Well, I suppose I may as well post up my list while I'm waiting for you to post the map. I typically like to add some cool fluff text before the game, but to be honest, I have no idea how to rationalize the Tau Empire and the Dark Eldar fighting each other. Maybe my guys were all like, "Greater Good!" and the DE just said "No, that sounds dumb." It was probably something like that.
Okay, so here's my list. It looks kinda frightening to me on paper. It's my first game under the new DE book (Yeah, I know, it's not that "new" anymore... I just don't have the time that I used to have to play games.. )
I'm about to define my army, but I have one question for you: what size should I make my Tau vehicles? I know they're a good deal bigger than Rhinos, and a rectangle would probably be adequate to represent their profile, but what kind of dimensions would I be looking at here?
If you don't know, then I suppose I'll just take my best guess. I've seen quite a few battle reports with the Tau, so I can maybe guesstimate it.
Looks like I'm going to play my 'butt in' card once again, but not for rules or tactics. I happen to play both armies IRL so I think I can help you out here. Tau Devilfish chassis'(Devilfish, Hammerhead, Skyray) are slightly under 5.5'' from nose to the back of the hull., and about 5'' from engine to engine. Possible burst cannon 'sponsons' not taken into account.
As for Dark Eldar Raider chassis'(Raider, Ravager), it is 7'' from tip of prow to the back edge of the rudder. At the widest points(the flared parts) they are 3'' wide, and the Ravager sponsons don't alter that.
Hey, thanks so much for the help Sweeney! In any case, here's the game map with my army defined. I had to make the Shield Drones separate units because I couldn't figure out how to make units with combined base sizes. It shouldn't make a difference, as I'll just attach them to the battlesuit units they correspond to.
I think I'll be going for the bottom table half. Shame we got Dawn of War as deployment, it makes my Pathfinders' Scout moves useless. I suppose the bright side is that my Railguns can still shoot you turn 1.
Also, will we be treating that building as an area terrain "ruin?" Or will it be impassible?
