The short description of creating your own characters in Age of Sigmar is that they're overcosted for what you get and should only be played in noncompetitive battles. However, if you're like me, and roleplaying or storytelling is a priority for your AoS experience, you'll want to dive in anyway.
Since I'm a fan of Mir Kainan and the Mortisan Executioner concept in general, I decided to pursue that for my first Anvil character. I used Mir Kainan as the framework and build the character to mirror his inspiration.
---
Mortisan Executioner - 18 points
Mage - Curse of Damnation
Ossiarch Bonereaper - 5 points
M 5", W 5, B 10, S 5+
Greatsword - 2 points
R 1", A 3, H 3+, W 3+, R -1, D 2
Superior Vitality - 1 point
W +1
Extra Armor - 2 points
Armor +1
Sharpened Edge - 2 points
-1 Rend
Ferocity - 2 points
+1 A
Decapitating Strike - 4 points
Roll of 6 to wound adds MW.
---
For 10 points less than Mir Kainan, you lose the unit of 5 and gain a spell that causes MW. At least the Anvil character can get any Legion trait I decide to run with and can be my Path to Glory Warlord, though I'll likely just use a Liege-Kavalos and run Mir Kainan. We'll see.
