New Ghoul hero

I really like it. Story gimmick is that this is the herald of a ghoul king, heading out into to hinterlands to gather the people to war. In reality they’re beacons of the ghoul madness, speading it like a plague wherever they go. Either way, they gather new recruits to prepare for the abhorrent crusade.


With new regiment of renown box, not sure if or when the hero will be available separately.



New road map. New ghb and first of a 4 part narrative campaign including the ghoul hero above in the next few weeks. Autumn sees Cities of Sigmar plus next two campaign books. Winter sees another battle tome (expected but not confirmed to be FEC) plus the last of the campaign books.

the narrative campaign will have new models for various factions, so additional death releases apart from new FEC and boxed game stuff are possible, though imo unlikely.

New Resin Tomb King for the Old World

old world will feature rules, returning oldhammer plastic & resin ranges for all 8th edition old hammer factions before pivoting to the new game’s core focus during the Three Emperor’s period a century or two after the Vampire wars (boo) & a Few centuries before the End Times.

Updated Old World factions will feature a mix of old and new plastic & resin kits. The first factions to get the update treatment will be Brettonians & Tomb Kings. For Tomb Kings the first confirmed new kit is the king above, while the first confirmed old kit to be coming back/sticking around is the necrosphinx/war sphinx.

artwork was shown for ushabti, carrion, skeleton warriors, maybe some other stuff I missed, but no confirmation on whether those would be seeing new or old models. I expect old for the ushabti & carrion based on the art, less sure about basic skittles.

Sadly no release date info, prob still at least a full year away.

Oh my Nagash 2023 looks amazing for me! I am soooo hyped for all of this. They are focusing on all the things I love.

I hope FEC will have a big release before Christmas. So I can put all the new toys on my wish list.

When your finished would you mind posting spoilers/review of the Hollow King Novel? No longer availble online and when I did browse ebay, was on the pricey side.

I finally finished The Hollow King. It was quite good. Basically Cado is a good vampire very much in the vein of Genevieve. A lot of trying to be good while struggling against The Hunger. He's a bit of a "loner tough and cool" which isn't really my favourite trope but his supporting cast is very good in this one and the writing in general is strong.
He was born just before the Age of Chaos and was a king of a kingdom in Shyish that was eventually destroyed by Tzeentch. It is tradition for the royal court of his kingdom to bind the souls of 9 departed people into rings that the king wears and can summon at will to serve as the royal council. He never really gets around to doing that properly until after they are killed in the chaos attack. The story has the spirit of his tutor, Solia, featured prominently. He also has a former best friend archmage Idyon who now despises him and his dragon mount Herezai (now a zombie dragon) who are summoned at some point. There's mention of a ring containing a female high councillor and his father but they don't actually appear. His mother and twin sister get mentioned in flashbacks so I would guess they're in rings but don't know for sure.
Anyway the story is him chasing a Tzeench cult into a domain in Shyish. He gets mixed up in the history of the town, its leaders and eventually in addition to Tzeench, Bonereapers and Lumineth. Neferata makes a brief appearance and is his sire. It's always from his perspective. Well written with lots of interior insight and some flashbacks and minimal descriptions of fighting. Also lots of interesting descriptions of blood magic he can wield. Also no Stormcast is a plus

OBR highlights:

• Petrifex bonus changed from '-1 damage' to '-1 to wound' for attacks at hekatos & harvesters.
  
  
• Harvester's ability completely rewritten & significantly nerfed - activates at the end of combat phase only, targets nearby friendly obr unit, only rolls for models in that unit slain that phase. No longer lets you heal units based on nearby enemy casualties, no longer works on casualties in other phases, no longer triggers as wounds are caused, only all at once at the end of the phase - so if the unit you want to heal is entirely wiped out you can't heal them at all.
  
  
• Harvester and Crawler are 'single'
  
  
• No changes to Mir Kainan or Arch-Kavalos Zandtos, which makes me think this FAQ was not based on any actual feedback or questions asked by the community, and a second update can't be far away.

SBGL highlights:

• Pack Alpha limited to summonable deadwalkers, as expected (no corpse carts, no zombie ogres)
  
  
• Neferata's redeploy nerfed to maintain battleplan deployment restrictions (ie, if the battleplan says you can't deploy within some distance of enemy models, then the redeployed units still can't do that)
  
  
• Neferata's spell significantly and unexpectedly nerfed to prevent any modifiers to saves to the target unit, both positive and negative.
  
  
• Blood Knight Riders of Ruin nerfed to only apply to normal, run, and charge moves - no longer works on retreat or pile in.

Yeah, sure... but it should have been obvious since the beginning. It makes little sense to insert that particular spell, with that specific effect, and "realize" a couple of months later that it was out of line.
I've noticed it while i was in the middle of the first quick read.

That they changed Dark Mist is a bit odd because she has had that spell for years without issue.

Blood Knights getting nerfed further with the Riders of Ruin nerf is also a bit of a mystery. It wasn’t like they were dominating tournaments in any way.

I mean, it's probably worse for people who used Neffy and Blood Knights a lot. I haven't finished my Neferata yet, and only just finished my first set of Blood Knights, so this nerf doesn't affect me much as they've yet to even see the table for me

It was on my "lists i want to test", but now i guess it's no more.

I'm surprised so many of you folks don't already have a fully painted army. I have every soulblight model but fell bats, radukar the beast and the latest Vyrkos lady. Granted many are 8e models I've been using for ages and just rebased.

It could be worse. You could be like Aly, one of the mods of the 30k discord, who seems habitually cursed to whenever he buys a thing from Forge World the plastic version is announced shortly afterwards

If you look at my paint log, I have a fully painted army (as in, I can play a full field-able 2k list). I don't have a fully painted collection which is the key difference here
