Endless Legions ruling

So I've got a rather simple question in regards to the "Endless Legions" battle trait for soulblight gravelords, I haven't been able to find any answer to.
Do you roll for this at the end of every battleshock phase, regardless whether you killed enemy units or not ? so lets say i did not kill any enemy units in one of the rounds, do i still roll but with a 5+ to return my units?

yes, if no unit has been killed, you have no modifier to your 5+.
please note that the battleshock phase happens even if no model was killed. you simply cannot bypass it, as the end of the battle round is reached ONLY once the battleshock phase of the player taking the second turn has finished

Also, you can roll for it even if you have no slain units to return to the board. That means you can shoot for the Unstoppable Armies battle tactic if you are desperate even if there is nothing to bring back!
