Hey all, my first post here. Been lurking around for a while, now finally decided to post some of my own stuff. Prefer converting over painting, so mostly going to post those...but hoping to start painting soonish as well.

So, here they are, for start:

Grave Guard Senechal

ai196.photobucket.com_albums_aa277_RavenTorrid_th_DSC04686_resize.jpg ai196.photobucket.com_albums_aa277_RavenTorrid_th_DSC04684_resize.jpg

Ghoul King

Cairn Wraith

Scythe looks bigger on photos than in reality (although it is quite large)...matter of perspective.

In preparation: Lord on Abyssal Terror, custom Hexwraiths, Ogre zombies, maybe painting some zombies (painted maybe 10 minis ever, they'll be good for practicing...painting fodder :P).

Those are some great looking conversions! Keep it up! I can't wait to see more from you. By the way, what scythe did you use for the cairn wraith?

Carved it myself out of some plasticard-ish sheet. ;)

Here's one I made a looong time ago (before starting with VC), just for fun...it's Death of Rats from Terry Pratchett's Discworld.
Guess he could count as another wraith, with the proper base that is...Skaven would be scared silly. :P

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones

Abyssal Terror

Have had this in mind for some time, and I'm so happy it's finally done!
Well, technically there are still a few things to be done (some greenstuffing & improving) including the Lord, but this is basically it. It's in a usable state.
As you can see, I'm a tad megalomanic, but I can't help it. Yeah, every living (or dead) thing on the table will be able to see it in the shooting phase, but I don't mind.

Some technicalities:

Bits used: Trygon body & Zombie Dragon head + wings
Wing span: approximately 12"
Base used: 60x100 mm monster base (HPA, Screaming Bell...)

Waited for my magnets to arrive (they did today) to do the wings, but they were too heavy in the end, so they got pinned.
The tail is magnetized tho, so I can exchange it for other versions. The wings can be repositioned to a bit more open position, wider span.
Was hoping to make it possible to turn them reversly as well (similar to Terrorgheist), but without the magnets it ain't possible. Oh well.

So, here are the pics, C&C are welcome! ;)

Thank you very much! =D

It will be a good centrepiece, don't think I can top it with anything. :P

Next are the Hexwraiths, quite a bit of greenstuffing intended, kinda lazy about that...so gonna finish up some zombies in the meantime.

Consider your idea admired and promptly copied... I've often thought that Tyranid models would make great conversion bits for vampire counts, and now I feel justified. Superb work!

Holy crap! That is exactly what I needed to see to wake me up this morning! Sipping coffee before school and work while browsing Carpe Noctem, then bam! That awesome monstrosity! Almost got coffee on my screen!

Looking forward to seeing paint on him! :konrad:

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 13.04. - Abyssal Terror

Thanks all, from the heart. =) I kinda neglected Warhammer in the past few months, but since I started posting here, all the comments and feedback is just inspiring me to do more!

So, here are some skellies and zombies I've been making and finishing these days:

Bretonnian skeletons:

First from the left was intended as a skeleton, but I think I'll be using him as a wraith as well.
Second from the right I like to call "The Sworn Lumberjack". :P

ai196.photobucket.com_albums_aa277_RavenTorrid_DSC05403_resize_exposure_1.jpg

Zombie Scarecrow (unit filler):

He'll be surrounded with pumpkins, once I make or get some. Getting the "hay" (originally brush bristles) in place was a major hassle. :mad2:

Bretonnian zombies:

First from the right: The Blind Wanderer
Second from the right: The Enforcer
Magnetized banner.

Corpse Cart zombies:

Empire/pirate zombies (props to my brother for these :)):

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 17.04. - Skellies & Zombies

Here are the Ogre zombies I've been working on in the past few days.

Spilt some blood for my VC in the process, how appropriate. :konrad:

ai196.photobucket.com_albums_aa277_RavenTorrid_DSC05418_resize.jpg

The Unstoppable Cleaver

He just keeps going...the poor peasant tried to stop him, but got carried away, literally.
Lots of pinning and repositioning, was fun making it. Need to green stuff some cloth/bandage around the wrist and the cleaver and he's done.

The Boxer

Axe in the back, knife in the shoulder, some bullet holes and a crack in the skull.

RE: Raven's Nest O' Bones - Update 20.04. - Ogre zombies

Mostly done with my Hexwraith mounts, at last. Don't fancy the skeletal mounts very much, so decided to make mine, which will be painted etheral. The marauder horses look just perfect. The idea is that the Hexwraiths are moving and jumping through the plane of imprisoned souls, materialising as they enter the mortal plane. Partially materialised, they have an etheral tail filled with screaming souls.

Done in a few steps:

1) Copper wire attached to a horse, and bent to a satisfying shape
2) Wire removed from horse, wrapped with aluminium foil, covered with fimo polymer clay, and baked in an oven
3) The whole thing then pinned and glued to the horse
3) Fimo covered with green stuff

The fimo and foil are very handy as they save up a lot of more expensive puttys, and are perfect for the making of the basic shape.

I'm not much of a modeller, so was mostly improvising, and learning in the process.
Think they'll be a nice addition to the army, and a cool sight on the table, once they are painted.

Now only waiting form my Hex/BK box to arrive so I can add the wraiths. Can't wait!

Here are the pics, C&C welcome. ;)

...blood....blood....

...

...blood...

(ahem)

Sorry about that.
Excellent work with the Abyssal Terror! I've seen that tyranid kit meshed with the torso of a necrosphinx to make a heirotitan and it was quite the sight.
Love the steeds, too. When those things are fully painted, I'm sure they will be one of the best looking cav units anyone has seen. I just realized you put faces in the mist which they are coming from. Very nice touch!
This may sound strange but I like your zombies and skellies the best. The positioning of their hands gives them a great deal of character.
I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Hehe, aye. Adding different army bits also adds a great deal of fun to the process and character to the final product. Much more fun than assembling default zombies, so think I'm gonna continue in this direction. ;)

Indeed I do, and that's why I love this game so much - with all the minis and bits out there you can just let your imagination run wild and combine them to a great extent!

Next up is a mounted Vampire Lord, but still need to acquire some bits in order to finish him. *impatience* :vampire3:
