Now I know we had a previous thread which had alternate models for VC, however it is a bit out of date so I thought we should start afresh.

Basically I want everyone to post any alternative sites that you can purchase mini’s from, with a brief description after on recommended sections – you should note at the end of the description whether they fit well with GW current range. You can seem my examples below to follow on. Please do not post links without any descriptions or pics as the thread then gets massively cluttered.

Links should be grouped into two types, Manufacturers (such as Mantic, Reaper etc) and Retailers (such as OG Games).

Finally, please post the actual web address, so members can see what it is. This first post will be updated as more members post more sites. I should also note that this thread is for any mini company, not just those that provide undead etc, as members may want models for conversions etc.

Mods – Please update this post as and when you can.

Retailers
These are independent companies that sell on other manufacturers goods, including Games Workshop. Normally they offer a discount than buying directly from the Manufacturer and so are worthwhile a visit before buying

OG Games – http://www.oggames.co.uk/
An online retailer recommended by Carpe Noctem. They sell a variety of thing, models across different ranges including Games Workshop, paints, books, role playing games and more. The usually offer a substantial discount on RRP. Relatively new they are still expanding their range and are definitely worth a look. Ship worldwide.

Wayland games - http://www.waylandgames.co.uk/
They sell GW models at a discount and also models from many other suppliers, Avatars of war, Gamezone minitures, mantic games and many others. They have a long list down the left hand side of the homepage.

Maelstrom - http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk
Another manufacturer than sells models from a variety of suppliers including GW at knock down prices. They also offer cheap or no shipping costs, and normally have some kind of special offer on. Ship worldwide.

Firestorm Games- http://www.firestormgames.co.uk/
Really helpful service, cool staff will get anything in for you if they can, up to 15% off RRP. Good people to support. Avatars of War, Game Zone, Warhammer, etc...

Manufacturers
These are companies that actually made models. You can find many, many alternatives to GW here

Mantic – http://www.manticgames.com/
An upcoming company recommend by Carpe Noctem. They support the Fantasy Genre, currently having a growing Elf and Undead range. Their prices are substantially lower than GW whilst still offering the same level of quality. Recommended for those looking for cheaper, alternative HE and VC models, so their style may not suit all tastes. Their 28mm models fit well with GW models.

Reaper – http://www.reapermini.com/
A company that produces an expansive range across the full fantasy and sci-fi genre. They mainly produce singular models suitable for characters and monsters, not really a good choice for full units. Recommended for those looking for “attractive” and/or nude female models. Their 28mm models fit well with GW models.

Raging Heroes - http://www.ragingheroes.com/blogs/news
Some good, original stuff here. Models fit "ok" with 28mm range, though slighter bigger.

Avatars of War - http://arena-deathmatch.com/onlineshop/onlineshop.php
Fantastic models for heroes and characters across different armies. Very detailed sculpts. No use for units etc though. Fits well in 28mm range.

Guild of Harmony - http://www.guildofharmony.com/shop_GOH_pg1.php
A small though good selection of models for heroes / characters. Unknown whether they fit well with GW models at the present.

Hasslefree Miniatures - http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/
Really nice minis, and lovely friendly service. Tonnes of nude women although they are a bit small for Warhammer, depends what you want them for though. Clothed figures bigger, still a bit smaller but do fit, they're just thinner and more "real", i.e not hero scale. Good prices. Also good tools for converting, as well as monsters and whatnot.

Ok, I have added those to the list - however please can you all read the first post:

Please try to use the format I have used, at least put in some kind of description about the company as I do not want to have to look at them all to post a description. Finally and most importantly - for manufacturers please state whether they fit ok with the current GW 28mm range.

Cheers

I am trying to find a company that makes models for warhammer and they mostly do models that GW does not have such as Kholek Suneater, Valkia and so on. Do you know the name of the company?

No, but wish I did. That would be quite amazing to see; always wondered what Kholek would look like. Sorry, I know I shouldn't have posted with a retailer/etc, but I just wanted to say

I get alot of my minis from miniature-giant.com ,they sell primarily reaper.
The site has very easy to use search classifications.Free shipping over 10 bucks.
Also,if you type in the coupon code:Loyal2MG,you'll get an additional discount on orders $25 and up.
Also, being reaper models, they scale up just fine.

Heresy Miniatures - http://www.heresyminiatures.com/

Have a range of metal undead, with the ghouls, wraith and vampire in bat form looking especially nice.

Retailer:

Total Wargamer - http://www.totalwargamer.co.uk/

25% off mantic and 20% off GW. Postage isn't included, so pricing is better for large orders rather than small ones. The site also has a variety of other ranges including Avatars of War at 10% off.

Rackham miniatures: http://games.rackham-e.com/fr/confrontation?
Have their own gaming system called "Confrontation". Scale is 28mm iirc and the sculpts are very neat. As they have several races you can get reinforcements for almost every army there. Good example for our VC are their Black Paladins.

Micro Art Studio

Small but slowly expanding studio from Poland. I get all my AdMech weird 40K stuff there but they sell all sorts of models including conversion kits with just heads etc. Their scale is almost all 28mm though they do have some larger fantasy models at 70mm

Their best stuff are bases, you can get all sorts of themed bases both square, round, and small to chariot size. They also added some scenery bits a while ago.

Models range from okay-looking to some downright gorgeous ones. I have had good experiences with shipping etc. myself.

Another very good one was(?) gamezone miniatures from Germany but their site has been down for a week now... they had superb Undead models and vampires that were frequently used as Blood Knights which were not only cheaper but looked way better than the GW ones. Not to mention their awesome Dire Wolves.

Hopefully they didn't quit for good...I also have good personal experiences with them.

EDIT- and Gamezone is back again! Highly recommended their Wolves and Mournful Knights.

They do 28mm skeletons and skeleton horses. I've not purchased from them so don't know how they match GW but 28mm should be good
Dark Sphere
online/Retail shop in Waterloo, London. Nice guys who stock both mantic and gw and do discounts on rrp in store so mail order bargins without the waiting for the post man:zombie3:
Freebooter Miniatures
nice character scuplts by Werner Klocke who does a lot of nice work for reaper so should match well
Hirst Arts make moulds for scenery. I built a warlocks house from them and it looks really nice on the table.
Troll Forged Miniatures a nice little enterprise casting and selling sculpts by independent amateur sculptors not purchased anything from them so i've no idea but it looks like 28mm
Mirliton huge range of 25/28mm undead. some might be a little small but they make this

awww.mirliton.it_images_catalog_UD025.jpg
which i'm going to have to get.
vexillia ltd resell mirliton in the uk

I cant believe this has not been listed but

Foundry miniatures- http://wargamesfoundry.com/
The prices seem high to me but i think they are all metal. lots of historical but a fair amount of fantasy too. Although it may not be cost effective for adding units to fill out your ranks they do have things like skeletons with crossbows or archers. I think to most usefull thing though would using historical shields such as roman or greek in case you are looking for something like that

I will confirm on troll forged. I have had several dealings with Ed in the past. he's a straight good person and a joy to do business with. His casting is top notch. I'm amazed at what he can do with the resources he has.

Otherworld minis, really nice looking minis perhaps a bit expensive but good source for characters - check out the wraiths. I have not bought from them so cannot compare with GW (but I am very tempted by the wraiths so maybe one day I can update this).

Reaper's minis are almost all 28mm in scale with a handful of exceptions that tend to be labeled.

Just don't expect them to blend in as part of a unit from other places as they tend to go for the large and imposing look for things.
