Anyone ever watched the series Deadliest Warriors its an American show that looks back through history and brings warrior techniques and cultures from throughout the world together to face off against each other it does your standard warrior i.e. viking, knight, samurai, pirate but also historical figures like William Wallace and Vlad the Impaler but most recently done one on Vampires vs Zombies :vampire3:

Its very much an enjoyable series, I cant remember how I came across it but im glad that I did. there have been 3 series so far that I know of and can all be seen on link below

I have watched a couple of episodes, which were entertaining to say the least. However, the site I watched them on was unbelievably slow to stream and was one of those ones where you can only watch a certain amount per day (unless you buy premium membership). It counted time paused, waiting for it to buffer as time spent watching....

This has got to be one of the stupidest shows ever. Seriously, I'm not sure if it's a joke or not.
I don't mean to offend you guys but I find it horrible. It's just made up nonsense.

The show has some merits but is a bit ridiculous. Some of the match ups are awful. Many of the historical warriors were good but they truly shined in their appropriate formation. A Greek out of a phalanx is a dead Greek no matter how hard he is. Anyone with non modern armour against firearms is ridiculous. That was a big reason in it being faded out. Some of techniques they use are good to test the effectiveness of the equipment and the likely injuries (good enough that I was alright making passing reference in my masters dissertation).

However whatever the outcome it is entertaining watching grown men pretending to be macho 14 year olds. Their arguments remind me of those you get from new players in Gw :).

Now if the did a warhammer one that's be cool.

As a long time re-enactor, sword fighter, and historian, the show featuring Vikings was hilarious. But wildly entertaining is not necessarily accurate.

Its entertaining but I never take their results seriously, just a load of bull from a nation which loves all weapons through history and has little in the way of history itself.

Yup, fun occasionally, but a load of bull as far as facts go.

As its in the spirit of the forum, i'd like to delve deeper into the Vampire vs Zombie episode though. It was fun I found, but I found the fact it was based in some guys paticular take on vampires (and not even a very good one, imo, as I think the supernatural bent is what makes them) soured it a bit. Also, the whole premise that vampires woudl be in danger of being infected by the zombies themselves. That works from a 30 Days of Night angle, as the vampires are still alive-ish, its a disease, but i've never heard of a dead body catching the flu. A corpse, even a 'living' one like a vampire, could at best be a carrier of a disease. There is no reason they should have symptoms or become some sort of super-zombie.

Vampire vs Zombies? It's not even a competition! Now vampires vs werewolves? That might be interesting xD

I watched a couple, and I did like seeing how effective the weapons were, but all in all was a pile of crap.

Mythbusters.....now that's a fun show.

It is a rubbish show! and very USA-centric.

I saw one where they compared Miami SWAT against GSG9 - the German specialist anti-terrorist police (who are trained to military special forces standard). SWAT won. Laughably bad result.

It is quite amusing watching all of the experts get really serious worked up over what essentially a boys-with-toys TV show though.

And as for Vamps vs Zombies / Werewolves / Mummies. Vamps every time. They have so much better dress sense. they'll just dazzle the others with their sartorial elegance.
