So with VC's most recent book bringing back more options, which in many ways helps field bloodline themed armies, do we feel this project is needed?

Bloodline Armies Project - Is is still needed?

Would allow more focused bloodline lists.
However, with many more options in the 8th armybook it certainly seems to be needed less.

I vote yay. I think that the additional army/power choices created by the Bloodline system went above and beyond the rather half-hearted efforts GW has made to represent the rich backstory of the Warhammer vampires. I love and use the bloodlines systems CN has come up with, and plan to continue to do so if at all possible.

Well I think in that case we may has well look at what we have here. I'll start a discussion soon.
Again, let's stick to updating only where it is needed. (Based on rules, stats, point changes to bring it in line with the 8th ab); as well as including the new units.

I always loved the different armies from the 6th Ed books - something I think they should have carried on IMHO. I thought this was as good a place as any to post up a mock cover:

The image was a commission (if only I could afford such things) by the talented ANARKYMAN over at Deviantart: Original Image
It still needs a little work, I need to resize the canvas and match the background, but I thought this image was so bad-ass I didn't really look for any others. Hope you like it as much as I do :thumbsup:

That cover is probably the boldest cover in 8th edition. If it went in games workshop, it would really stand out. Great work.:thumbsup:

The only question is that you say that someone else designed the image? If that is the case we need to have permission to use it - can you obtain this?

That...Is freaking amazing. If we can get permission for that, that totally needs to be the front of the compiled bloodline list.

I will probably contribute to this a bit, but my main posting is in the Legion of Nagash (which we will continue work on when DoN posts again) and the Vampire Council II.

It has been a while since I visited this forum. (shame on me) DoN, if you start with this project, I would love to contribute.
The previous bloodline armies were well balanced and fun to play with.

I'm happy to do this, however I am wondering how best to go about it. I was looking over Uziel's efforts the other day and I really like what he has done with it, in fact a lot of stuff I would happily incorporate in this project but then I would not want to steal anything without permission.
Uziel, any thoughts on this? Would you be willing to use your army list perhaps as a basis? With the amount of work you have already done it would probably mean a high percentage of it would be immediately useable, and this project might proceed a lot quicker to completion.
If not, I am sure we can approach from another angle.

Sorry about my lack of contributions lately. Been away on two different trips. UFC in london, and a second trip for work just when I got home. But I'm back at last.
Not really sure I wan't to see my efforts over the last year being picked apart by others at this stage to be honest... I assume you have read my explanations as to WHY I began this project in the first place, and while I value all feedback very highly, I know there are lots of players here on the forum whom have a rather "glorified" view of vampires and their abilities (especially Lords if the special characters in the Necrarch's workshop is something to go by), often bordering on the absurd, which is something I've tried to reign in a bit to balance out a better Core and by including more vampire units.
Opening up the project for everyone to get their "vote" in at his stage is more than likely to ruin the internal balance of the list, or at least my perspection thereof (not to mention to cause me a lot of anguish explaining things to those whom don't bother to read it all to begin with...). As I've said in the LoN project, I don't think getting too many temporary "drifters" involved is a good idea, as people for the most part have a tendency to want to see something they like get even better, and as people have different aspects they like and would want to see improved, things tend to escalate out of control too easily.
You know my feelings on the "vote approach" from the LoN project DoN, and I think you have to agree that things are progressing far better with a few dedicated contributors (from creative contributors, to rule specialists, to those interested in the lore parts, etc..), with one "Dictator" at the top. This is also why I haven't included others in the decision making process of my Bloodline Legacies project, even though I have appreciated and considered all the feedback given. It is also much too time consuming to discuss everything all the time, instead of spending the time thinking and writing.
I may have a counter proposal though.
The Bloodline Legacies project could be adapted to be the new "official" one on the site if you want, but like you on the LoN project, I would have the final say in things.
This could benefit "both" projects in some ways, if we could agree on a common goal for the project:
-Save you from making all decisions on two different projects at once
-You don't have to begin from scratch on an 8 ed list
-Hopefully help me get more feedback on the Bloodline Legacies projects with the sites "official" stamp on it :)
-Help out with play-testing (I've already play-tested the list so far in 6-7 battles, but more is needed for sure)
-One of my weaker areas is actually writing all the needed fluff to flesh it all out, ranging from unit and character descriptions to short stories, and so on.. This is one area which I'd gladly outsource a lot too (albeit with some guidelines...)

The nagash triology is actually a favorite of mine to be honest. The old stuff was decent and enough to be inspiring, but I don't think it is all that hard to write the kind of epic short stories found in the army books etc, as they don't really have to delve into the characters invoved beyond the most superficial level (which is why most characters in these stories are typically very one dimensional) for one thing, and offcourse, being able to create the setting as you write the story without bothering about things like details and logic and getting things to fit within the framework of a pre-existing and detailed settings containing other characters/people with their own conflicting interests and goals, makes it a piece of cake in comparison.
This is also why I liked the Von Carstein trilogy.
