I would recommend the citadel wood set. You get a bunch of trees which can be chopped up and converted easily. I have seen some pretty cool monsters made from them. Malifaux also does some cool trees if you look them up. I have one in my plog as a Varghulf.

It has been a bad change for Warhammer in general, no doubt about it. Asrai has also given notice it is closing down, though I believe either the high elf or dark elf forum is now absorbing it/taking it over?

@Borgnine Sounds perfect to me. I love corpse carts and actually have had an idea for a conversion for a long while now. If we don't hear from @jediguru with a different idea then perhaps the next challenge could be corpse cart or even chariot (Coven throne, mortis engine, corpse cart)?
