It was morning in Altdorf and inthe throne room of the Imperial palace an important meeting perhaps the most important since before the Lord of the Endtimes chaos incursion was taking place. Present in the room were Emperor Karl Franz, Grand Theoganist Volkmar, Commander of the Reiksguard Kurt Helborg, The Emperor's bodyguard Ludwig Schwarzhelm and the supreme patriarch of the colleges of magic Balthazar Gelt. Also at the meeting were representatives from other areas. Imperial general Hans Aldrech a military expert in fighting the undead so the Emperor had been told. There was also Franz von Malksing of the Witchunter order who had recently returned from a mission in the Badlands still recovering from injuries he had sustained there. Next to him was Johanne von schreiber also of the witchhunter order who specialised in eliminating Strigoi. From the order of Morr was Mathias Vanderhaven one of its oldest members who knew more about the von Carstein vampires than any man alive in the empire and finally Balthazar von Pestise of the Amethyst College a shadowy figure who rarely got involved in the petty politics of the empire but specialised in fighting those who practised necromancy.

"These have being testing times." The voice than rang out was deep and commanding, yet it was not cold like many of those in power were. It had a certain warmth and passion to it, it was voice that inspired men to acts of bravery and soothed women and children.
His most Imperial Highness, Emperor Karl-Franz I von Holswig-Schliestein, Grand Prince of Altdorf, Count of the Reikland, Protector of The Empire stood as he addressed his advisors. To look at him one would not have assumed he was anyone out of the ordinary. Well built it might have been thought he was a warrior, but it was only when you looked into his eyes that the realisation came that this was no ordinary man. There was almost an aura of calmness and confidence, and it was clear that whatever the situation here was a person who would not fail to carry it his duty.

"You all know why I have called you here today. Sylvania." Many of those he addressed nodded their heads. That cursed place had been a canker in the Empire for far too long, and it was well know that hellspawned Mannfred von Carstein had retreated back their during the recent Chaos incursion. Still recovering from only just avoiding annihilation, the greatest land of men had not the resources to scourge Sylvania, to hunt the vampire down as they had done in the past. To that end the borders had been closed and watches posted. News had been troublesome, of various vampire factions battling for the land, there had even been rumours that Mannfred had been killed by one of his own kind though it was unsubstantiated.

More recently however, the destruction of an Empire army had finally forced the issue back into hand, no longer could the Empire afford to ignore Sylvania.

"Most worryingly is the lack of information we have on recent activities," the Emperor carried, "we do not know which rumours are true, one of which presents something which troubles me the most. What do we know about this 'Vampire Council'?"

Balthazar von Pestise stepped forward "Your Majesty the order of the Amethyst knows little of this so called Vampire Council. Though we have heard rumours and stories which have been getting more frequent of late. I believe the my colleages in the witchhunter order are familiar with these recent events. The break in of the vaults of the college of Light, The gathering of the Arisen not far from here which I believe they assaulted and were repelled by a comet of Cassandora and this business in the Border Princes which I gather is now held against us by an unknown enemy. Perhaps General Aldrech could tell us more about that? I believe he has been looking into the business down south?"

Aldrech creased his forehead as he appeared in thought. ‘’I have some business with them yes’’ he stated. ‘’It’s unknown exactly what they are planning, for the time being they seem to have retreated back into Sylvania.’’ He reported.

‘’It’s my belief that these factions are attempting to unify the normal feuding vampires and unite them’’ he theorized. ‘’Which in any case would be a worrying example in the most, I fear a repeat of the Vampires Wars may be at hand’’ he said.

‘’This is all based upon me own personal observations, and may not even be true, this could all be a series of unfortunate coincidences, but I don’t think that’s very likely at all.’’ The general said.

Franz nodded at Aldrech’s words. If the general had a suspicion it would pay well to heed it, he had rarely been wrong in the past.
“If the vampires unite it could indeed be a worrying prospect. Their inability to work together is what has helped stop many of their uprisings in the past. It would seem this “Vampire Council” may possibly be the driving force behind such a goal. Certainly their name suggests such.” Picking up some papers close to hand he leafed through them before finding the one he was looking for.
“This report is from one of the survivors of an army which recently was defeated by an undead force. It speaks of a relief force which broke them, led by and I quote ‘a blond haired creature of noble standing, terrible and beautiful to look upon. He seemed to care not for the battle as he drank from his goblet of blood, and all other vampires bowed down before him to kiss his ring.’” Franz paused as he let the implications of this sink in.
“I know my history as we as we all do gentlemen. Mannfred was certainly not blond so who is this new unknown power in Sylvania, and more worryingly what of this ring they speak of? Though our forbearers did not know it at the time, we do now know that a powerful ring was the reason why the first Count of Sylvania could not be killed easily, If that ring has been recovered and is upon the hand of another vampire bent on our destruction, it could prove to be the Empire’s undoing.”

Mathias Vanderhaven stepped forward "Your Majesty if I may speak I may be able to identify this mystery vampire. You've given me enough information to think that we should all be very worried."

"Out of all of the Sylvanian vampires descended from Vlad von Carstein there is only one that stands out from the others with blond hair. Also the mannerisms fit the profile of the one I am thinking of. Simon von Carstein one of Vlad's most dangerous enforcers. During the war he demoralised the entire south with bloodthirsty and brutal assaults on the villages and hamlets there." stated Mathias looking quite pale "He killed the greatest vampire hunter of my order just because he could and continues to wield that hunter's sword to this day. He is a peerless swordsman who could probably make short work of Marshal Helborg and Sir Schwarzhelm with little effort. When he sets his mind to a task he will complete it no matter what the cost and always leave dozens of corpses in his wake." Seeing not everyone in the room was convinced by the potential threat he added "Simon is not an ordinary vampire. The way he acts its almost like he never died, never stopped being human. He walks in the daylight unharmed, He has never been known to be stopped by our holy relics or faith in our gods and he doesn't sleep in caskets. All the traditional weaknesses of the vampires might as well not apply to him. He doesn't treat them as obstacles he just finds ways around them."

"We only need to worry if this Council is of One Bloodline, an alliance between such creatures would never last for the lines despise each other" Johanne said calmly from his seat, his Greatsword leaned casually against his chair. "However, we should take caution, I suggest blocking off Sylvania, No one goes in or out, Second We must round up and eliminate all Strigani Clans within our borders, for they are known conspirators of Vampires".

''They are not of one bloodline'' Malksing suggested. ''We have recived reports of larger, hulking beasts, operatign alongside withered mummies and more human-looking vampires, obviously there are multiple undead united by a partiuclarly strong lord'' he said.

Narrowing his eyes as he listened to the others speak/ Volkmar set his mind slightly to the time of the recent Storm of Chaos when he had sternly stared down Mannfred Von Carstein. He had seen the twisted logic behind the eyes of the Count of Sylvania and he had felt a momentary fear at what he saw. What had stared back was not the single minded devotion of Chaos, only a hatred of life. Not a cold hatred, but a calculated belief that life was not right. Normal men would have cracked but Volkmar too had seen death stare him down and he had returned from it. These beasts had a lot in common with him, and that thought made Volkmar shiver right down his spine. Combined his moustache to the side slightly, he continued to listen, ready to mention his own conversation with Emanuelle Von Liebwitz and an ambassador from the Moot recently in Nuln.

"So Mannfred has been replaced with a vampire just as powerful, and no doubt just as bloodthirsty," Franz mused, "no doubt his new station means he feel he has something to prove, which may make him all the more volatile. Perhaps we can use that to our advantage. Is this Simon a member of this Council or are they opposed to him? If the latter perhaps they can be encouraged to tear each other apart."

Sitting down the Emperor looked tired, the recent war and now this seemed to have aged him,
" We seem to be sorely lacking in concrete information, and I am hesitate to risk the lives of our men on a venture where we do not know who is our definite foe. Plus there is more news, something which eclipses even that of the vampire uprising. Balthazar if you please."

(OOC: I mean for him to talk about Nagash's return to power when the energy pulse carried across the old world.)

Balthazar Gelt stood up "Gentlemen! As I'm sure you are aware not long ago there was an incident where many of our citizens with a connection to the winds of magic felt an incredible surge of power. Many of the weaker members of the colleges went into trances from which they have yet to wake from whilst others just collapsed and died on the spot. Fortunately our stronger magic users survived with only a little discomfort including myself. I believe that this was the final sign of the return of a great and powerful enemy not seen since the formation of the Empire. The greatest human magic user ever to exist. NAGASH!"

''Given that this Simon Von Carstein now rules Slyvania and the councill is operating freely we must assume that he is part of the group until we can prove otherwise'' von Malksing said. ''Otherwise it would be foolish to act to quickly.'' he said.

''And how do we know that the Dark one is truely back? Do we have any proof of this?'' von Malksing said.

"That is the problem, we have little proof. The vampires have been clever enough to leave few survivors, most which are now beyond sanity." Franz stroked his chin thoughtfully, his mind though of plans. Turning to the Theogonist he looked at him in slight surprise.

"You have been quiet Volkmar. Normally you are the first to speak your thoughts. Are there no visions of what is to come, to divinations of what action we should take."

Turning his pensive gaze to the Emperor, Volkmar found he had rested his chin on his fist while listening to the others. He lowered the fist, slightly embarrased for about half a second before he began to speak.

"There is something else. Well, two other things. Something from my churchs is missing, the tome used to stop Mannfred Von Carstein during his first visit to one of our fair cities." His face became noticably heavier as he continued "And Countess Von Liebwitz claims that one of her 'friends' in the Moot has reported heavy activity in the area around Castle Schwarzberg, another notorious vampire nest. The halflings have harping on about being able to taste a good deal more evil in their cooking. I assumed this is literal evil and not a chefs idea of a joke by adding extra pepper...Digressing as I am, the point remains, something stirs in Sylvania and we could be dealing with a complete undead civil war."

Finally pausing for breathe, he turned his eyes back to the others assembled in the room. Taking a deep breath, he continued.

"I am also concerned that the Chancellor of the Ostermark hasn't sent his usual telegram with pleasantries on it to me. After my little stare odwn with Mannfred I have been showing interest in repelling the Undead." He was nearly finished now and everyone looked slightly releived. "Of course we are not the only ones with Vampires on our borders. Perhaps a query to the King of Bretonnia would not be amiss."

It sounded like a question, it wasn't. Volkmar returned his chin to his fist and turned, looking pensive once more as he tried to decipher what it could possibly all mean.

"Truly a hornet's nest has been stirred up, one which we cannot ignore." Karl Franz stood straight, looking every bit the Emperor he was, "we have defied the evil more than once, we shall do so again. What are your proposals gentlemen?"

"Well assumably this is one of the reasons we have the League of the Ostermark poised to strike at Sylvania. It still remains to be seen of the Chaos influence in the area, from Vardek Crom." Volkmar twizzled the end of his moustache again "Perhaps it is time we seized the opportunity and dealt a pre-emptive strike to this council and the land of Sylvania before it can come hunting for us." He let go of the moustache again. He was still pensive.

"Merely an idea of course. I'm open to any other suggestions."

"A possible plan, yet one with many risks. Unlike the hordes of chaos we yet do not know exactly what we face. The Empire's forces are still recovering, and to attack without knowledge of what we face seems foolhardy. What do the rest of you say to this suggestion?"

"Your Majesty. I would not advise a full scale attack especially in regards to certain information that has been gathered by members of my Order." answered Mathias hobbling closer and placing a document before the Emperor. It was a map of the old world "The red marks show extensive undead activity." he said grimly. The others crowded round to see "By Sigmar!" exclaimed Hans Albrech in horror. "They're everywhere! Sylvania, Border Princes, Badlands and Blood Keep. They're must be thousands. Hundreds of thousands of them by now."

''If there is that many of them we mustmake peace with the Brettonians and fortify the borders at once'' Aldrech declared. ''We must prepare another striking force then, the last was we allowed the Carsteins to take us by suprise, we must never allow that to happen again.''

As if in answer to Aldrech's words, the door to the chamber opened, and three people walked in.
One was a woman with black hair wearing a breastplate and traveling cloak, a sword was belted to her side and a belt of silver stakes was strapped across her should and chest.
One was a large man, also wearing a breastplate and traveling cloak with a sword, belt of stakes and a shield on his back. His arms and legs where completely covered despite the warm weather, and he wore two leather gloves.
The other was a man who wore a large greatcoat, the collar of which covered most of his lower face.

The three people stopped several paces before the lords of the Empire.
The woman and the big man knelt down before Emperor Karl-Franz.
The man in the greatcoat did not.

"My lords, may I present to you Alena Hoffmann and Eckart Köhler."
said Volkmar, who was glaring at the man in the greatcoat.
The man payed no attention to Volkmar at all.
He suddenly spoke to the Emperor, his voice had some northern accent.
"Its been a long time has it not Franz? My offer remains open to you, but I suppose the answer to my Gift is the same?"

''What gift?'' Aldrech asked them, looking over the two new arrivals. They had the look of vampire hunters, but the man seemed to be..off somehow. ''Please enlighten me as to how two people can help the Empire?''

"If my Lord will permit me to be so bold, we are the currently the most accomplished Vampire Hunters able to answer my Lords summons."
    Said Köhler reverently.
"We have dealt with many cabals and covens of the Undead before now, and with the Grace of Sigmar we have triumphed, and learned much in combating the unholy forces of the risen dead, we also have recently come into the possession of a secret weapon we believe can tip the scales in any battle against the Vampire in our favor."
Müller smiled under his collar. What he wouldnt give to take off the silver and ravage every single one of these pathetic meat sacks. Except for Karl Franz he reminded hismelf. The man had long ago won his respect.
"We have taken the liberty of forming a plan my Lord, and with the permission of Sigmar's holy church, we shall carry it out with the greatest fervor that our hearts can endure."
    Köhler continued.

‘’And that plan is?’’ von Malksing asked, somewhat suspiciously. He inwardly doubted their assertion that they where the greatest vampire hunters that where at the Emperor’s call, to him it seemed to ridiculous. He had plenty of experience with cocky vampire hunters.

‘’Exactly what is this miracle weapon?’’
