Hello and Welcome to my Undead blog! At the moment there is not much to see here as I have no models yet but I thought I'd just reserve this space here allready as theres some skellies coming my way from over the big pond.
I'll use this topic to show you guys the progress of my Undead army. I cannot guarantee it will be on a regular basis as I'm also in the process of repainting a 10k chaos army.
Anyway, while I'm waiting on my skellies and thinking up paint shemes I dove into my bitzbox and found some stuff that might come in handy for this project, amongst them a badly treated skeleton from a couple of years ago. This inspired me to start work on my wight king as I want to sculpt him myself.
This'll be the plan:
Quick concept sketch:
Meet Chadon'ache'zzr, an ancient arabian king. I'm still thinking up shields, but I want the moon/sickle to be a dominating aspect. He's based on a pic I found of a very cool undead warrior from some (to me) unknown miniatures company.
he's the base I'm going to use
These are some bits I had lying around. From the skeleton I will only use the head and the skirt/legs as his arms are in a very irritating pose and shall be resculted anyway, so will the body. I will sculpt over the skirt/remaining foot and helmet though. So not much of the original model will be visible.
Also, I found this stuff in my bitzbox. I have no idea what vile purpose they shall serve in the end, but I'm definatly going to use that dragon! Does anybody actually know what manufacturer it's from?
EDIT: If anyone has an idea for suitable legs for this dragon that would be much apreciated
Darn I was going to ask where you found that Dragon. I would love to get one like that as it would save me a tremendous mount of time, instead of trying to sculpt a skeletal dragon. If you find out where it is from, let me know.
Fantastic concept for the leader by the way, I can't wait to see what you end doing to him.
The concept art looks great, a warrior like that should look very imposing.
I don't know where that dragon is from, but if you found out let the rest of us know! I personally would leave it without legs, I think it looks better like that.

I found the dragon in a bitzbox on a garage sale, together with some really old wood elves. So I have nothing to refer to. looked it up on google and there's several manufacturers making skeletal dragons, so if you don't feel like sculpting one, just look it up and yuo'll find some. Still if you find mine, do tell me what it's from.
I'm thinking to leave off the legs if I don't find any fitting ones soon. I'm also thinking about how to put the vampire on it as the dragons pose and shoulders don't really lend itself to it and I don't know if I feel like repositioning it entirely.
Now, I know this isn't much but I never expected sculpting to go fast :P
Lemme show you the base for the torso and the wristbands.
I also decided to make the model slightly bigger than the original (which was 5th ed. and allready bigger than the new skeletons) purely to make him more menacing and probably just cooler.
Here's the shield I did as a warm up. Dunno if this is the shield he will have in the end but it's a start.
The flash in this pic doesn't allow you to see some of the details such as the battle damage in the moon
progress on these greens hopefully by tomorrow night.
I like it so far, and I have to just start drooling over the Arabian theme. If you can pull it off, Salaam and all kinds of blessings that don't involve the fleas of a thousand camels be upon you. I kinda have a soft spot for their culture, I don't know why.
That dragon looks kickass. Seriously. I want one. Find out where it came from!
And the dude-with-the-incredibly-long-name is coming along nicely, his shield is spot on from what you said you wanted it to be. I'm going to subscribe to this thread, feel special. It's my third subscription.
Committing vandalism one grey model at a time! Grey must go!
So new update. After a long day of work (Aka 4 hours of drawing models nonstop) I was happy to get home a continue on my wight lord so here's the next step:
The base for the skirt.
I know it look pretty bad atm, but that'll be fixed by trimming the edges when it's dry and the next layers will cover up any faults. I just needed that sturdy base layer to work on.
I also started on the head:
This will be the middle pin from which I will build the 2 others and the cresents.
This looks promising and I'm looking forward to seeing him finished. Having said that I think the shield in the top right corner of your sketch looks best for an Arabian, so definitely go with that.
The skirt is finally getting a bit of the shape I want it to have. It's still not done but once this update has hardened I can start the chest plate.
The helmet now has it's base:
Again thanks for the compliments!
As a preparation towards the future. I'm am quite blank on how to convert the R&F skellies. I really want this arabian theme going but not quite sure how to do it. I'm thinking of sculpting tagelmusts on some of them, trying to make especially use of the previous ed skellies who had scimitars. But other than this I'm at a blank for the moment. But I guess this will change in due time.
yes I saw those allready and their really nice but I want to go another direction here. I've been looking for inspiration the last couple of hours and found this theme which seems to have definate arabian influences. It would also fit a bit with the whole "fleet theme", in an effort not to label them as pirates.
Ah I can definitley see it starting to take shape now. An impressive amount of work over these few days, I wish I could use GS, but I just get into a sticky mess......again

Haven't done that much but the sculpting is going more into the details now.
done some more leather armour on the skirt and built the base of the chest plate.
you see those studs on the edgde of the skirt? they're supposed to go all over the skirt like on the original model. But it's really a mystery how those sculptors do it! They're so frickin small! The ones I tried are way to big and will be trimmed once dry and it's really a pain in the ass to get them to stick to the model instead of squashing them on your finger.
Here's a pic of the amount of GS I use for my studs (and it's still too much!)
Oh yeah, and sculpted the first cresents on the helmet
