It has been a long time...

I'm afraid I never realy got to grips with AoS. I tried several armies, but as an eternal High Elf and VC player, nothing seemed to gell. On the plus side, the AoS lore has steadily improved, while the miniatures can be spectacular. However as my opponents have faded away, those of us left have refocussed on 6th edition. We allow any miniatures and use units from 7 and 8 with their abilities and points adapted for 6th. We are very relaxed about it and bounce ideas off each other. Currently I am building a varient on the Blood Knight army list from the back of the 6th edition VC army book. However, GW have brought out that amazing looking zombie dragon (rev. drac.). I want one. So I am now trying to 'justify' it in my army list and getting myself in knots! My main opponent (The Pale Lady) is currently building a new version of Deiter Helsnicht. I'll post a pic when completed.

Great to see the old C.N. up and about again.

Hi DoN, thanks for the greeting.

I have a copy of the Old World rules, but I was a bit put off by VC not being supported by GW. There have already been tweaks to the new rules (eg magic) and supported army lists. I can see that over time VC and other unsupported armies are going to come adrift.
I'm also reluctant to get on the merry-go-round of GW and their new editions. They seem to be doing very well witjout the input of my pounds and as I said, their new figures are glorious; the Askurgan Trueblades models are the core of my new VC army.
Finally, I've been playing warhammer fantasy right from the start, when White Dwarf was an independant wargaming and rp magazine. To be honest I struggle at times to remember the correct/current rules, all the different editions merging into one amorphous mass. Concentrating on 6th isn't perfect, but it works for us. We are also really enjoying constructing our own army lists. Im just finishing painting an Avelorn army, while the Pale Lady is working through a Gnome battle force (with clockwork support). Then we both have our undead projects just starting off.

I don't know if the Pale Lady will log in, but I have a link to his latest short story. I could try to post a link (possibly: I am an IT Saurus) if that was allowed by the mods.

Great to be back.

Yeah definitely link, always love his stories, and please post your undead armies...and the other ones!

I know what you mean on the rules, I've been playing since the 4th and part of me still misses the Undead with the S7 T6 vampires, massively overpowered magic items etc. To some extent GW takes itself too seriously, I loved all the niche daft rules.

Same in 40K which I got back into in the 9th, and then they decided to make it "simple" in the 10th and just made everything dull

'Home is where the heart is... staked' and for me that is the original Old World. I'm just tired of trying to keep up with the endless GW cycle of rule rereleases. While we were typing yesterday another 'new' edition was announced (Bloodbowl- I am loving the new models though), Horus Heresy has just been revamped, the list goes on. I'm suffering from that typical vampiric weakness: struggling to keep abreat of the times!

‘The City of Mirrors’ This is the the link to what was the Pale Lady's writing blog, now much evolved. The Pen of the Damned sedtion is well worth a read through. I'll have to see if I have any more links to his more Warhammery tales.

Do we have a forum for army lists, lore, painted models? Sorry, I'm being a bit Neferatan there, I ought to look for myself!

Ah, as we get older it does become harder to keep track of all the changes these mortals keep making!

Thank you, would appreciate that. Do you think TPL would mind if we post his VC related stories on the forum, crediting and linking back to his website?

Thanks for the Army Lists, Lore and Painting Guides however, I'm afraid I couldn't get any of those links to work. They kept flicking to a 'this site can't be reached' page.

TPL would be very happy for you to post his stories on the forum as long as they are credited and link back to his website.

I looked at the VAU at the top of the page. Did this ever start? There are some great sounding characters there, but it is from a little while back and it may not be active. If it is still open for business, I've a character in mind to join the team.

Ah, some weirdness happened in the linking there, all fixed now, but if you've been looking around the forum then you've probably found them!

Thanks very much checking with TPL, and of course if posted will make sure all credit is provided!

I could certainly run a VAU again, but we would need a few more players!

Thanks for opening the VAU.

I've 5 Silver Helms to complete, then I can start on my Vampire Host. Hopefully that may be in time to get something in the Golden Bat.

Enjoy the weekend.

Welcome back :) . DoN has covered everything, but I just wanted to say that it's good to see another returning player. I hope that you will enjoy re-engaging with the community here :) .
