Glad to see the forum back up. That's the second long down period in recent memory - what's going on? Anything serious? Are there host or cash flow problems? Or is it just maintenance issues and nothing to worry over?
Honestly, we (as in the Staff) cannot answer that question because we do not have administration permissions or access, so we do not know. Only DoN has the necessary access and permissions to be able to provide you an answer. I wish I could be more helpful, but this is the best that I can do unfortunately.

I'm also glad to see it back up! I only just checked for the first time in many months today. Guess it's been back for a few months already.
Unfortunately in my slumber I over-relied on my automatic detection telling me if the site went offline...which turn out no longer work!

A note that the core forum software will be receiving an update, sorely needed with the issues we had plus quite a few gremlins we've currently got, including for example issues with Google search which won't be great for people finding us!
There will be some downtime in the near future which will be announced.
With this immediate update we will lose access to our beloved Retro theme which I know many enjoy. I will try to bring it back but as with everything nowadays, time and money limit what I can do immediately and I think it's important to get the forum stable and working properly first.

The forum software update is complete! Thank's to our forum host MattW who did the upgrade in the background and then flipped it over with very little disruption.
Now this has been done I can make sure the site is configured appropriately (e.g. turning back on some spam controls) and also adding on some functionality I know we've been missing for a while.

I've received a request to change my password. Is that mandatory? i wouldn't like to.
Ok, I have disabled that addon for now until I can properly evaluate it and make sure it is setup correctly
Thank you to MattW and Disciple of Nagash for sorting out the forum upgrade so quickly. It is running very smoothly for me.

The site is now being indexed properly by google which will hopefully help people find us as well.

A few little tweaks:
- We now have our different forum banners back! If you refresh change the page the banner shown is from a selection of 4!
- I've moved us back to a standard forum layout as the tile structure was a bit confusing as not as easy to navigate
- We're now being seen properly by Google! We're quite low down in the rankings but will hopefully start climbing back up!
- Many spam controls enabled so hopefully we've seen the last of them!
- Activity emails enabled, members who subscribed and don't visit in a while will get a summary of activity at CN
- Admin and moderator banners are now clearer!
- We've tested an awards system which allows us to award members badges/medals, we'll be bringing back (including adding back medals where we can) all the medals we used to have!
