In the far north of the Chaos Wastelands, the Bloodcaller Clan has existed in the frigid cold and desolation for nearly 80 years. Father Kurgan Bloodcaller wandered to the land in years past when he was first called to serve his master, never questioning why the Blood God would ask such a sacrifice of him. Over the next few decades, Kurgan strengthened the clan with his own blood, by capturing woman from his various raids and breeding them for sons, as well as breeding strong hounds. Daughters are fed to the hounds in a ritualistic manner, as well as the weak sons. In the Kurgan Clan, only the strong survive.

In the 60th year, Kurgan finally realized why Khorne had sent him north, why he favored him with so many wives and such prosperity. That year his harem had already birthed nearly 70 new males, and so the day seemed unremarkable at first. One of his harlots went into labor, but this labor lasted for days. Soon, Kurgan began to consider the prospect that he would need to feed her to the hounds to quiet the camp. As he lifted her up, the child inside of her ripped through her abdomen and immediately began feasting on what was left of his mother. Lifting the child up he saw the mark of Khorne emblazoned on his head. Taking this as a sign he tossed the child into a pit that contained three of his fiercest warhounds, only to witness MacDeath ripped the hounds to pieces. Over the next few years MacDeath would prove his worthiness, even slaying twenty one of his jealous brothers who attempted to murder him.

In his twentieth year MacDeath entered the tent of his father to tell him that he had been visited by a bestial demon, who had given him the command of Khorne to take the Clan and begin heading south, unifying the clans of the North and slaying those who refused to submit.

Nice little fluff bit there, properly bloody and savage. Although "MacDeath" is perhaps a bit too cheesy for my taste xD
Quite like the paint job you've given him though. The red and the brass looks really sweet.

Kurgan's Bred also looks very cool. You awesome ol' models you've got there.

    MACDEATH, CHOSEN OF KHORNE

Born of a harlot of Kurgan's Harem, MacDeath was an unnatural birth from the beginning. After days of labor, the infant tore through the stomach of his mother and feasted upon her flesh as his first meal. Kurgan immediately bowed in reverence when he saw his own child gifted with the mark of Khorne emblazoned on his forehead. Knowing full well that this was a sign from Khorne that this child was destined for great things, and that Khorne would let no harm come to the boy, he brought three of his fiercest war hounds to a pit and dropped the baby boy inside. MacDeath, even in his infancy, landed feet first and brutally strangled all three mutts to death, proceeding to suckle blood as if feeding from his mother when he was finished. His father then fashioned a great cloak from the hides of the hounds and gifted it to his son. This victory would be but the first of many that Khorne would challenge him with.

During his tenth year, MacDeath encountered a monstrous demon of a horse. After four days of fierce battle, MacDeath finally wrestled the beast to the ground and forced it into submission. Over the next years a great resentment grew in the tribe from Kurgans favoritism of his son, and in his 16th year twenty one of his brothers entered his tent to slay him, only to find death for themselves. Now the skulls of his brothers decorate his horse and cloak, a deadly reminder to all of his kin of who now rules the clan.
In his twentieth year, a bestial demon visited MacDeath while he was out hunting. The Demon itself challenged him to personal combat and a clash of immense power emerged. The Blood Thirster, filled with rage as these demons tend to be, charged forward bellowing. MacDeath waited for the charge patiently, sidestepping at the last moment to leap upon the monsters back and using every muscle he possessed to grasp the horns protruding from the demons head wrenched its head unnaturally, snapping its neck. Both beast and man slumped to the ground, and when MacDeath looked up again the Demon was gone, replaced with a monstrous ethereal face which he knew to be the spirit of Khorne.

“You will be my champion in the times to come!” The voice of Khorne bellowed. “Take the bastards of Kurgan forward and unite the tribes. Those who do not submit to you will add their skulls to my throne.” Motioning towards the ground at MacDeath’s feet, the presence spoke again. “I gift you this blade with the spirit of this greater Demon. Go now south MacDeath, and return only when the world once again bows to the will of the Chaos Gods!”

Mad'At: Thanks! MacDeath was a sorcerer (I think) that they popped a picture of in back in the 3rd edition Warhammer book, but even before that when I was really young and actually playing fantasy games I used the name for my warrior characters.

    KURGAN BLOODCALLER

Kurgan Bloodcaller, worshipper of Khorne, breeder of dogs, and hoarder of harlots. Kurgan began life as a blacksmiths son in a small village on the outskirts of Erengrad, nearly one hundred and twenty years ago. His first twenty years of life were relatively sedentary, being apprenticed to his father. But, in the year 2420 a Goblin Warlord named Grom the Paunch poured across the north of the empire with a huge horde, the likes of which had not been seen. Kurgan immediately volunteered with the militia of Erengrad, feeling the call to war in his blood. Over the next two years, his prowess as a warrior earned him a promotions, and soon he led the bedraggled militias against the hordes. Wherever he went, victory followed, even when knights or regulars fled the unit known as the Sons of Kurgan stood tall. But into the second year of the war, something very strange began to happen; his rage in battle seemed to be relentless and would persist even after the fighting was done. He began to despise those around him as weaklings, particularly any unit that had fled from the enemy. But eventually, this became a commonality within his own unit as well. On a daily basis Kurgan could be found challenging those around him to personal combat, slaying all that accepted. This went on for months, until after another defeat to the goblin masses and an ordered retreat by the Lord Marshall of the Northern Forces, Kurgan found himself face to face with the commander. Challenging the man directly for his cowardice, the rage berserked Kurgan found himself surrounded by the Lord Marshalls personal guard, who began to beat him with the blunt end of their spears. The Lord Marshall then stepped forward and accepted the challenge from the now bruised and bloodied Kurgan, and defeated him. Dumping Kurgans body on the side of the road as the army continued its retreat.

“Wake, Kurgan” a voice in his head bellowed. “Your time in this world is not yet over. Wake, and go north. There you will find the challenges you deserve, and that are deserving of your blade.” And so Kurgan raised himself up, and without another thought began his trek to the Chaos Wasteland, to embrace his new master, Khorne. Upon his way he fought many battles, and destroyed many settlements, always taking either bone or woman as his prize. It was years later that Kurgan finally found a settlement in the far North, and soon began to gather the women he defeated to his harem and any female born were added to that number as well. With over 342 women in his Harem, the tribe has produced many male children as well, whom Kurgan refers to as his bastards.

Dressed in armour made from the bones of those he has slain, Kurgan knew that his purpose had been to breed MacDeath into life. Now, the true Bastards of Kurgan will ride to battle the likes of which they had never done..

I really like your minis and the stories you devised for them. Especially for proving that chaos/khorne minis can be simple and still look great and effective, unlike new minis. I like Kurgan especially, the cape is great! Simple, subdued, yet very good!

    KURGAN'S BRED

These warhounds have been raised by Kurgan to be the fiercest, toughest, and most controllable animals in all the northland. Fed only human flesh since birth (mostly from the undesirable children and women of Kurgans Harem), these monstrosities are larger by far than any normal hound.

@Borgnine called that cape simple, but tell me something @mousekiller , is that arrow decal all free hand? Because if it is it's amazing. Your PLOGS are inspiring man, keep it up. I've love to see you enter the painting comp sometime.

Yeah, the cape emblem is freehand, but keep in mind it is flat and very two dimensional! Anything above that and my art skills are very limited, lol! Thanks so much Lethal, now that I am active again I might just have to sign up for a painting comp!

@Leithel simple doesn't mean simplistic ;) The design is simple, the colors are toned and the execution is great - I appreciated it against gaudy chaos warriors that GW produces now.

@mousekiller That must have been a lot of women and children to feed them to reach that size ;) I love the hounds - each one is very distinct, yet they also form a very nice looking unit. I love the red tone on the scorpion tail, especially visible near the tip - just like in some real life animals where strong colors signify danger.

@Borgnine : These guys were so much fun to paint up, I will have to look for suitable hounds to add to the unit in the future! Thanks again for all the help!
