So looking at the army list there should be another option of Nagashi Infantry, and I would agree.

So far we only have the Cultists and the Black Riders, so I think a third alive unit would finish it off nicely.

So the question is, what type of infantry should it be? It needs to be something that would be used, and so far I think we have done a great job in creating units that would all be a viable choice.

So......any suggestions?

Favoured Ones - 9 pts./model

On the slopes of Nagahsizzar reside a a foul breed of humans. They swore themselves to Nagash long ago, and their ritual sacrafices to him long ago turned into macabre feasts of flesh and blood. Despite their cannabalism driving these foul ghouls insane, they still retain a low cunning and intelligence enough to use weapons. When Nagashs legions march to war, they follow in its wake, prowling along the flanks of his armies, hunting down their next meal.

Favoured One....... M 4 / WS 3 / BS 3 / S 3 / T 4 / W 1 / I 3 / A 2 / Ld 7
Greater Fiend....... M 4 / WS 3 / BS 3 / S 3 / T 4 / W 1 / I 3 / A 3 / Ld 7

Unit Strength: 5-20

Equipment
-Claws
-Throwing Spears

Options:
-Any unit may upgrade one Favoured One to a Greater Fiend for +9pts.

Special Rules
Nagashi
Skirmishers
Poisoned Attacks (also applies to thrown weapons)

The Dark Feast
The feasting of flesh is an honour to the Dark Lord, and none would deny the Favoured Ones their chance to show their devotion. In battle any they killed are devoured where they fall, an act that not even Dreadlords of Nagash would dare interfere with.
The Favoured Ones cannot pursue or overun. In addition no characters may join any units of Favoured Ones.

What is the idea behind them, fighters or scholars? Come up with some good fluff then work around that.
To me they sound like the average country bumpkins who grow up in the places around Nagash land. They study their Nagash prayers as he Is their god, and they have to hunt for food as they're poor. I'd go with some light infantry, with the option of bows :P Lightish armour, lower Ld (Like 7), Average I, 1 A, T3 S3, Bs 3 but Ws 2 (they're book smart, not book strong) and the option to give them poisoned shots (once again, hunters!)

Just ma two cents

A shock infantry unit has been done, the Legion has plenty of Undead line infantry so what we have left is more or less a shooty unit.

Hunters sound good. Though they shouldn't be WS2, cavemen often had to go up close to finish off their prey after all. No Skinks in the Legion of Nagash please.

I'm going to agree with Todd, I dislike the WS2, BS3 with poison. That would leave them pretty much the same as skinks.

Wait - Inspiration!!

We have forgotten all about the ghouls that live in the desolation of Nagash, the ones he created and warped. Perhaps we could create a Nagashi unit based round them. Feral hunting creatures, but they could still have throwing spears or something? They would still be alive (as Ghouls should be), but we would have to differentiate them from the VC Ghouls of course.

Perhaps name them the Cursed Ones or something similar, to show what the other Nagashi think of those who have gone feral....

Hmmm...so they could have VC Ghoul statlines and Poison on both melee and shooting but with higher Ld and 1A each. Then any of them could switch their throwing spear for 2HW, and make a rule saying that when forming up for combat the 2HW models always join the front rank if possible. How about that?

Hmmm. I would really like to avoid making up any special rules for this unit if possible.

I agree with the Ghoul stat lines but I think we should just give them throwing spears, maybe make them skirmishers?

I think Throwing spears and skirmishers would be fine.
I think the Ghoul stat lines would work, apart from i don't think they should be T4 though really.

Sweeney Todd said:
If VC Ghouls weren't T4 then you have just removed the prime reason to take them, and you may as well delete them from the army book.

You're right, i was more thinking of fluff then actual rules.

Go with T4.

The only differences stat-wise from 6th to 7th is the loss of Alive! and -1 Ld. We'd have to add in a BS if we wanted to have a thrown weapon (since they have BS 0).

I was thinking something like this...

Ghouls - (should have a better name) - 8 pts./model

Fluff goes here

Ghoul....... M 4 / WS 3 / BS 3 / S 3 / T 4 / W 1 / I 3 / A 2 / Ld 6
Ghast....... M 4 / WS 3 / BS 3 / S 3 / T 4 / W 1 / I 3 / A 3 / Ld 6

Unit Strength: 5-20

Equipment
- Claws

May choose the following equipment upgrades (costs are per model):
- Thrown weapons (base Str) +1pts (spears, rocks, whatever they can get their hands on :p)
[maybe this should be +2, simply due to the inherit lack of shooting in most undead lists]

Options:
-Any unit may upgrade one Ghoul to a Ghast for +8 pts.

Special Rules
- Alive!
- Skirmishers
- Poisoned Attacks (also applies to thrown weapons)
- Characters may never join a unit of Ghouls
- Can never overrun (I always thought that they should have a rule like Bloodgreed [re:Minotaurs] since they eat flesh)

Yes. Firstly the Alive! rule needs replacing with the Nagashi rule.

I think they should come with thrown spears as standard, as the fluff behind these is that unlike the ostracised Ghouls of the Empire, these creatures are still welcome by the normal Nagashi. In opposite of what I said earlier, maybe they could be call the Blessed Ones? The Nagashi could see their their change brethern as especially blessed by Nagash?

Anyway, as they are still welcome among the Nagashi, they retain intelligence that VC Ghouls, and so hunt for flesh with spears (dirty & rusty ones that are as good as poisonous xd).

I like the last rule as well. Unlike VC Ghouls, the Nagashi see the Dark Feast as a holy event and would not force them to leave a meal, therefore the unit can never overrun or pursue.

Hmm... Names... names... What about:
Broken Ghouls
Savages
Fell Humans
Necrophobes
Feral Serfs
Loyalists
Locals
Night Stalkers
The deceived

Or... Siderodromophiles :D

Yep, Nagashi rule should replace Alive!

DoN, you can copy/paste that into the first post, or whatever... I'll be around a lot less now (I'm sure you've noticed I tend to post much less during the week then I used to).

I really thought that "Bloodgreed" type rule would fit in really nice,

How bout

Feral Ones
Cannibals
Deformed Ones
Man Vultures-not actually meaning there vultures of course...

and some fluff

On the slopes round Nagashizzar and the beaches next to the Sour Sea many deformed creatures cling to existence one breed of these are the (INSERT NAME HERE) feral humans beyond imagination they survive under the shadow of Nagash worshipping him as a God and feeding of the flesh of the living.

Any Good???

just had an idea how about

having a special character for them like kouran for dark elves a ghoul king of sorts???

Maybe he can make it so they only hold instead of pursuing after a failed ld test???
