Decided to do a legit Kings of War army this past summer, and the idea for a Shire-themed all halfling League of Rhordia army was too fun to pass. Allying in a few Nature units for Middle-earth flavor, and off we go.

First, the Dunedain. The remnants of the North kingdom of Arnor, called Rangers. Aragorn has enlisted the Grey Company to guard the borders of the Shire.

Next, the Grey Pilgrim. Long has Gandalf taken a particular interest in the Shire and it's strange folk, who are particularly fond of his fireworks.
    [Counts As: Halfling Iron Beast]

And last for this update, mighty Brethildil, whose name means Birch-friend in the Westron tongue.

Here's Birch Bro, and damn was he fun to paint!

No basing yet, as you've noticed. Those multibases for Kings of War units are gunna be fun, but I'm waiting to do them all in one batch. Plenty of fun ideas in mind for that stage

Thanks for looking in! I do eventually intend to have Hobbits in my Shire army.

@Adam_Barrow Awesome work mate, I'm a big fan of how you've done your greys in this army so far. The contrast is really sharp on Gandalf's & the Rangers' robes and that yellow on the ent really makes the mini pop - it goes hand-in-hand with the grey. Top stuff!

@Farmer7574 Thanks, dude! I've always wanted to paint the Elven cloaks Frodo and the gang get in Lothlorien. I thought the Rangers might have a little Elf-lore in their ranks. Always wanted to see a birch ent too, and just my luck birches go blonde in the autumn. He'll match my green and yellow army colors well. I'll be pouring back through your forest bases soon enough. I've allied in Forces of Nature units like Birch Bro to represent the Old Forest just east of the Shire. Looking forward to doing some leafy bases.

The Old Forest east of Buckland is dangerous. The very trees attack intruders, and some have black hearts enough to move on their own. Brethildil must mind that his Huorns do not harm friend instead of foe.

Still no bases, of course. But I like how much darker these guys turned out than Birch Bro. The Huorns are angry, and I think they look the part.

Thanks for checking in! See you next month with a big batch of characters.

@Adam_Barrow They've turned out awesomely indeed, and good call making them slightly different to the first one - it works! What models are these that you've just painted up?

@Farmer7574 Thanks, homie! The Huorns are the old metal Wood Elf Treekin, with branches and leaves from the Citadel forest kit to make them read as angry trees better. I looked hard for the right models to use, and these seemed to fit the bill best after some slight modification. Glad you like em!

    Four characters done!

The Chieftain of the Dunedain may not look like much, but all that is gold does not glitter. And Strider is more than he seems.

Gildor Inglorion, of the House of Finrod, saves the Ring from the clutches of the Ringwraiths before it has even left the Shire.

Strider [Counts as: Naiad Ensnarer Captain] and Gildor Inglorion [Counts as: Madriga]

Fredegar 'Fatty' Bolger conspired with Sam, Merry, and Pippin to sneak Frodo out of the Shire, and it was Fatty who roused Buckland when the Nazgul advanced into Crickhollow.

Samwise the Brave needs no introduction, though the horn he blows belongs to Merry, a gift from the Rohirrim.

Fatty Bolger [Counts as: Halfling Master Sergeant] and Samwise Gamgee (Counts as: Halfling Army Standard Bearer]

Awesome characters mate, I'd forgotten all about that Strider miniature's existence - excellent miniature. Nice job painting these guys up too... What style of basing are you going to go for?

@Farmer7574 Cheers for that! These guys took longer than expected, but were still loads of fun. The bases are gunna be split into 2 styles. The regular hobbit units are gunna be based very Shire, lush plants in spring colors. The Forces of Nature allies (both tree units, the Rangers) are getting forest bases with birch seed pod leaves and the tree trunk kit I bought from @Infernal Skull 's Etsy shop. Gunna be a lot of fun, and I've got a surprise planned for my 3 horde unit bases in particular.

Thanks for looking, and for the kind words!
