times: Nagash, Arkhan the black uses necromancy to meld and fuse body parts with other materials to build catapults, thus creating an undead construct on the spot. In The Ends Times novel: “The Curse of Khaine” there is also mention of reanimated trolls and ogre bodies, with differently shaped heads depicting Nehekharan gods, instead of more conventional Ushabtis. This gave me the inspiration for some ideas on undead constructs from the TK book but only built using different body parts and materials into a new massive undead macabre being. This will be a bit tricky to pull of but could turn out great. I think that if you take, for example a knight with horse, you could shift the body parts around into a two legged freak of existence that would have seemingly been created from the dead on the battlefield. It will require a lot of patience and green stuff but I think it can be pulled of.

I've been playing the Dark Souls games lately and there is lots of inspiration for giant evil moving armors and such. If I can pull this of then a suitable unit of Ushabtis and Ushabti Bowmen would look cool. I've also seen several people converting beautiful things on this forum so I'll be stealing some of your ideas lying around, the Undead mammoth for example. ;)

The Hierotitan will be a "Nagash statue" that sends out energies for my necromancers to wield. I also find the idea of using Nagash to summon a “smaller version” of himself", powering up, to good to pass up on! The Casket of Souls will be some sort of "Altar of Nagash" with an almost identical statue like that of the Hierotitan behind the “priest”. For the statues themselves I'm going to use the old Nagash miniature painted more like a statue and I'd really like your opinion on how this could be done.
A Necrolith colossus will be made from an old Zombie dragon that lost it's wings ages ago. It shouldn't be hard to attach deadly things, like giant chain-balls, instead of arms and a blade/ax on the tip of the tail (these representing the “Unstoppable Assault” special rule from the TK book as it smashes into a unit whirling the weapons around). This leaves future ideas open for Necropolis Knights, the Tomb Scorpion, Catapults and Sepulchral stalkers.

Tomorrow I'll be going through the old bitzbox and see if I can find some inspiration for more kitbashed things. I'm fairly certain that I could make a unit of chariots just by sticking things together into roughly the same shape. I'll also try to get started on some of the things I've mentioned above but I would really like some advice from anyone willing to offer before I get started on this whole Tomb-King-conversion project.

Things I need help with:

  • Ideas for using Bloodletters as Gargoyles on pillars as both unit fillers and a unit.

  • Making a Coven Throne and Mortis Engine out of the same box.

  • Converting aristocratic vampires to use as Vargheists.

  • Is the idea of making Ghoul Captains to use as Tomb King/Prince bad or worth a try?

  • Anyone had any similar ideas for making Ushabtis out of other things than regular TK ones?

  • How to make the old Nagash model looking like a “living statue”?

Also when I start this plogg for real should I just continue using this thread or start a new one in "The Dead Shall Walk"?

May Nagash bring us eternal peace and order!

Hello there

You are certainly a dedicated hobbyist! :-)

I'm not much of a converter but I'll share what ideas I have.

You could use Dark Eldar wings from the 40k range on the bloodletters to make gargoyles.
-you could paint the old nagash with grey tones and add some dark "cracks" to the surface to make him appear to be a statue. Adding some flock "moss" would be a good idea.
-I've seen ogres with TK bits used for Crypt Horrors but it's possible to go the ushabti route. Use the half circle decorations that spear on the front of TK chariots and maybe putty some pharoah helms.
-ghoul captains are a great idea, you should definitely go for it.
-on the other two subjects, I can't help much there. It will be really tough trying to make human sized vampires into believable vargheists unless you use something like Pegasus knights as a base.

I also use riders on winged steeds as vargs. The ladies from the Coven Throne on Black Knight steeds with Varg wings, specifically.

Some points I can comment on:

I can't see a way to get a coven throne and mortis engine out of the same box. The Spirits and 'chasis' are common to both builds. What you do get would be the three vampires and the scrying pool. A possibility might be to use some other large horse-drawn model to mount the vampires on (such as a war altar), but if you're buying another big kit to do that, you might as well get another coven throne kit.

I like the bloodletter/gargoyle idea. The type of wings you want narrows down the options a bit - you might be able to find on bits sites dark elder wings (as Seneschal mentioned above), blood angel honour guard wings (more feathery) or tyranid gargoyle wings (more monstrous).

The Ghoul Captain idea works for me, with the idea that he imposes his will instinctively on the unit he joins explaining the shared WS.

For ushabti I'm afraid I haven't found anything suitable yet - I'm looking out for something about the size (height) of an ogre, but which looks and can be painted up as a gothic-esque statue. The ogre idea would work but for the fact that I want my undead legion to look mainly vampire-counts-ish, and I can't imagine there being many ogre statues knocking around in Sylvania/the Empire.

You could model the old Nagash quite easily as a statue, perhaps add a significant plinth for height. In fact I'm hoping to do the same. The 'story' behind it would be that it was a shrine built (to himself, the big-headed so-and-so) within the Black Pyramid, and like the Pyramid itself, the statue was ensorcelled when it was created.

I agree with Seneschal that making human-sized models look like vargheists is going to be impossible. The only way might be to add a few to each base, or have each individual clambering over some sizeable terrain piece (preferably in an animalistic, unnatural fashion - think the scene from the exorcist where she climbs the wall, or in the first Underworld film where the female vampire discovers the man has been bitten and leaps to the ceiling). In fact, if the right facial expressions could be found I think that might fit the background of a vargheist very well... I take back what I said about it being impossible - I may have just talked myself into it...

All the best

Ok there is alot of ground here to convert but it all comes down to personal tastes.
I know you have already deal with the bat swarms but it is worth mentioning there is a Goblin Model in LOTR range which comes with a large flock of these which is easily split across two bases.
Best bits for sceneary I would say is the Garden of morr as you can use it all across your entire force, the crypts are great unit fillers in hordes, the walls work on the edges of trays on on bases for bats and wolves, there is not bit of this kit that does not have a use.
For the Fell Bats I personally use Ghouls with Nid wings, yes Dark Eldar wings are nicer but with them you get 2 sorts and only 5 in a box so cost allot more.
Besides the quality of those wings I feel are wasted onj anything less than a character.

For Varghiests I think you could be right on the money.
Either use Vampire characters in Great Fancy Sweeping poses as a unit of horror, wings sprouting from their backs, tearing the throats out of witch hunters etc, make a diorama of sorts on the bae and it will become legendary.
Other option is you could use a monsterous cav like Demi Gryph, squash it onto the base and mount a undead knight on it, in my opinion though this works better on varghulfs.

I hate most the old TK range, they make me cry at night.
So this is the perfect chance to make them awesome.
Bowmen are easily converted from out own skeletons, just trim off the spears, little pin and add the dow end from the empire hunters kit, will take time but it looks so damn good.
For Kings and princes Vampires till work, you just need to decorate them differently, for instance, Vampires are mostly gothic but most the oldest being from that ancient land of the dead still dress in the same way, yes there are some exceptions like Vashanesh (Vlad) but most do so add an egyptian feel to their armour and colours, use more gold etc.
Heralds fall under the same thing really unless you want to Fancy up a Wight King, personally though, take the wight King, if its for anything other than making the model itself he is all round better.
If you really did want the conversion hoever you could make arkan on foot and remodel him to look like a hero of old decked out for battle, would look cool as hell.
Necrotects tend to be self explainitory, we have necrarchs, with all the extra scrolls and books he would likely just come off as a vampire who has found
Ghouls tend to worship Strigoi as Gods rather than as kings and lords but it can still work.
Allot of Strigoi are still smart and in control as well but they just tend to be very vengeful and sour because their existance has been warped into what it now is with their bodies which means they can never truly reenter civilisation.
When looking at seige weapons and constructs there is allot to be said for the wood from Goblin Town, Scrap Launcher Parts, Skaven kits as they are so cobbled together you can easily fit them together and bind it into a new machine with green stuffed musscle holding to together and operating it as if filled with a terrible unlife all of its own.
Ushabitis is a bit harder, there however is that golden option of either A) cobbled together necromantic constructs or B) Statues come to life much in the same way as the former but would be Statues of Morr so in essence huge criumbling reaper statues, moss clinging to thaie stone work...
I have seen many a beautiful Hierotitan made from Warshinx spare bits so to gothic this up you won't really get better options than nagash but he will have to be cut appart resoed and allot of GS done to him.

Also back tracking to Ghoul Captains.
I do tend to convert all my Ghasts to be armed with weapons, be bulkier, even full skeletons from the waist up like ghoul cavelry.
Could use the same concept but have a armoured skeleton on his back wearing a crown, a crippled WK whispering instructions into the ear of the ghoul, kinda a rip off of the chaos model doing them same but who said we could not loot ideas? ;)
Turning Nagash into a statue will require a big rebuild, 90% though will be removing extra flowing robs, converting key parts like the head and pinning his so he can walk on foot.
Also a big part of this will be his choice of weapon so to really make him different look at things like a big evil looking mace etc.
When you start the plog mate its best to put it in the right board so you get the right kind of feedback and so folks can find it so "The Dead Shall Walk" is the best board for it.

Hello and thank you all for much needed input!

Seneschal:
Well when I get my mind on a new project I unfortunately aim to high but hell the more you spend your heart in the hobby the more you get for your money right? ;)
Thanks for the advice! Especially your thoughts on the Nagash statue. A dark/gray tone with cracks and maybe moss will be perfect! I'll probably paint the eyes in a glowing green tone to so it'll look "alive".

Adam Barrow:
I checked out your Ladies and they look spectacular! Count your idea stolen ;).

Martin15:
Thanks for the input! I checked out all the wings you mentioned and I'll go with the more bat-like versions. Probably the cheapest ;).
Good thing you liked the Ghoul Captain idea, I'll definitively give it a try.

Duke Dance Macabre:
Thank you for the thorough answer! I'll check out the LOTR mini for sure and consider the Garden of Morr bring bought and ready for assemble ;).
As it happens, I have an entire unit of 40 empire Swordsmen converted from the archer-box. Plenty of bows to use! Good ideas for war-machines to, I'll keep a lookout on bitzareas for Skaven and scraplauncherbitz.
For the Ushabtis I drew up some pictures this morning so I'll try and make a construct out of body parts and the like.
It's the old Nagash model that I'm going to convert so we'll see how it turns out but if it doesn't work then I'll check out converting a Necrosphinx!

Again thank you all for the much appreciated advice and ideas.
I've been swamped with school this weekend so haven't gotten far enough to show any results yet.

Hopefully you'll see me in “The Dead Shall Walk” soon!

May Nagash rule for Eternity.

I dont mind the heads, it's the stupidly posed wings that killed them for me. I reposed them to be a bit more natural and I think it really improves them. You can take a look at them in my plog.

Its a good Concept but it has a hint of Silent hill to it in my mind when you have swords grafted into flesh, bit like the gorgon model in essence.

Backtracking to the LOTR model I mentioned:

http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Drûzhag-The-Beastcaller

You can easily split the bats into two swarms like i have done and he is cheap as hell for GW, not to mention the bats dont look terrible like the VC ones do.
Besides I'm sure you can find a use for the goblin as well even if its just to throw at your oponent to distract him mid game... Some may even call it Tactical Genius. ;)

Thanks Nagash Worshipper, you got me to break my duck! I found Carpe Noctem while looking for inspiration for my own army and I've followed with interest for a long time, but you're in exactly the same place I am so I felt compelled to chip in... maybe one day I'll put my army on display here!

Like most players I love some of the old and new ideas in VC and TK, but loathe others, and will default to representative models rather than altering any of the official rules, just for the sake of keeping my opponents happy! I also love the potential for diversity, and want to bring more of the classic horror stereotypes into my games.

I'll be using Witches as Necrotects; we have never had witches, and I see no reason why not! Bitter crones spitting vile curses and refusing to die... lots of character there! I see them as sorcerous, intuitive casters as a counterfoil to the studied wizardry of the Necromancer, and as moths drawn to the Balefire.
This also gives me the excuse I wanted to replace the Mortis Engine which in theme I personally consider a little contrived, with a Witch Coven on a wagon pulled by constructs in similar vein to the Corpse Carts that I love, using the bone beasts from the Skull Catapult. Crowded around a cauldron and combining their powers, they would also fall into the category of augmenting casters, as they offer a similar regeneration bonus.
I'm walking a well-trodden path by converting Ogres into Flesh Golems, but representing the Ushabti rather than Crypt Horrors; as constructs they suit the Frankenstein's Monsters theme better in my opinion; I'll exploit this connection to Victoriana and Steampunk in some of my other models...
I'm headswapping Vargheists and using these as Gargoyles, or Stone Golems like the Ushabti in fluff, intended in my eyes to represent Markus the Fallen, my sole Varghulf, and used unless summoned as waypoints by the vampire lords in their realm to cow the masses.
I'll be using Werewolves to rep my Crypt Horrors... why on Earth would a vampire waste even a drop of his precious blood on those degenerates? The blood is the life! Besides, what horror lineup is complete without Werewolves? Furthering this I wrestled with the Ghoul King rules, they're just so different from standard Vampires, and decided that I could use the Strigoi model to rep a standard Vampire devoid of social niceties, perhaps with a 'win at all costs' mentality, freeing up the Ghoul King rules for a Werewolf Lord of sorts, maybe like Lucius from Underworld to an extent...
I have no problem with harmonising the Wight Kings, Tomb Princes, Heralds etc. To my mind the different rules could be applied to a variety of special character Wights, eg Lord Falk from the Circle Of Blood campaign, his special rules can be reflected using the Restless Dead Battlescroll. Krell's generic and albeit less powerful counterpart would be the Herald, and with the Tomb King we have the original Wight Lord that can legally be selected as the army General! Lots of possibilities there.
I also despise the Fell Bats and GW bat swarms; fortunately there are other options. I've happily gone with Carrion birds instead and used Reaper bat swarms that are denser and better scaled; however I must say the LOTR shout will be gratefully employed to thicken the mass of bats on each base, thanks Duke Danse Macabre!
I'm hoping to roll the Terrorgheist, Necrosphinx and Tomb Sphinx into an Abyssal Terror category, which I always felt could use a little diversity. I can't wait to see the Undead Mammoth conversion, the thought of it's pushed all my buttons!
Regarding Tomb Scorpions, I have bought one but will relish removing the sarcophagus, also for a fellow sand-burrower I found a Bone Crab which will serve as my second.
Finally, the Black Coach and Coven Throne. I'm sorry, but I cannot buy into a stately carriage employed as a war machine, nor a floating boudoir. I'm using a Doom Wheel with a Dire Wolf as the 'motor' spinning a coruscating turbine of dark magic reverse-engineered from Skaven technology by my Frankenstein-inspired 'Technomancer', who will ride an abomination of a Nightmare converted from the Empire Mechanical Horse and of course, some horse meat!
Heading in the opposite direction, a mate of mine had the idea of repping the Coven Throne with a Soulstorm, literally a column of spirits bearing the rider along; only problem is this doesn't explain the 2× WS5, I5 attacks, though the chattering souls could happily explain the Prescience rule and perhaps the Battle Of Wills...
For Ghasts I again turn to Reaper for Garravank, the Ghoul King... bigger, meaner and either weilding a spinal cord, or eating a large chunk of flesh!

I hope these ideas offer some inspiration; could you guys please point me in the direction of more fluff and cool models? Thanks!

Agh forgot to say again thanks Nagash Worshiper for the idea of using the classic Nagash model as a Heirotitan, never thought of it! I'd never field Nagash in his current state, I like to distance him from my story as it gives my tale more freedom within the world and Nagash as a demigod is pretty cool, but also overpowered on the table, but the idea of using his likeness to channel dark powers... Absolutely brilliant! I'd love to see a cackling swarm of self-flagellating devotees and a firebrand demagogue dragging the statue into battle, or marching alongside it. Any thoughts?

For everyone who's had a look at this so far I apologize for such a late update. Haven't had much time with the hobby for awhile. I'm also sorry for my por photo. Anyway, here's the newest addition:

A Nagash Preacher (Necrotect, still unsure what to call this fellow)
Within some ghoul tribes, where Nagash is worshipped as a god, these ghouls are like shamans and spiritual leaders. They're still savage and animalistic predators like the rest of their kin but evolved enough for the use of rituals and ceremony. Examples would be simple cave pictures in blood or human sacrifices. All in the worship of Nagash which for all intents is their god.
It is said that when one of these "priests" fight in the undead legions they attract evil spirits and it effects the undeads close by. Corpses fight like they where filled with unholy fervor and broken undead beings knit back together with more ease.

ai1072.photobucket.com_albums_w372_drphiliro_Mobile_20Uploads_image_zpsocmwh2dr.jpg

This turned out to be easier than i originally thought. Not much conversion done really, just a few add-ons. The tall hat was an absolute must ;).
I imagine he picked up that book from an abandoned mausoleum and use it to preach before his tribe (even thou he can't read there should be some pictures of his god in there, finger painted over some other more delicate writings).

What do you think so far? Is it a good way to execute the Necrotect option in Undead Legions?

Thanks Dragonet!

New update!
It's a Ghoul Captain (Tomb Prince).
ai1072.photobucket.com_albums_w372_drphiliro_Mobile_20Uploads_image_zpsbjxtzkgl.jpg

These were as one could say tribal leaders amongst ghouls but has become more so. If a vampire sees potential in one of these, and is inclined to bother doing something about it, then the chieftain is brought in and trained. They become loyal and sturdy officers in the army.

Not only have their bloodline been prosperous, giving their bodies more recilience and strength than ordinary ghouls but they also become very skilled in the use of weapons. Having trained with the undying blade-masters the ghouls reach a potential that is rarely seen amongst mortal men.

Even with training and official military ranking these officers are the lowest leaders. It is rare to see a Ghoul Captain treated with any semblance of respect by a vampire.

I know, right? Ridiculous hats are, like, obligatory on a proper undead legion army. I especially like the Empire Wizard hat you used. I used the same hat for my master necromancer:

Painting's still a work in progress.

Works for me. I mean, I like explicitly mixing TK and VC themes in my own undead legion, to represent actual TK traitors and defectors, and the forces of Arkhan the Black. But I also love your expanded look at the ghoul tribes that worship Nagash. A ghoulish equivalent of a warrior priest running as a necrotect is actually a great idea, and I think you've pulled it off very well.

That Master Necromancer is ace! Very nice paint job! Even if it isn't done it's looking great so far!

Here's the progress on a Nagash Idol (Hierotitan) so far:

I'm wondering if it's in need of more color or details? It's a living statue of Nagash that emits dark magics. I'm worried that more color (like bronze details) would ruin the image of a statue.
Seneschal gave me a tip of using moss on the model to enhance the statue-effect but I'm reluctant to ad anything "living" to an Undead army.

So anyway this fellow is turning into a Ghoul General (converted Tomb King) and it's only a few more details before he's completely done (like the horns on his back). I'll just show it as it is for now!

As rare as it is finding Ghoul Captains within the ranks of a Vampires army, they're almost common compared to the sight of an actual ghoul in command.
A Ghoul General has not only grown far stronger than any other type of ghoul. It has become something almost as alien to their own kin as to vampires, a strong leader.
Ghoul Generals have not only surpassed their kind but also mastered the martial arts. They are extremely skilled with a weapon and protected by good armor. More so a Ghoul Generals willpower is so extremely strong that not only can it resist Vampires and Necromancers control but in turn dominate them as well.
A vampire who engages a Ghoul General in combat do so at a risk. For even if a vampire would never admit it the fight would be far from one sided. Often a Ghoul Generals background is linked with the death of a former vampire master with no other present to take command. However there are a few stories of how the right to lead has been settled in a duel.
A Ghoul General is also a formidable battle commander for their status could not have been possible without a good head for warfare. Experimenting with different methods and unconventional approaches they are a formidable foe. Because of this there can often be seen strange undead constructs, horrible unliving experiments or terrible animated war engines in a Ghoul Generals army for they don't care what may be proper or traditional, only what can provide results. This not only attracts necromancers into joining but also necrarch vampires and the like.
To assume that a Ghoul General would favor the use of his own kin in combat is mistaken for they know more than anyone what a liability their cowardly nature is.

Basically I just wanted him to look like a more pimped up Ghoul Captain. His equipment is more ornate and his pose is more casual (maybe he's a bit taller to) but there are still some similarities between them. Like the cover over the mouth for example.
