RE: Borgnine's Log: Finished Zombie Ogres

There is no end to the coolness of that unit. So many awesome details. All in all it makes me wish that I had spent more time on the ogres lurking amongst my zombies. Might just be that I will swipe some ideas here and use them, if you are okay with that.

If I had to pick a favourite amongst your ogres it would definitely be the standard bearer. The missing jaw is so well done. especially with the slimy stuff painted on his chest. Really like the the scythe fitted through his arm. Have to say that I never really been a fan of hands replaced by weapons, until I saw these guys.

Keep up the amazing work.

Reading such comment from you is especially graitifying, you are a specialist in zombie conversions and I love your work with them, so I thank you for that xD

And of course, swap as many ideas as you want, it would be very nice ;) Inspiring people is one of the reasons to post minis on the internet :)

RE: Borgnine's Log: Finished Zombie Ogres

Well the effort was more than worth it Borgnine. They look absolutely amazing :| Even better than you vargheists which I didn't think was possible. You should win some sort of prize for this unit

Love the colours and details. My favorites would have to be the face horror (I did something a little similar with my alternate terrorgheist/ZD conversion, just with far less skill) and the big eater, followed by the dark elfer and the Kratos. Love the cold one head for a hand  Also really enjoyed your little descriptive backgrounds.

The only problem is I can not imagine how you could possibly top this with your next unit ;)

RE: Borgnine's Log: Finished Zombie Ogres

From Wikipedia's descripton of the Cthulhu myth: Chakota - A hideous entity composed of dozens of human faces set into a thickly cylindrical, worm-like mass of sickly, purple-veined muscle.

Again - Let me drown in envy, for this is like always one the greatest examples of creativity and execution, not only in warhammer. [bow]

Scott_K and Krede, thanks - I am glad that you like them ;)

@Robtion - Thanks  I like the painting on vargheists more [and the photos were better ], but ogres were much more fun when bulding and designing them :) Also thanks for taking time to read my scribbles xD As for the next projects - I think that a dragon or maybe mortis engines would be contenders to beat this unit, rest of my plans are much less extravagant ;) We'll se how [and WHEN] that'll turn out.

@Theerteen - veins! That would be a neat addition ;] But well, maybe next time, some further project ;) Also big thanks for that exaggerated comment ^^

WOW! I am blown away! I have been thinking of how I want to do my Zombie Ogres... and that is far beyond anything I had been thinking. Do you mind if I steal some ideas??

RE: Borgnine's Log: Finished Zombie Ogres

Thanks Von Calyptra  And Gatti - by all means, steal away ;) As I said, providing inspiration to people is an awesome part of threads like this xD

And to make this post a little more interesting - a bit of progress! Only a bit, as it proved to be much more time-consuming than I thought ;]

WIP of my alkonost - I managed to mount her on this archaic chaos warrior and make a 'head' with putty eraser xD All in all, converting metal is... different. I spend quite some time on sawing eagle heads away, during which one warhawk tail got snapped :O But on the positive side - I can bend metal wings as I like and make them somewhat different - it would be difficult in plastic, if not impossible without snapping it.

Also - I have assembled my Terrorgheist. Countless people have already seen it, but for me it was a 'first time' kind of thing - this beastie is BIG and AWESOME! On the picture below is how he looks from where I sleep - top of the wing is higher than Bretonnian M@A shelf higher! Also, I magnetized it using the awesome Rob Hawkins blog for help - I very much reccomend it

RE: Borgnine's Log: Small Alkonost WIP

Wow, those zombie ogres are fantastic. I thought I had a couple of favorites seeing the unit as a whole, but with the detail shots each one stands out as amazing!

RE: Borgnine's Log: Small Alkonost WIP

Big thanks, NoisyAssassin  That's what I was going for.

Yet another small WIP post.

This time, wooden gramps, wooden dudes - modelled after slavic wooden sculptures. at first I wanted to make them really out of wood, but that proved to be much to difficult and too much of a hassle - GS did plenty fine :) These are bases for my alkonosts/fell bats - I was going for typical gravestones for that, but later had to change it as I thought these would make the slavic feel of the unit more pronounced ;) Lots of greenstuff went there, even if the inside is plasticine and the outer layers only are GS.

vnCkv6q.jpg

That's one of the many projects I started lately. I'm getting ready to work more on the alkonosts, I did a little converting on my strigois [I still need to mount one on a base] and I'm working on tutorial "cheap and cool basing for Terrorgheist"

RE: Borgnine's Log: Alkonost Flier Bases - "Wooden" Sculptures

Thanks Shadespyre ;)

And yet another small update! The strigois!

Somewhere when assembling a Terrorgheist base I got to assembling a strigoi from that set - and I converted him while I was at it. I was very much inspired by Rob Hawkins and his Marduk the Ghoul King. I reposed him, made him stand on ground, gave him a weapon and changed the hands - the original ones were terribad - claws like that would break on an average chaos armor xD I also sculpted him some big bat ears as I love some Turelim from Soul Reaver.

y8XaJ5y.jpg

And a second strigoi - I got to finally sculpt the ears on her, after getting her as a christmas present :) And yes, a female strigoi ghoul queen xD I loved that idea since I read about it on /tg/ and harpy model from Gamezone was perfect for that. Strigoi with Beguile, totally WYSIWYG ;)

Ouh nice one, mine got a weapon too...the long claws, yeah, they might break. But I think he knows when to choose the sword or the claws on fighting different foes ;D

The ears remind me of Gremlins (one of my favourite movie franchises)...and that's always a good thing! xD

RE: Borgnine's Log: The Strigois - Small Conversions

@Blutsauger - Big, big thanks! That means a lot to me  I don't consider my ideas very groundbreaking, I've seen much better, but I very much like when someone appreciates that :)

@Theerteen - Yeah, I guess that strigoi could *snikt* their claws like wolverine, but it still looks weird xD

@Raven Torrid - I also got similiar impression when sculpting him - I also love Gremlins movies and it also seemed like a good idea, cheers! xD Giving him a white mohawk would be a little too much and not exactly what I was going for, but I am interested in Orcs&Goblins lately - that would be a perfect army to experiment with such things :D

@NoisyAssassin - Thanks! I wonder how she'll look when I'll finally paint her ;) right now the green ears look a little strange, but I appreciate that you like her

Ah, so you are succumbing to the green side, just as I recently did. O&G are so much fun. :D I recommend getting the Growler squiq - I instantly named him Stripe. xD

Also, regarding the slavic theme of your army (which is a great idea and one so well executed), have you considered making a Drekavac as a Banshee? Seems like a perfect fit. :scared:

That female strigoi is really something, is she licking that guy in anticipation? And that huge maul on the male really brings it together, I can just imagine him swinging that around and how much damage it would do. Great job on the ears on both.

Great job on the strigoi, particularly the lady, I think that will paint up extremely well, especially with your skills behind it

I did a couple of ghoul queens for my army, though one is just a (vampiric)Medusa, and the other is more of a feral tree hugging dryad type.

RE: Borgnine's Log: The Strigois - Small Conversions

@Raven Torrid - Yes, O&G seems like a FUN army with all the randomness and silliness - nice change of pace from all the warhammer broodiness. That's a nice squig and gremlinish squigs is definitely an idea worth thinking about
As for the Drekavac - That's interesting, but it's lack of clear description makes it hard to model - but I'll think about it, as it could be cool. My current plan for banshees - with the ME - is to model some slavic ghost girls, with braids and all that stuff xD But we'll see when I'll get to model it....

@Kingside_Bishop - thanks! It's hard to see what is what on this model, especially when it's unpainted, but yes, she is licking him on the face ;) As for the guy, Chaos Knights' weapons sure make an impression, being as tall as a man and all xD

@robtion - thanks! I also look forward to paint her - painting smooth skin here would be a challenge ;) And yes, I remember the medusa  Your ghoul queens and generally that army is awesome. And while we're at it - what model did you use for the petrified girl, by the medusa?
