Part 76 of Tilea's Troubles is a battle report. Brute ogres are defending Campogrotta against an army of dwarves and mercenary (!) Bretonnians. There are loads of 1980s' Oldhammer models in amongst the attackers, as well as models all the way up to today!

that depends on what you mean by talky... for example, you express arch-lector ugolini's thoughts in a very articulated way, but i see it as an expression of the personality and show of culture of said character.
i don't recall any mercanary use terms as "veritable cornucopia"

but yeah, certainly the war council is complicated. Every council in fiction would be a diffucul matter to approach, as you need to keep things clear and avoid boring expositions... and this is not a movie with different actors speaking that don't need descriptions of visual appearances. Here you must do all by yourself, and of course things tend to be dragged along.

Condottieri in Tilea can be well educated, I reckon. If such men are well spoken anywhere, surely it is there?

I use these things to put over all sorts of information re events, movements, forces, leaders and politics. The conversations reveal such stuff without me just presenting a history essay! They were written with campaign players in mind, as well as other readers. They allow me to impart the sort of information that PCs learn from advisors, correspondents and other agents. This story also acts as the prequel to a bat rep , of course.
