Howdy people!

Today I'm here to show you my latest model, a totally scratch built Necrofex Colossus! This is a monster for the Vampire Counts from Forgeworld's Monstrous Arcanum. Not wanting to half-ass it, I decided to go straight for a mighty Nightmare Colossus (the biggest of the two option). And a model with "largest of monster" and "colossal beast" need to be big, big enough to looks like he could Thunderstomp regular monsters (with 2D6, no less).

So big I went!

And I wanted to keep cost low, so I used what I had on hand, making minimum purchase for it (I bought two bits in total for this project, so less than 5$). The rest I had already in hand; unused models and extra bits. The main body is made out of sprues, lots of sprues. Glued together to make large beam, sanded them if I wanted round pole, or just shaved them to make planks. Lots of work, but it was free!

But enough talk, I think people are more interested in pics than words , so on with some pics :)

The mighty beast, total height is just shy of 14 inches at the top of the bell;

A more detailed view of the top part. The Necromancer up there will represent the magic level you can give the model.

A little size comparison with what I had laying around;

The Necromancer is magnetized, and the reliquary fit snugly on the head, so I can have that acting as the brain if I want! Could also be used if I don't want magic level on the model.

That is all for now, Hope you like it! If you have question or request for some pics, just ask!

I'm speechless. No, wait, I'm so full of things to say that there's a word traffic jam at the front of my face.

That model is amazing! Every single choice you made works. This is some next level shit, Mioumboy. I wish I had one! That's probably the best praise I can think of.

When I opened this thread I knew it would be awesome, but I wasn't prepared to see what I saw xD Incredibly awesome, man! Great construction, great use of materials at hand and I love the hand-joint with the wire. It's immense, must make a hell of an impression in real life. The only think I could complain about is that the undead part is really small here, but that's my personal opinion ;) it was probably also the case of available bits. It looks very similiar to the art in the book though. Once again, great job, very inspiring and I am waiting for it to be painted ;)

@Farmer7574 ; Thanks! I'd like to paint it too, but will have to see if it'll be possible with all the other projects I have lined up!

@Borgnine ; Glad you like it :) Yeah it might not evoke "undead" much, but I went more with the artwork as inspiration, a construct made of timber. I'm not a big fan of big fleshy creatures myself (too messy for my Lahmian too ;)), so covering it in dead skin wasn't even on my mind. But I did fill the Corpse Cart torso with more bodies though, so there's that :tongue:

@Alabaster427 ; This model is to use in 8th edition (we didn't made the jump to AoS), and for that, he got pretty decent rules (a rarity from Forgeworld)! With Toughness of 7, 10 wounds and regen of 4+ (upgradable to 3+), he should be able to withstand a few shooting phase :D

Holy wow that's huge! Looks almost a little steam punk! if you use it in a game take a photo on the battlefield so we can see just how large it really is in a game sitch. I'm going to jump on the bandwagon that really can't wait to see it painted.

Those look like child bearing hips.

But for real, looks legit. Like, ask Forge World if they want to pay you for their master copy you somehow got before them, I'm sure they'd give you one for free once it's in print.

So, how about some painted pics of the Colossus? :)

With the size of the models, it was a bit harder to get good lighting, but those should be good. If you want to see more angles or something, just ask!

Hope you enjoyed it!

Wow! That thing is amazing! >.< How have I not seen this thread before? Really well done XD and beautiful paintjob....I just have one question though o.o how are you ever gonna transport that thing?

That model actually transports him. It can carry a full grown adult without breaking a sweat.

Mioum! That's so awesome! One of the most impressive scratch-builds I've ever seen. Damn, I want one!

Thank you both!

For transport, I'm gonna built him a custom box with foam, that's one of the rare model that won't fit in my regular army transport foam, so I'll have to make him an exclusive house :D

Bloody brilliant! You've done amazing work with this one, truly outdid yourself this time!
I think I like the array of tombstones the best, especially the way you arranged them around the feet.

That thing is so amazing I'm lost for words (well not really because I'm typing, but it took me a while to reply). Really really awesome scratch build and fantastic paint job to boot. My favorite part is the rope holding everything together, just really well done.

You should post this mini on "Cool Mini or Not" or something, I rekon it'd be a hit.

@Mioum: Absolutely incredible model I say. Simply stunning. Can't believe I didn't comment on it before cause I remember seeing it when built and getting super inspired about building my own. Never started that but I haven't forgotten about it and might, just might, get around to it someday.

Just out of curiosity, have you used it in any games yet?

Thanks guys!

@Mad 'At ; Would be cool to see what others came up with for their Necrofex, so hope you end up make one! No game experience in-game yet though. I don't play very frequently, but I'll up using it at some point for sure! I build it for the fun of building it first though, that's what I enjoy the most out of the hobby. I wanted to scratch built it with "junk" I had around, and is was a lot of fun :)
