EDIT: This is now the place where I post all the stuff I paint outside of my normal armies.

He is done! My first fincast model ever.
I painted him as a gift for a friend but figured I should share him with you guys as well.

So her he is, the Exalted Hero of Khorne:

Sorry if it's a bit picture heavy.

Tell me what you think.

Lovely armour there Mad'At. Your painting is really coming along and it's great to see. Could you share your armour technique with us?

Cheers,

RE: Exalted Hero of Khorne

Thanks u_m, it means a lot coming from you.

Sure I'll share my ways.
The armour was bascoated with several thin layers of Scab Red and then shaded with thin layers of Scab Read mixed with Chaos Black. For highlights I used Blood Red mixed with Scab Red, again working in thin layers and for each layer adding slightly more Blood Red. After pure Blood Red Blazing Orange was added and finally vomit brown. I then shaded it some more with Devlan Mud mixed with Regal blue and water into the darkest regions, this was done twice, the second coat with more Regal Blue in the mix.

Lovely stuff there! Sounds like you paint red very similarly to me. What are the Finecast like to paint? I've always wanted to have a go at Abbadon the Despoiler and the new Finecast looks amazing.

Very nice..is he gonna be a display piece?
It's seems a shame that he won't get to do any bashing :'(

RE: Exalted Hero of Khorne

@u_m; He was a blast to paint, but putting him together and cleaning of mould lines was difficult. It felt like the knife destroyed all the surfaces it touched so I had to do some smoothing with GS. And the few air bubbles on the figure were all placed in very annoying spaces, were you didn't just needed to fill out holes with GS but actually re sculpt the area. The tip of his axe was gone for example.
It was very good forpainting though, I had no problem at all with paint being pealed of by my fingers, the paint really stuck. And the details are amazing which makes it more fun to paint, and I didn't need to sit and guess what the sculptors meant to sculpt.

All in all I must say that it's one of the best thing GW has released.

@Lasombra; He will be a gift, so he probably won't be bashing too many head, quite sad.

RE: The Marvelous Manifestations by Mad 'At

Hi again

Figured I could resurrect this thread to use as my place to post anything random I feel like painting. I also change the name of the thread for something more fitting.

The thing I painted this time is a Flamer of Tzeentch. It is a school project (Swedish class if anyone is interested), the task was to produce something modernistic. I chose surrealism since it would allow me to paint warhammer for school (tzeentch is quite surrealistic after all).

Inspired by Skarsnik's wonderful flamers (hope you don't mind pal, I just really like your flamers) I decided to paint him (it...?) red, orange and yellow.

As you can see he is still WiP. I'll paint the tongues turquoise but I'm not sure about the teeth. Either just like normal teeth (bone) or black. What do you guys think?

Looking good MH, I say go with the Black for the teeth. or start with charadon granite as a basecoat, I like skulls and bone using that as a basecoat.

Nicw work on the cape on your Chaos Character, I like the base the most though, the look of thick rubble makes me think of mountains and wastelands.

That chaos lord is stunning!
Really nice, the flamer is lookin' sweet so far.
Can I recommend normal coloured teeth as they'll look all the creepier.

Thanks for the feedback

I decided to go for black teeth after all, but they ended up pretty grey, but I'm non the less pleased with it.

Here he is:

I handed him in to my teacher this morning. I'll let you know what grade I get for him.
