As I slowly delve deeper back into the Age of Sigmar, I'm starting to wonder what people recommend reading from a novel perspective?

I've got the AoS Core Rulebook, Legions of Nagash and Nighthaunts battletomes, and whilst they contain some good background I always felt that the novels and stories immersed me better in the world.

So, are there any recommended novels, ideally focusing in the undead, vampires, Nagash etc?

Really...no recommendations at all? :(:'(

Well, I'll keep on looking then. I saw an article saying that the Callis and Toll novels were good. Might pick them up first and see.

BUY NAGASH: UNDYING KING RIGHT MEOW! See my post in the Best/Worst AOS thread, or better yet, don't spoil it for yourself... oh my dark lord it's good!

Did you read The Realm Wars Saga's "Mortarch of Night" or "Lord of Undeath"? The first one sets up Mannfred in the new universe and the second deals more with how Sigmarines (I refuse to call them Stormcast, let's call a horse a horse here) relate to Nagash.

I powered through Undying King in a day, I'll let you know how Soul Wars turns out!

EDIT: I forgot "Labyrinth of the Lost," which deals with a party fighting their way through the Silver Tower, it's lovely and made me want to buy the game, it's a great atmospheric novel.

Eight Lamentations: Spear of Shadows is well worth a read; features Neferata and a new female vampire called Adhema. It has lots of references to various oldhammer characters too, which some didn't like but I didn't mind. Soul Wars is pretty good too although I'm only about half way through. Both are set more or less in the current timeline too.

Neat, Adhema makes her way into Undying King, too. She's one to watch, I love the idea of an entirely female group of Blood Knights.

The Malign Portents campaign website from a couple years back is still up, including a serious of various short stories set during that time. Stories - Malign Portents That was towards the end of 1st edition when they starting to properly flesh out what the realms were, and put out more 'low level' fluff of what life is like for the people who live in them. These stories in particular paint an enjoyably morose depiction of life in Shyish leading up to the big events that sparked of second edition. In terms of current fluff, things have changed a fair bit since then, but it's still good stuff.
