A list made out of just the limited range of models I currently own (26 Warriors, 24 Gants, 24 Gaunts, a Box of Genestealers, Two Venomthropes, a Zoanthrope, Hive tyrant and one OOP Warrior Prime)

== HQ ==
Hive Tyrant (1) - Heavy Venom Cannon, Lash Whip And Bonesword, Regeneration = 235 pts.

== Elites ==
Venomthrope (1) = 45 pts.
Venomthrope (1) = 45 pts.
Zoanthrope (1) = 50 pts.

== Troops ==
Tyranid Warrior Brood (3) - Rending Claws, Scything Talons = 105 pts.
Tyranid Warrior Brood (3) - Deathspitter, Scything Talons = 105 pts.
Tyranid Warrior Brood (3) - Devourer, Scything Talons = 90 pts.
Termagant Brood (24) - Devourer = 192 pts.
Hormagaunt Brood (24) = 120 pts.

== Total ==
987 pts.

The battle plan:
I dont know the enemy or what kind of list he might be bringing, which I'm fine with because the Hive Mind isn't picky about who it eats. The Tyrant would sit in the Warrior Squad (I forget, can he actually JOIN the squad or not?) equipped with Death Spitters (I considered placing him at the back of a swarm of Gaunts as well, for a bullet sponge), the Devourer Warriors are obviously with the Devil Gants, the Rending Claw Warriors are with the Hormagaunts. A Venomthrope sits next to the Tyrant at all times, the second one joins the Termagants (They just sit around in cover and hope not to die). The Zoanthrope is on its own for now, I guess.

Hi :)

Being that you made your list out of what limited models you had and this thread is alittle old, I'm just going to talk about future buys you could use at this point level and certain items you could switch out for certain units. Also you can't put the Tyrant in a squad of Warriors but you can put a Warrior Prime (preferably with the Miasma Cannon) in a Warrior squad.

Now with the advice.

- I'd say get more Gants and Gaunts, but those 26 Warriors speak for themselves! The Warrior broods should grab a cannon of your choice with Rending Talons on the others to hold objectives which is all I use them for (because of the fact that instant death is really scary for these troops and they love cover). If you have to run them on the frontlines the build you have with Devourers and Rending Talons are good (but once again instant death will be painful).
- Heavy Venom Cannon on a Tyrant is decent, but you want to get it in combat as soon as possible (which limits it's effectiveness). If you you want to shoot with a Tyrant either take a flying Tyrant with 2 Twin-linked Devourers with Brainleeches or add a Stranglethorn Cannon to your walking Tyrant(Pinning helps the swarm).
- Keep in mind you can have different gun set ups for Termagaunts, if you want to save points a Fleshborer and Devourer build is pretty good. The cheaper Fleshborers in the frontlines absorbing enemy fire for the more expensive Devourers.
- I go Gaunts with Adrenal Glands, but it is a preference. Furious Charge and Fleet can help pop vehicles (back armour) and get into combat faster!
- If possible take Genestealers they are considered one of the best assault units, but be careful around Daemons and Invun saves (it laughs at them).

Advice on Purchases
- Tyrant Guard, they are a must have if your taking a walking tyrant since they are made to escort your Hq. They can automatically take Look Out, Sir wounds for the Hive Tyrant. They fairly tanky with high toughness and a great save (sadly can't post the stats), trust me if you wanna footslog a tyrant you get these.
- Get another Zoanthrope in the unit for ranged anti-tank (which this list is lacking) and for survivability

Hope this helps!
